Chapter 1948
Chapter 1948
Hendrix finally showed a trace of emotion on his face. Anger surged from his deep gaze as he spoke with his cold voice, "You're right. I've forgotten a lot of things, so I won't take our relationship into consideration. I gave you that chance, but you didn't appreciate it. Don't blame me for not showing you any mercy, Jennifer Marshall."
Jennifer seemed to have been slapped in the face. She slumped onto the sofa behind her without saying a word.
She probably never expected Hendrix to be so cold and indifferent towards her, his biological sibling.
The resolution in Hendrix's words was severely irreversible.
Jennifer was stunned for a moment before she shot Hendrix a glare, unwilling to give in, "Hendrix, you're being deceived by them!"
All of a sudden, she pointed in my direction and shouted, "Let's not talk about this woman with Arianna's face. Even if she was Arianna, Dad would never let her get close to you. It's true that I lied to you, but what about Dad? Don't tell me that
you don't trust him as well? If it weren't for Arianna having seduced those men, the Marshall family wouldn't have had to be relocated. Have you forgotten everything Dad said?"
Hendrix had run out of patience. He sat still without any reaction.
Evan understood and gestured towards Jennifer while turning to look at his men. Someone then came forward and forced Jennifer out. Although they were family, Hendrix had the final say. He had tolerated her because he didn't want to seem petty, so he hid his fangs. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
After Jennifer left, the atmosphere in the hall finally calmed down.
Right then, Hendrix's eyes fell on Irvin. His eyes seemed to be soaked in ink, and his smile gave us goosebumps as he said, "Mr. Granger, I just happened to run into two acquaintances of yours. You should meet them."
With that, he raised his hand and snapped his fingers. A bodyguard from the side door entered the room, bringing out a woman and a boy with him.
The woman's face was shriveled,
and her cheeks were deeply sunken.
In such cold weather, she only had a long sleeve shirt. Her face looked pale, she seemed so feeble, as though a gust of wind could blow her over.
The boy was dressed in simple clothes and was seemingly timid and afraid. The mother and son snuggled up to each other and looked around warily. When the woman spotted Irvin, the expression on her face froze. She stood rooted to the ground as though she had been immobilized. Her eyes instantly welled up with tears.
Irvin, who was usually calm and composed, furrowed his eyebrows and had a conflicted expression on his face.
Hendrix's deep voice rang out once more, "Mr. Granger, this woman claims to be your wife and the child, your son. I'm curious. Since that's the case, does she know that you were engaged to Arianna?"
Wife? Son?
Although I knew that Irvin had his secrets, I was still surprised to hear Hendrix say that.
In all honesty, my feelings for Irvin
were leaning towards being a good friend. There was no lovey-dovey relationship between us. Even though he had lied about us being engaged before, I could accept that. What I couldn't accept was that his wife and child were forced to live a poor life while Irvin lived a
glamorous one.
Perhaps I should stand by Irvin's side and wait for the truth to be revealed before I chose a side, but the shock on his face was so obvious that it couldn't be ignored.
Irvin ignored Hendrix and appeared angry. He walked up to the woman and stared at her for a while before grabbing her by her wrist. He was about to take her and the child away.
As that happened, Evan's men hurried over to block their way.
Hendrix looked at the conflict unfolding calmly. He sat on the sofa and said without flinching, "Mr. Granger, you're so unruly. You want to take them away from my mansion before you've even
admitted your relationship
them.
Isn't that being much too disrespectful?"
