The Rejected Luna: Daddy, Where is Mommy?

118

All of a sudden, Calvin fell on the floor because of his drunken state. Colton recalled how Calvin used to fall on the ground as a kid; he always used to be there to help him in standing up again.

But he couldn’t do that all his life, could he?

“Damn it! This alcohol.” Calvin cursed. “Help me,” he said, raising his hand toward Colton.

“Help yourself,” Colton said emotionlessly and turned his heels to leave from there. That was when he realized that there was a third person in the room as well.

Ethlyn.

She was looking at him in concern.

Colton ignored her presence and started leaving from there. “Whatever Alpha Calvin said was not true.” She spoke. Colton’s step halted in the middle, but he didn’t turn toward her. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to listen to the conversation.” She muttered.

“I just want to tell you that you are neither a heathless person nor a monster,” Ethlyn spoke. She didn’t know much about Colton, but she had heard a lot about him, and all she realized was that he loved everyone and was someone who didn’t know how to express his love for others. “I know you might be thinking that I’m saying so just to make you feel good, but I’m just saying what I have heard from Rose about you.”

Colton looked past his shoulder and spoke, “You speak a lot just like him,” he sneered before adding, “Hope you will use your mind if you have heard the whole conversation, unlike him.” With this, he left from there without looking back even for once. Ethlyn turned her head toward Calvin and saw him sleeping on the floor where he fell.

Ethlyn tried to sleep, but she couldn’t because her mind kept imagining the image of Calvin with some woman whose face wasn’t clear to her. She cursed mentally when she realized that she couldn’t sleep peacefully. She wondered about the condition of Calvin’s mate.

‘Would she be fine now? Is she awake by now? Did Alpha Calvin tell her about Rose and me? Moon Goddes, how will she take that news?’ She kept thinking whatever she could.

She thought to check on them at least once.

‘There can also be a chance that Alpha Calvin wouldn’t be there?’ Cinder asked hopefully.

‘Keep your heart strong, Cinder.’ Ethlyn responded and looked at the nightwear that Calvin had got for her. ‘It’s not that revealing. I can wear it outside.’ She thought before picking herself off the bed. She left the room first and then the penthouse. The guards outside the penthouse bowed their heads in front of her, and she gave a tiny smile in return.

Instead of looking for Calvin direct to the hospital, she asked the guards about him.

“Can you mind link any of the guards in the hospital and let me know where Alpha is there or not?” She asked.

His eyes widened before asking, “Can’t you mind link the Alpha on your own?”

She shook her head before replying, “Not yet. But after Luna Ceremony for sure.”

“Oh.” He nodded his head and mind-linked the other guards of the pack. After a minute, he spoke, “Alpha left the pack hospital five minutes before. He went toward Lemieux’s place.”

Ethlyn smiled. “Thank you so much.”

‘So, he was with her. I shouldn’t be feeling bad, right? I was the one who asked him to leave because he didn’t want to stay by my side willingly.’

Still, a tiny part of her expected him to stay. To fight with her by saying that he wouldn’t leave. After all, it was his room, not hers. But he did none of the things that she expected deep down.

Ethlyn wasn’t sure whether she should go to Lemieux’s place or not.

‘I should and ask him to return back to the penthouse. Yes, that will be a better excuse to check on him, and I will apologize to him as well.’ After thinking about all this, she went to Lemieux’s place.

Lemieux was surprised to see her at her in surprise.

“Alpha Calvin is here?” She asked softly, though she had sensed Calvin’s presence along with the familiar another scent that she had smelt around Calvin twice.

“Yes, he is here.” Lemieux agreed and stepped away from the door, letting her walk in.

“Umm.. mm Is he busy with someone? I don’t want to disturb them.” She muttered, not sure that she should go toward the bar area.

“He is with his brother, Colton,” Lemieux replied, leaving the decision to Ethlyn whether she wanted to go there or not.

‘Oh, the same mysterious brother whom I haven’t met.’ Ethlyn thought and followed Calvin’s scent to see his brother for the first time.

“… didn’t feel anything for her. NOTHING. TOTALLY BLANK. And mate bond doesn’t work in that way. I should have felt something, but I didn’t. I can say that it’s a trap, Calvin.” She heard Calvin’s voice, but why would he speak his name on his name?

‘Maybe their voice is almost the same.’ She concluded.

“Do you know why didn’t you feel anything toward her? That’s because you’re becoming a heartless person with each passing day. That’s because you’re a monster in human form, and that day is not far from when you will become a monster for real. You often snap and are ready to hurt anyone who cares or loves you. What do you think you’re? Hmm? A wall that always protected our other siblings or me after dad. But that’s wrong…. that’s so wrong, Colton Haysbert. The truth is that we need protection from YOU.”

She felt bad for Colton the way Calvin talked with him. She watched them talking, and she observed Colton from behind.
