Chapter 1986
Chapter 1986
Hendrix stared at me with some uncertainty. After a while, he relaxed and walked out of the door.
Evan was stunned as he watched Hendrix head straight for the stairs, he wasn't able to say anything. I deliberately cleared my throat to remove any notion he had of snitching on me.
While waiting, I quickly washed up and changed my clothes. When I went downstairs, Hendrix had laid out some food on the table.
The plate was tossed onto the table and made a loud clatter.
As I walked towards the dining room, Hendrix kept staring at me.
I looked down and raised my eyebrows. Even though Hendrix had only made some simple dishes, they looked like they came straight out of an advertisement with the same color, aroma, and taste.
I felt my appetite growing as I pulled out a chair. I said while eating, "We'll be having some guests over tonight. I'll leave them to you."
Although the food from the hotel was good, it couldn't compare to a home-cooked meal. I intended to let Aaron bring Aurelia home so that they could take care of each other. I could also spend more time with them.
Initially, I thought that Hendrix would agree to this. But as soon as I said that, a familiar deep voice replied, "No."
I stopped chewing on my food. I looked up and asked nicely, "What's wrong, honey? Don't you like having friends over? You insisted on cooking every time we had guests so that they could admire your skills."
Hendrix's face was blank, but his eyes looked sharp. "I've lost my memory, not my mind. The Reid family is either rich or noble. They wouldn't accept a good-for-nothing for a son-in-law. Besides, you said that I've achieved a very high position in recent years, which proves that I'm not a useless man. Those dealing with me would be businessmen and very prominent figures. I wouldn't be wasting my days in the kitchen."
I nodded slightly. It was hard for me to argue with that logic.
Hendrix still had his strong logical reasoning. No wonder Nathan changed his mind to allow Hendrix to take over the property under his name.
But no matter how outstanding he

Hendrix had been a

The smile disappeared from my face, and had lost my appetite. put down my utensils and asked leisurely, "In that case, why did you cook me this meal?" Content

"It's a husband's duty to take care of his wife," Hendrix said calmly. There was even a hint of class in his tone.
He spoke magnanimously, looking every bit of the good husband.
But it sounded harsh to me.
I threw down my cutleries, got up, and walked out of the door.
Hendrix stopped me and asked, "Where are you going?"
I pretended to not hear him and rushed off, taking wider strides.
As if aware of my thoughts, he shouted more firmly at me. "It is also a husband's right to know the whereabouts of his wife."Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
An outsider would have assumed that he was a lawyer, given how he loved talking about his rights.
Fearing that he would catch up to

Mullen was parked outside of Jennifer's house. I got off the car and walked over, but a bodyguard stopped me. "Name?"
"I'm Arianna, your boss' sister-in-law," I replied fluently.
The bodyguard looked at me for a moment and then said, "I'll inform the boss. Please wait here."
