My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2071

Chapter 2071

"Drive. Back to the office." Hendrix said this with a blank face. There wasn't a trace of joy or anger.

For those who shared the same blood, the perpetrator could act unscrupulously, but the victim would feel burdened without any way of retaliating. To put it bluntly, the wicked ones had nothing to worry about.

Unfortunately, Hendrix wasn't a villain.

In this moment, where comfort was meaningless, silent companionship was precious.

Along the way, I took Hendrix's arm and leaned on his shoulder, playing with his fingers. I would feel him occasionally looking at me, but I didn't say anything as I didn't want to make him feel like had to explain himself. Gently snuggling up to his arm, I positioned myself as a soft comfort for him to hold on to.

After Hendrix had risen to become the wealthiest man in the country, he moved his company's headquarters into the highest office building in the center of the city. It was merely two blocks away from the city square and we arrived in a few minutes.

"Bring me the documents," Hendrix ordered at

Evan as he led me into the office.

After so many years, I had forgotten everything about the company's business, so when I heard Hendrix instructing Evan to do so, I was uninterested as I thought he had come back to the office to simply deal with some business affairs. As I saw him take his blazer off and approach the desk, I settled down in the reception area so as to not disturb him and Evan's discussion.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Hendrix pulled out a chair and saw me sitting on the sofa. He paused and raised his hand to call me over, saying, "Arianna, sit here." Without hesitating, I got up and sat next to him.

Evan pushed the door open and entered the office. He walked up to the desk and handed a leather bag to Hendrix. After giving me a respectful nod, he turned around and left the room.

As I recalled Evan's contributions over the years, I casually asked, "Evan should settle down in Jarold City, don't you think? Should we increase his salary?"

Evan had been by Hendrix's side ever since Ucrebury, bearing the same pressures and responsibilities that Hendrix had to. I felt ashamed. Never mind just doubling his salary, it seemed fair to also award him some shares of the company to put him more on par with us.

A talent like him would be appointed

as an executive chairman in any

other company. Yet, he had

remained by Hendrix's side for ten whole years, working for him without even so much as a grumble. Such a man deserved to be rewarded and respected.

"I have my own arrangement for that," Hendrix answered as he undid the strap on the leather bag. With that, he pushed the bag across the table at me and urged, "Open it and take a look inside."

"What is it? Why are you being so mysterious?"

As I retrieved the documents sealed within the envelope, I noticed that it looked familiar. It was the equity transfer agreement with my signature on it. It was the document I handed over to Hendrix concerning the distribution of the Roberts Group's stocks.

"What do you mean by this?" I was confused. The contract was valid for only two years, so the agreement was already nullified. I hadn't expected Hendrix to have kept this all this time.

With his fingers clasped, the corners of his lips curled up into a smirk as he urged, "Finish reading it before you say anything."

Collecting myself, I took a closer look at the documents. There were a few more pages stacked together very closely, the paper was also very thin. As I flipped through the pages, I saw a notice regarding a change in personnel.

"It has been decided by the higher

management of the company to appoint Ms. Arianna as the CEO of the Roberts Group, effective immediately."

The date of issue was seven days ago?

Didn't this mean that this had taken place two days before the plan to search for Nathan's hidden location?

Confused, I looked at Hendrix,

intending to ask for clarification only

to find that he had been looking at me the entire time with his gentle but intense gaze. I couldn't help chuckling as I said, "We've been together for a very long time. Why are you still looking at me like that?"

"I can't get enough of looking at the person I love the most." Hendrix's words were so sweet it was as if his mouth had been smeared with honey. After fooling around for a bit, he put on a straight face and explained, "I had expected Jennifer to take advantage of us when we put our plans into motion, so I made use of this personnel change

contract to freeze our funds in advance. Now the entire Roberts

Group, including Nathan's

investments for the past six years, belongs to you."
