Chapter 1949
Chapter 1949
Hearing that, Irvin gritted his teeth and looked at me resentfully. Finally, he gave in and said, "It is you've said, we are in that type of relationship." He paused for a moment and regained his usual arrogance. "Can I take her away now?"
Hendrix finally smiled contentedly. As waved his hand, his men immediately retreated to make way forthem.
Irvin took two steps forward and suddenly stopped. He turned his head and looked in my direction. His eyes flashed with guilt, but he also seemed concerned. He finally left accompanied by Hendrix's men.
As soon as they left, Hendrix's face instantly turned dark. After Evan passed a document respectfully to Hendrix, he led his men out tactfully.
It was only Hendrix and me in this large living room.
Hendrix's gaze fell directly on me, and a complex look flashed across his eyes. His imposing manner filled the room.
I felt uneasy with his eyes on me and muttered, "Mr. Roberts?"
Hendrix opened his mouth, "It seems that Miss Reid's fiance wasn't as he seems."
Huh? Was he making a sarcastic remark?
"Mr. Roberts, what do you mean?" Even though Hendrix and Irvin didn't like each other, he should still have some basic respect for that man. Regardless of whether Irvin was right or not, how could Hendrix claim that he didn't harbor any evil intent when he exposed him like that?
"Nothing." Hendrix raised his eyebrows and said slowly, "I don't have any other skills except for being good at business. Still, I did cost you your fiance, so I should compensate you."
"Compensate me? How?"
Hendrix threw the documents that Evan had brought onto the table and casually pointed at them. "Read it for yourself."
I flipped open the file and noticed that it was a contract. The contents of the contract was... to be Hendrix's wife?
This was simply... unbelievable.
When Hendrix saw my face, he said mildly, "Finished reading it yet?"
I nodded and shook my head, feeling very confused. "I don't understand. What on earth are you trying to do here?"
Hendrix observed me, and his expression suddenly became serious. "Wynn can't be without a mother, and I need a wife to regain custody of him."
His eyes were as cold as ice, his
presence placed a huge pressure on my entire being. When I looked into his eyes, there was a kind of force that made me want to obey him inexplicably.
It took a long time for me to regain my sanity. I threw the contract back onto the table and avoided his gaze. "That's your problem. Why should I help you?"
"You've lost your memory," Hendrix said loftily. "Ever since you woke up two months ago, who actually genuinely tried to help you retrieve your memories? I can be of realThis belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
assistance here."
I gave a light chuckle because he amused me. "Without you, I can still recover my memories. This is too far-fetched of an excuse."
After some thought, I realized that I
might have been too harsh, so I added, "Mr Roberts, you'd better discuss this with your actual fiancee, Miss Serene. I believe that she will be very happy to help you with this matter."
"Mm..." He nodded calmly. When he looked up again it was as thought he had turned into a different person. His gaze had become resolute. "But only you can completely disguise yourself as Arianna."
I frowned. That was true, even Freya and Cyril couldn't tell us apart. In front of the Reid family, my face could fool them easily.
