Chapter 1058: I've Done My Best
Sandy looked at Brandon for a while before speaking softly, "Only two slaps?"
Brandon quickly picked up on the cue, "You can slap me as many times as you want, just so you're not
angry."
"My hand would hurt from slapping you."
"How about... you find someone else to do it?" NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
"No!" Sandy immediately rejected Brandon's suggestion.
Seeing Sandy's determination, Brandon decided not to push further. "Then what should we do?"
Sandy appeared to be seriously contemplating the question. After a few seconds, she leaned closer to
Brandon, "From now on, you need to report everything to me and nothing like this can happen again.
You have to write a guarantee letter and keep writing until I'm satisfied!"
Naturally, Brandon readily agreed to Sandy's request.
While Sandy had indeed been angry earlier, there was also an element of stubbornness in her
behavior. She had been somewhat unreasonable in her reaction, feeling wronged by the situation and
allowing her emotions to take over.
However, Brandon was also partly responsible for this. Over the years, he had pampered her to the
point of making her feel incapable. He had always been attentive and considerate, which contributed to
her current demeanor.
After their conversation, Brandon's mind was still occupied with the medicine Sandy had taken.
"Sandy."
Sandy hummed, resting her head on his leg, half-asleep.
Looking at her, Brandon hesitated to disturb her sleep, "Should we go to bed?"
Sandy shook her head, turned, and hugged Brandon's waist, "I want to sleep here. I haven't said I'm
not angry anymore; you're still in the probation period."
Brandon's lips curled up slightly, and he replied softly, "Alright."
After a while, when Brandon thought she was asleep, Sandy's muffled voice came through, "I've
already thrown away the medicine, so you don't need to worry."
Hearing this, Brandon's heart was immediately put at ease. He couldn't help but bend down and lightly
kiss her cheek.
Sandy's lips twitched, "No kissing."
"Alright."
"I want to go to bed."
"Alright."
Brandon bent down and picked her up from the couch.
As he carried her towards the bed, Sandy added, "I want to take a shower."
Brandon's steps halted, and he looked down at Sandy nestled in his arms. He coaxed, "We don't have
anything here. How about we go home?"
Sandy didn't say anything. Brandon continued, "I've prepared everything you usually use at home."
Sandy remained silent.
Brandon went on, "I've even bought several sets of your favorite sleepwear in different styles. Want to
take a look?"
Sandy still didn't respond, but she started fidgeting with Brandon's fingers.
Encouraged, Brandon continued, "I also got the perfume you liked the last time. How about it?"
"I'll think about it."
Knowing that Sandy was considering it, Brandon leaned down and whispered in her ear, "I've turned
the bed into a hammock."
As soon as Brandon's words were out, Sandy immediately said, "I want to go now."
"Alright."
With that, Brandon carried Sandy towards the door.
Once they reached the door, Sandy suggested, "Shouldn't we say goodbye to my sister?"
Brandon agreed and knocked on Stella's door.
Stella opened the door and looked at the two at the entrance, "Heading back already?"
Before Sandy could say anything, Stella preemptively spoke.
Sandy hesitated, "Um... I..."
"Alright, go back. Tomorrow morning, have Brandon pick me up, and we'll head to his place."
Stella interrupted Sandy's hesitant explanation.
Sandy agreed, "Okay."
Stella turned to Brandon, "You two go back."
Brandon nodded, "If you need anything, you can call me. Berton's staying nearby."
Stella replied, "I'm fine. Take this troublemaker back with you."
"Sis!" Sandy protested unhappily.
Stella paid no mind to Sandy and chatted with Brandon briefly before ushering them to leave.
Being led away by Brandon, Sandy was soon in the car. Brandon wrapped his arms around her,
holding her close. He whispered, "What about your luggage?"
Sandy realized her things were still with Anthony. She sat up straight and reached for her phone, ready
to call him.
Before Sandy could dial, Brandon placed a hand on hers. "I'll have Berton get it for you."
Sandy gave Brandon a glance and decided not to call Anthony, but she messaged him instead.
After sending the message, it didn't take long for Anthony to call.
Seeing Anthony's call, Brandon frowned slightly, but he didn't say anything.
Sandy hesitated before answering the call, "Hello?"
"Are things resolved?" Anthony asked directly after the call connected.
Sandy affirmed, "Someone will go get my things. Could you help with that?"
There was a brief silence on Anthony's end before he replied, "Alright," then added softly, "Are we still
friends?"
Sandy didn't hesitate and answered, "Of course."
"Okay, we'll be in touch."
Anthony didn't linger and ended the call.
Brandon observed Sandy hanging up and saw a slight relaxation in her expression. He wanted to say
something, but he held back, realizing it wasn't the right time.
The atmosphere in the car was somewhat settled for the moment.
Just as Brandon was about to take advantage of the situation, his phone rang.
He furrowed his brows, picked up his phone, and saw Nelson's call.
In fact, Brandon knew what Nelson was calling about without even answering the call. This matter
needed to be handled sooner or later. He answered, "Nelson."
"Where are you?" Nelson's voice came through.
"Is there something you need?" Brandon asked.
Nelson's voice was low, "I'm at the hospital now. Olive's condition isn't great. The doctor said..."
"Nelson." Brandon cut him off, his tone firm, "I've done my best. I'm not God, I can't perform miracles,
and I don't have superpowers to make her instantly better."
In just these two sentences, Nelson could discern Brandon's attitude.
Nelson had also heard about Sandy's arrival in Viteto and the unpleasant situation between them. After
a brief silence, he explained awkwardly, "I just felt that since we grew up together, I should come see
her in her current state."
