Sweet Revenge: Jace & Emerald

Old Mr. and Mrs. Higginson were so happy when they met Ace. The boy was surprised to see the couple as well. He was very happy when he found out about his cousin, who was only three years old-the same little girl who was with the old couple in the amusement park.

Jace was happy to see how the important people in his life were getting along well. There’s only one problem, Emerald. He and Ace were in his room and were about to sleep when the boy asked, “Daddy, do you love Mommy?” He felt relieved when Emerald agreed to let their son sleep in his parents’ mansion.

Young Higginson was stunned, not because he didn’t know how he would answer his son but more because he was worried that their son was thinking about him and Emerald. “Why do you ask?”

“I love my grannies, uncle and aunt, and little cousin, and I think they feel the same about me. I’m sure they would love Mommy too. But I understand that even if they will like Mom, it won’t matter if you don’t love her.”

“I love your Mom, little man. But she’s having difficulty accepting me after what I did to her.”

“Why did you do what you did?” The boy asked innocently.

“It’s hard to explain, but the main reason is I am such an idiot. I was too stupid to think at that time, and I was consumed by anger. Don’t think about me and your mother because I will do everything to win her back so we will become a happy family.”

He didn’t like the idea that his father was living separate from him and Emerald, so before he fell into his slumber, he promised to help his dad win his Mom’s heart.

“Daddy!!!” Ace shouted upon seeing his father, who had his arms wide open for him, behind the little was his nanny. It was the first day of school, and Jace promised his son to drive for him every day. Emerald didn’t like the idea, but she had no choice since her son wanted it, and according to Jace, it was fine with him as well.

“Are you going to work now? Why don’t you go with us instead?”

“I have my car.”

“I can send you home after work,” Jace replied.

“Mommy, why don’t you want Dad to send you to work? Are you not happy if we’re together?” The boy asked, making Jace and Emerald look at each other.

“Then let’s go. Dad said he’ll send you home after work, too.” Ace replied excitedly, not giving his mother a chance to refuse. He knew that she had been trying to avoid his father, so to make his plan work, he had to ensure that his parents would always have time to be together. “Come on, Mommy!” he added and started pulling her.

“Wait, alright. I’ll just get my bag.” Emerald said, making Jace smile internally before he looked at his son, who was acting innocent. However, he already had an idea about what Ace was doing.

Jace and Emerald sent Ace to school together, and the two were very happy to see how excited their son was. The boy kissed them before he started running with his nanny, Keng, who was shaking her head, feeling happy for little Ace.

“Are you going to SoftWare Group or yours?” Jace asked on their way to the car when they couldn’t see Ace anymore.

“Are you that uncomfortable around me?” Jace asked when he stopped her from walking. Emerald looked at him with a stoic face and replied.

“Ace is not here, so you can stop acting.”

“I am not acting! I don’t need to act!” Jace exclaimed. “Look, I am trying to show you that I want our family to be together. I want my son to experience a complete family the way I did. He has a mother and father who live together. Don’t think I am doing this to show off because I wasn’t.”

“Are you done?” Emerald asked before she turned her back on him, angered Jace, so he carried her back to the car.

“Ahhh! What do you think you’re doing!” Emerald shouted as she continued to hit his back. But Jace didn’t care until he put her inside the car. He also took the liberty of buckling her seatbelt so she couldn’t run away from him before he went to the driver’s seat. “Are you crazy?” Young Morgan asked angrily.

“Yes! I’m crazy for you!” Jace shouted back before he started the car and drove. He decided to bring Emerald to his company because she didn’t tell him where she was supposed to work for the day. On the other hand, Young Morgan was speechless and couldn’t understand why it was easy for him to say those words when they were not actually on good terms.

When they arrived in the SoftWare Group building parking lot, Emerald tried to unbuckle her seatbelt in a hurry, but Jace stopped her. “Emerald, let’s talk,” Jace said. On their way, none of them talked or made any sound, and it killed him. He wanted to get close to his wife, but he thought she was not giving him a chance.

“There’s nothing to talk about, Jace,” Emerald replied. It was also hard for her because she wanted to be with him, too. But she wants him to value her this time. That’s why she tried to fight her feelings and intentionally gave him a hard time. She didn’t want to see him suffer in other things but in wooing her. So she had to control herself no matter how much she wanted to show him her happiness now that she already sees her future with him and their son.

“Yes, there is.” Jace replied, “I want you to know I will woo and chase you. But please be fair and don’t push me away. Let me show you how much I miss you, how much I want you, and how much I love you. Let me show you how much I want our family to be complete. Let me pay for what I did to you until my dying days, and I assure you that I will never let you down.”

“I hate you, Jace. After what Jack told me about why you did that to me, I still couldn’t find it in my heart to forgive you just like that,” Emerald replied. She was surprised to hear her husband pour his heart out, but her plan is intact, so she will have to reject him for now. “I don’t deny that I want the best for our son, so I am letting you enter his life. But that’s it. Don’t expect anything other than your rights for Ace. I will still file our divorce, so please help me with that.”

Jace was stunned. He thought that he would be able to get Emerald’s sympathy as he continuously showed her his repentance and regrets. But he was determined to win her back, so he said, “The divorce is not going to happen, but I will continue pursuing you. I regret everything I’ve done to you, and as already said, I am not asking you to forgive me right now but to give me a chance to show you that I have changed.” After that, he let go of her arm. He turned off the engine before he went out and opened the door for young Morgan, who was in disbelief but sighed before she left the car and walked with young Higginson to the elevator.
