Hendrix frowned and pursed his lips. "Arianna, are you going to just treat me apathetically?"

I looked back at him and said, "You can choose not to eat or just order takeout yourself." Saying that, I

turned off the fire on the stove.

I nodded. "Who's calling?" I looked at the time. It was three in the morning. Calling someone at this

ungodly hour was mad.

He lowered his eyes and said faintly, "Andrea is going to give birth soon."

I was astonished. The date of her delivery wasn't near and the child was yet to be 9 months old, so

how can she give birth so soon?

He was still holding the phone. Something that the caller said made him frown deeply. It looked like

things weren't looking great.

"Madam Lawson, I'm sorry but I'm not in Jarold City at the moment!" Hendrix said softly.

Hendrix saw that I was looking at him and turned on the hands-free on his phone.

The imploring voice of Valerie could be heard from the other end of the phone. "Hendrix, Andrea really

needs you now. There are still flights from Ucrebury to Jarold City. I'm begging you to come here. As

long as Andrea gives birth to the child safely, I'll promise you whatever you want!"

Valerie sounded urgent.

Hendrix frowned and was looking a little unhappy. I took the phone from his hand and said to Valerie,

"Madam Lawson, I'm sorry, but my husband can't leave now."

scared Andrea. You sent her pictures of dead infants! You almost made her fall down from the top floor.

Arianna, you're so cruel!"

I found what she said a little funny and scorned, "Madam Lawson I have no idea how or why you think

of me that way. I don't understand how I have the power to make your daughter feel scared with things

like these. Don't try to put the blame on me. It's probably best if you think about what evil deeds you've

done that have caused karma to bite back for torturing your daughter to have an unpleasant delivery."

"You..." Valerie was so angry that she couldn't find any words to say. Angry and bothered, she said, "If

you have any hate, direct it towards me. Aren't you afraid of karma if you do such things to a pregnant

lady?"

I snorted and said blandly, "I'm afraid. But looks like karma is biting you back and not me. I have

nothing to be guilty about but karma has already come your way."

With that, I hung up the phone and looked sideways at Hendrix. I raised my eyebrows and asked, "Are

you going to go?"

He pursed his lips. "Do you think I'll go?"

I shook my head. "No!" I paused and added, "If you dare, I'll kill you."

He smirked. "Do you want to try?"

I stared at him with my chin propped on my hands, not saying a word.

He narrowed his eyes and said, "Did you do anything about it?"

I couldn't really understand his question. Then I understood that he was asking if I did anything about

Andrea's early delivery. "What for?" I asked, frowning.

"So it wasn't you?"

I nodded. "I'm in Ucrebury. How am I supposed to do that to her? If I wanted to, I'll definitely personally

do it so that I can watch her suffer."
