My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 355

Chapter 355

"Who knows how the rich live? Besides, only the Moore Family has been talking about Hendrix's

engagement with Miss Andrea Burton. Hendrix never responded, not even once from the beginning.

I'm guessing that the woman likes him, but he doesn't like her at all."

On the way out of the Granger Group, Hendrix and I had overheard some gossip along the way.

Our surroundings turned quiet the moment we entered the car.

Hendrix started the car, glanced at me, and said, "Fasten your seat belt."

As the car drove along, I took out my cell phone and texted Irvin asking him about the details of the

flight the next day. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

"Do the employees in your company bully you?" Hendrix asked suddenly. I was stunned by his

question.

I shook my head. "No, what's the matter?"

He pursed his lips. "Is it common for them to gossip like this?"

"Yeah," I replied casually. Irvin sent me a reply about my flight details and a reminder of the things to

bring along.

As I put my phone down, I saw that he was furrowing his brows together looking at me. I then

explained, "Well, I was hired into the company by Irvin as a project director. Though it's neither a high

nor important position, as someone who's worked in the Roberts Group for years and was also

dismissed by them, it's not surprising to hear gossip."

When I first came into the company, I heard that people said that I was Irvin's mistress.

Speaking of which, I really did rely on my relationship with Irvin to land the job. All I can do now is to

carry out my job well and produce great results for the company, or else I would really be seen as

Irvin's mistress in the company.

Hendrix drove back to the villa in silence. He didn't say anything any more about the gossip but I

noticed that his gaze had darkened.

He however brought up Nerissa and asked, "Did Aunt Nerissa talk to you about anything?"

I shook my head. "Nothing much, just about Andrea. I think she doesn't want any of the

Roberts' children to be living on the streets."

He sneered, "Do you believe that child is mine?"

I raised my eyebrows. "No?"

He paused for a moment, looked at me solemnly and said, "If I said that it's not mine, will you believe

me?"

I nodded and said, "There's nothing not to believe."

He looked a little astonished by my answer. But he smiled and said with a relief, "The child isn't mine. I

won't marry her. As for the engagement, I had never participated in it from the beginning. The reason I

went along with it was for Casper, which was why I spared Andrea from my denial."

I smiled lightly, pursed my lips and looked out of the car window. I didn't continue to add in anything

unnecessary.

He must have thought that I didn't believe his words because I was smiling. He continued. "Arianna, I'm

telling you, I've never even touched a strand of her hair."

Seeing his face turned serious, I nodded and said, "I know, you don't have to explain."

The car stopped outside the villa. I was pulled back by him. Turning to face him, I saw that his face

turned more serious and intense, "You got into Granger Group because you wanted to take over and

use their Al project to beat down the Moore Family, am I right?"

I nodded with no intention of denying anything. "Why? What's wrong?"

He pursed his lips and asked, "Why didn't you come to me instead of Irvin?"

I inhaled slightly. I looked at him and said, "Is the child only mine alone?"

He was stunned and was at a loss for words. He looked at me and said, "I'll make sure Valerie gives us

a proper explanation about the child. Don't take any risk."

Knowing that he would say that, I nodded and agreed. "Yeah, I know."

Although I didn't know what he planned to do, his plans of actions had no relations with me whatsoever.

The sufferings and heartbreak that I went through should be my own burden and atonement.

Everybody else was only my aid.
