The Billionaire's Regret

Chapter 103

Chapter 103

Ivy almost burst into tears when she heard those names. She wanted to squeal with delight. “My brother has arrived!” She was almost certain she was going to die here! The weight of the boulders piling up on her chest was almost too much for her to bear! The rumbling noise in the air seemed to go on forever as if they were calling out to them. Ivy had never before found the sound of a helicopter to be so soothing to her ears. It was so lovely that it drew her back from the brink of death! It was her ray of hope, her beam of light at the end of the tunnel! She ran twice as fast as she usually did. Vince was ecstatic as well. As they ran, he found another path in front of them and returned his gaze to her. “Ivy, we’re returning together. You’re not going to abandon me, are you?” Ivy smiled as she looked at him. “Of course not!” “No matter what happens after we return, you can’t ignore me, okay?” “Don’t be concerned; I’ll look after your fortune and glory for the rest of your life!” Ivy assumed Vince was concerned that she would change her mind and refused to acknowledge him. ‘It’s just one man, so it’s not a problem to back him up!’ Ivy tripped on a tree branch because she was too excited to notice what was around her. Her face turned white with pain almost instantly. Vince climbed up and drew her up with him. “Don’t be hasty. What if it’s all a trap? Wouldn’t we be running right into it if we did this?” Ivy shook her head, excited and self-assured. “No, it isn’t a trap. It’s got to be my brother. He’s an absolute genius with the highest IQ!” They’d know she was here as long as they could find Simba! They ran with all their might for twenty minutes. Ivy had fallen several times, and her clothes were ripped and muddied to the point where it was impossible to tell what they had looked like before.

Her white and slender hands were lacerated and drenched in blood. It was a startling sight. On the other hand, she didn’t seem to care and didn’t cry out in pain. After escaping the jungle, the view revealed a stretch of beach. Three helicopters hovered there, their massive propellers whirring incessantly. There were also eight speedboats not far from the shore, each with six to seven tall and ferocious men on board. They were all armed with guns and wore sunglasses while standing guard. The sea breeze swept up the massive waves, which smashed angrily against the rocks, solemn and chilling. The scene appeared cold and solemn, causing people to tremble at the oppressive sight. The tense scene did not appear to be a rescue mission, especially when Ivy noticed the three men in military uniforms standing closest to her. Each of them was carrying a gun and smoking while standing there leisurely. Fear burrowed into Ivy’s bones, sending a bitter chill up her spine! The men turned to look at Ivy and Vince, who had walked right into their trap. Their surprised and playful expressions revealed danger and coldness within, which froze Ivy’s blood. The men began to laugh, their laughter bold and wild. Ivy and Vince’s faces were ashen as if they had just witnessed a ghost. Vince’s grip on Ivy’s hand trembled slightly. “P-Pirates!” Ivy tried to remain calm, but her heart was racing furiously. Intuition was always spot on. She knew they were the pirates who had chased them earlier just by looking at the three men carrying guns. They waited here for their prey to jump right into their trap after being chased away by the indigenous people! Finally, Ivy and Vince served themselves up on a silver platter. Ivy was standing there. Her thoughts were completely blank. Her heart felt as if it were submerged in ice water, and all she could feel was bone-chilling fear. She’d never felt so helpless before. It was as if a dark cloud was hovering directly above her head. Ivy wished she could cry her eyes out. ‘Why? Why am I being tested on my desperation and survivability repeatedly?’ Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

The three pirates tossed their cigarettes aside and exchanged a glance before strolling over to Ivy and Vince. There was no need to rush because their prey was already in their hands. Ivy clenched her teeth and fought back the fear in her heart. “Let’s go...” Vince’s voice suppressed a tremor. “No, I’m afraid. They have firearms.” Ivy immediately dismissed the idea of turning around and fleeing when she heard this. It would be too bad if they were shot from behind! But what would they do if they couldn’t run? The air was bitterly cold, and the smell of cigarette smoke mixed with the fishy smell of seawater enveloped them. The three men stood directly in front of them. They wouldn’t be able to hold out much longer at this rate. Vince became frightened and began to tremble. Even though he was an explorer, he had never seen anything like this! Ivy wasn’t faring much better, but her heart began to calm down when she saw the pirates approaching. Three men approached, two of them tall and powerful. The other was shorter and thinner, but his face was cold, and his hawk-like eyes were the most terrifying of all. He fixed his gaze on her with an intense and greedy stare. Ivy’s clothes were dreadful, but her beautiful and elegant features could not be hidden. After catching his gaze, she glared vehemently at the slightly shorter and thinner man closest to her. The man sneered provocatively. His cold, sinister eyes glinted with peril. He whistled and gave her a lewd look. He raised the gun and pointed the cold barrel under her chin, forcing her to tilt her head up. He looked at her as if he were a conqueror surveying his spoils. As he joked with his companions, his evil laugh was filled with coldness and greed. “Look, this woman is quite attractive. This time, we got a big haul.” The men in the back agreed, laughing arrogantly and uncontrollably. Their eyes seemed to graze Ivy’s neck like a venomous snake’s tongue.

This was their domain, and Ivy was merely prey. The pirates on the ship in the distance were watching this scene with bated breath. It was a tense situation. They were all aware that Ivy and Vince would not be able to flee. Ivy’s body tensed, but her heart calmed. The sea breeze whipped around her face. It pricked her skin, but it made her exceptionally clear- headed and calm. Her fists clenched tightly at her sides, and her palms bled from her nails digging into them, but it didn’t matter. She could still smell the burnt gunpowder on the gun’s barrel after it had been discharged. It was a death sentence. At the moment when the pirates laughed at each other. Ivy reached out and took the gun in front of her. Then she abruptly turned sideways and yanked it forward with all her might. Her other hand used all of its strength to pry the man’s fingers away, and all she could hear from him was a muffled grunt. He looked at her, perplexed. This ostensibly soft and meek woman actually dared to oppose him? Ivy denied him the opportunity to retaliate. His gun was in her hand in the blink of an eye. She flipped the gun around so that the barrel was now pointing at the pirates. She kicked him to the ground and forced him to kneel in front of her. The other two men stopped laughing and looked at Ivy with suspicion. Their expressions were filled with rage and hostility. Two guns were aimed at her, while Ivy’s gun was aimed at the head of the pirate on the ground; the situation instantly changed. The slacker and arrogant pirates grew cold and tense. Ivy gave a cold smile. They are not lambs to be slaughtered, and the pirates were not invincible wolves. Vince was taken aback by the scene and rushed over to Ivy’s side, assisting her in subduing the man on the ground.

Ivy gave Vince a nod of approval. The pirates across from them cursed and glared angrily at Ivy. This wretched lady! Their firearms were not props. A bullet could erupt from the barrel at any time. “Would you like to die? Leave him alone!” Ivy’s expression was solemn. She laughed coldly as she slammed the back of the gun into the man’s head. “I’d like to have a helicopter.” “Impossible!” One of them cursed her for her irrational demand! She has no right to threaten pirates on their home turf. She was begging for her death! Ivy did not anticipate that her demand would be met. However, because she had a bargaining chip, she became less fearful. The other pirates yelled into the distance, and the men aboard the ship were quickly dispatched. As countless muzzles were soon aimed at Ivy, their trained response carried a ruthless killing intent.
