Chapter 1247
Dustin clicked the red "end call" button; he had to get to a meeting.
The meeting dragged on for three hours, and as soon as it wrapped up, his phone buzzed with a call from his mom, Sarah. She wanted to know if he was planning to visit Brielle today.
Dustin had already filled them in on Brielle's situation and the clear misunderstandings that needed to be ironed out with the Lynch family. He had firmly suggested they give her some space for now, but Sarah, ever the worrier, couldn't help herself. During the days Brielle was missing, Sarah barely slept a wink, spending her nights looking after Desiree instead. Now that Brielle was found, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Dustin managed to reassure his mom, but deep down, he was worried about Brielle too. Unable to resist, he dialed King's number.
At that moment, King was sound asleep, cuddling Brielle, having not rested well for days. Finally having her back, he was reluctant to wake up. Brielle was nestled in his arms, both showing no signs of waking until the ringtone pierced the silence. King's eyes snapped open, and he quickly pressed the answer button, whispering, "Hey, bro."
"How's Little Canary? Is she recovering?" Dustin asked.
"She hasn't woken up yet. I'm planning to have someone check on her today."
After a brief chat, King noticed Brielle's frown and then her eyes fluttering open. He quickly bid Dustin goodbye and wrapped his arms around her.
"Need more sleep?" he asked softly.
Brielle's expression turned frosty. She had come over last night to confront him, only to fall asleep. But seeing the bandage on King's shoulder, her icy words got stuck in her throat. The swelling on his face had gone down, but the bruises were still visible. Brielle looked away, silently getting out of bed. King lowered his gaze, still not daring to ask if she liked him, remembering her memories were stuck at a time she probably despised him the most. Myles knew this too well, striking right where it hurt.
This castle was familiar territory for Brielle, well-acquainted with its contents. Entering the bathroom, she noticed her items had been moved, yet she easily identified her toiletries.
After brushing her teeth in silence, she felt arms wrap around her waist.C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.
"Little Canary, now that you're back, does that mean you're staying?" Or had she walked right back into the lion's den?
Brielle stiffened, not wanting him to catch a glimpse of her hidden feelings. Besides, there was still no explanation about the child in the mansion.
"I'm heading to Beaconsfield for my graduation project," she stated flatly.
King's lips curved into a smile, tightening his embrace.
"Mind if I tag along?"
Brielle scoffed, trying to mock him.
"My legs are mine to use; what, am I supposed to chop them off to stop you?"
King chuckled, burying his face in the nape of her neck.
"Then, I'm coming."
Perhaps knowing some of Max's
memories now, he found her
deliberate coldness somewhat adorable Had she always been like this? Why then, had he only seen disdain before? Maybe Brielle didn't despise him as much as he thought.
After brushing her teeth, Brielle slapped his hands away with a loud "smack" and exited the bathroom. King remained inside, laughing. himself for a moment before
starting his morning routineelne
As Brielle stepped out of the bedroom, she bumped into Isaac. Isaac paused, awkwardly averting his gaze. Brielle stopped too, both looking at each other uncomfortably for a moment.
Just as Brielle opened her mouth to
greet him, Isaac nervously fiddled with Noir's ear, visibly tense at the thought of Brielle suddenly saying, "LittleCricket, I'm actually your mommy." He wasn't ready for that.
