Chapter 1003 I Demand You Marry Me
In other words, Faceless has already harbored intentions to kill me. I had hoped that by getting rid of Kurt, Zoey, Sofie, and the others, we
could finally enjoy some peaceful days. Now, looking back, I realize how naive I was. Even if I refrain from provoking them, they would still
gather around me like relentless flies. My connection to Artemis ensures that we can never lead an ordinary life like everyone else.
While Bailey was lost in thought, two bodyguards dressed in black could be seen standing on a nearby watchtower, their backs to each other,
diligently observing the activities in their surroundings.
One of them cast their gaze upon the couple embracing in front of the flowerbed. Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
So, your weakness is Luther, huh, Bailey? Well, that's good to know. For years, I've been fretting over how to deal with you. But you were
always too perfect with no loopholes for me to exploit. Now that you have a vulnerability, everything becomes much easier. If I can't kill
Luther, I'll take him over. Either way, I bet you'll be worn out, won't you? Without your sturdy shell as a shield, all you can do is watch as I
peel your skin off you.
The next morning, Simon and Catherine quietly returned to the manor.
Since Eunice had used a sedative fragrance on Cameron, a substance that even Bailey couldn't neutralize, their only hope now was to rely on
Catherine.
To prevent Eunice from finding out about Catherine's return and possibly acting rashly, only Bailey was informed when Catherine came back.
Inside the guest room, Bailey stood by the bed, leaning over to examine the boy lying on it.
“The acupuncture session was brief, and it didn't cause any fatal damage to his leg muscles or meridians. However, it's impossible for him to
get up anytime soon. He will require a gradual and patient rehabilitation process,” Bailey explained.
Upon hearing this, Catherine, who was standing at the end of the bed, let out a sigh of relief.
It's good that they didn't inflict irreparable damage on him. With Bailey overseeing his care, I believe that Harvey will be able to stand on his
own again.
“I heard Cameron was drugged by Eunice. Should I go and help him out?” she asked.
Bailey nodded. “The news of Kurt's demise hasn't reached Eunice yet, but it's only a matter of time. Once she discovers Kurt's fate, her
immediate concern will likely be that her cover is blown. In her panic, she might take drastic actions against Cameron, causing irreversible
harm and leaving us with no means to undo the damage.”
Catherine strode toward the door. “I'll go find Cameron right away and identify the specific stupefying drug he's been drugged with.”
Bailey called out to stop her. “Hold on. Let me divert Eunice's attention first before you proceed.”
Half an hour later, Eunice left the villa. Cameron wanted to follow her, but she stopped him.
Fearing that pushing too hard might make her lose control of her emotions, Cameron could only watch as she went alone into the backyard.
Eunice had barely left when Catherine arrived at the door, accompanied by Bailey.
Cameron didn't particularly like Bailey, especially after the latter had forgiven Artemis for his actions that night.
“What are you doing here? Weren't you the one always defending that scum, Luther? If you like him so much, why don't you just stick with
him and spare me your presence?” he snapped.
Bailey gritted her teeth, seriously considering delivering a punch that could knock him out cold.
However, the realization that he was currently under the control of Eunice's stupefying drug forced her to suppress her anger. She knew that
even if he was beaten to a pulp, it wouldn't help the situation.
“Cameron, are you sure that it was Artemis who seduced Blaze, and not the other way around?”
Cameron's handsome face darkened instantly, his eyes flickering with rising hostility.
The moment he let his emotions slip, Catherine quickly discerned the kind of stupefying drug he had fallen under.
She lowered her voice and said to Bailey, “Distract him for two minutes. I'm going to the garden to gather some flower pollen to prepare the
antidote.”
“Got it.”
As soon as Catherine left, Cameron roared loudly, “Blaze loves me, so how could she possibly seduce Artemis? Bailey, I can tolerate other
accusations you throw at her, but not this one. Blaze's feelings for me are as clear as day. Even when I've rejected her advances, she remains
steadfast. There's no way an impeccable woman such as herself would stoop to seduce your man.”
His words were so amusing that it caused Bailey to chuckle in disbelief.
It seems like he still doesn't understand Blaze. If the one in the manor was the real Blaze, she probably would have rejected him outright. Why
would she cling to him? The real Blaze is someone with dignity, integrity, and spirit. She wouldn't shamelessly attach herself to someone in
such a manner. Ultimately, he doesn't comprehend Blaze's character. He wouldn't have fallen for this impostor's deceit if he truly understood
her.
Two minutes passed swiftly. When Catherine returned, she promptly scattered a handful of flower pollen directly into Cameron's nostrils.
As the stupefying drug lost its effect, Cameron's mind gradually became lucid.
He stared blankly at Bailey, furrowing his brows as he asked, “What happened? Why do I feel like my memory is a bit fuzzy?”
Bailey didn't respond to him. Instead, she grabbed his arm and led him toward the backyard.
“I'll be taking a few minutes of your time to show you something interesting,” she said.
In the garden, Eunice hurriedly passed through the corridor, heading straight for the gazebo at the center of the yard.
She had received a call from Artemis, who asked to meet her privately, promising to provide her with an explanation.
She wondered whether his explanation was a way for him to take responsibility for her.
After all, she was impersonating Blaze at the moment, and she reckoned he shouldn't harbor any hatred toward Blaze.
From a distance, she spotted the graceful figure inside the gazebo, and her heart skipped a beat.
Every time she saw the man, he gave her a different feeling.
I love him. I really do love him.
In her opinion, there were probably very few socialites in the world who didn't admire the powerful presence that was the Luther family.
Being a pampered daughter of an affluent family, it was only natural for her to harbor hopes and expectations for her future husband, and men
who achieved success and fame at a young age were particularly attractive to her.
With just a brief encounter back then, Artemis had taken root in her heart.
If they spent more time together, she believed she would be enchanted by the unique charm he possessed.
As she approached the pavilion, Eunice struggled to contain her impulse to embrace him. With a soft and alluring tone, she inquired, “Mr.
Luther, what can I do for you?”
Artemis furrowed his brows, a hint of disgust flickering in his eyes.
If it weren't for Bailey inviting him to participate in this act, he would never want to see this disgusting woman again in his life.
Because of her, he was publicly scorned and labeled heartless and promiscuous.
Even his own children distanced themselves, avoiding him whenever he approached.
“Ms. Blaze, you know very well if I touched you that night. If you're willing to explain this to Bailey, I won't pursue the matter any further,”
he began.
The smile on Eunice's face froze.
So, it turns out he's not here to give me an explanation but rather to make a desperate attempt to persuade me to step forward and clear his
name from the scandal.
“Mr. Luther, what do you mean by this? Can't you admit to what you've done? Don't think for a moment that you can escape from taking
responsibility. Even if I were to force you into marriage, you wouldn't have the right to refuse. After all, you've claimed me before Cameron
could. Because of that, I demand that you marry me, Mr. Luther.”
