Chapter 1982
Chapter 1982
After Nathan finished talking, he cast Hendrix a meaningful look and said, "We're a family. If we help each other out, there won't be any trouble. But if someone doesn't know what's best for them and insists on their own ways, then don't blame us for taking steps to cut our losses."
As he walked past Hendrix and towards the stairs, he said slowly, "I don't see any point to having this meal anymore. Let's just adjourn for the night." Suddenly, the sound of glass shattering on the floor came from the living room. It was ear-piercingly sharp.
When he turned around, he saw Hendrix's gloomy face. Hendrix's eyes were downcast, and his hands hung on his sides, clenched tightly into fists. His entire body emanated a sinister aura.
The celadon tea set had been shattered into pieces on the floor and was mixed with chrysanthemum tea, causing a mess.
As soon as the servant heard the sound, she hurriedly rushed in. They didn't dare to disturb him and said, "Sir Hendrix, let us clean this up, you..." Hendrix ignored her and remained silent for a moment. Just as the servants were about to pick
up their brooms, he turned around to leave.
This wealthy family had plenty of arguments amongst themselves, and since I was an outsider, I had no reason to stay. So, I brought Wynn along and chased after Hendrix.
In his current emotional state, Hendrix approached the driver and wrangled the keys from his hand in order to get into the car.
Evan was so worried that he clenched his fists. "I'm worried for Mr. Hendrix's safety."
I looked at Evan as I thought about what he had said. Then I handed Wynn to him and told him, "Send Master Wynn home."
Then I quickly ran forward and got into the passenger seat while Hendrix started the engine.
Hendrix looked over still fuming, he looked like a wild animal. When we looked at each other, I nervously gulped.
"Get out." Hendrix said through his gritted teeth.
"No way." I pretended to be calm and looked away. I then fastened my seat belt quickly, and said, "Go ahead, I have something to say to you, alone." Hendrix narrowed his eyes, which made him look even more frightening. After staring at me for a few seconds, he released the brake and sped off. The roads were unobstructed and we made our way around the city. After driving alongside the sewer for 20 minutes, the car finally stopped.
Fortunately, I had sat in Mullen's car before, so I was able to keep calm even at high speeds.
After lighting up a cigarette, Hendrix
took a deep puff then exhaled the
smoke out from his nose. He
en
placed his hand outside the window, leaned back and closed his eyes.
The side of his face was perfectly lit up from the street lamp's light. He looked mysterious and attractive.
I got straight to the point, "Have you recovered your memories?"
Hendrix didn't speak. The car was so quiet that I could hear his heavy breathing.

By turning my face around, I became serious, raised my voice, and spoke solemnly, "You knew what Jennifer did, am light? When you had to choose between your family and justice for your dead wife, you chose the latter, so you pretended you knew nothing about it, didn't you?"
Hearing this, Hendrix opened his eyes suddenly and looked at me. His bloodshot eyes were very scary to look at. "What are you trying to say?"
I smiled faintly and said in a
half-joking manner, "I have to know
what kind of person I'm working with, right? Hendrix, do you
remember the way you looked at me when we first met? You gave me the cold shoulder as if you had already known about Arianna's death. That's why, when you saw me, you felt relieved and thought that was just some insignificant outsider. Just like the Marshall family, you're not anticipating Arianna's return, am I right?"
