Alpha Derick’s expression changed dramatically as he stammered, “How is this possible?”
“It’s true, Mr. Gildon. On the day you abandoned Hadley, he was attacked by rogues on the way. During the fight, his old injuries flared up, and he was rushed to the hospital.”
“I recall Luna calling me for the special medication, but I didn’t have the authority, so I forwarded your location to her.”
Alger spoke each word with conviction.
But Alpha Derick hung up the call, unable to bear hearing more.
His face went pale as he stared at me, his voice trembling, “So, you weren’t lying to me that day?”
I cried out in anguish, my heart filled with rage, “When have you ever seen me lie to you about Hadley’s life?” At my words, Alpha Derick’s previously straightened back crumpled.
His eyes lost their vitality, his face drained of color, and he seemed to lose all the composure he once had.

Sandra, as if struck by lightning, trembled and uttered in disbelief..
