Chapter 12: She Lied To Him Again

Chapter 12: She Lied To Him Again

"Am I supposed to be an orphan? I guess so, since my mother passed away," Alvera shrugged.

She raised her eyebrows and asked, "Are you sure you want to continue to talk to me in this position?"

Roland stared at her intently as she changed the subject.

"Where did your brother come from?" He asked.

"He's my half-brother from my father's side. We didn't live together, but his mother was nice to me, so

we have a good relationship," she told him. "Do you like this answer, Mr. Francois?"

Roland replied disdainfully, "Your family's dynamic is too messy."

"Indeed, but it's not our fault that our father is a scumbag," Alvera agreed. "Can you get off of me now,

Mr. Francois? I haven't eaten yet, so I don't have the strength to carry you."

Roland stood up and checked his watch. "You haven't eaten? It's only five o'clock now."

"I meant lunch," she said.

Roland glanced at her coldly.

She rolled her eyes and smiled. "Mr. Francois, the surgery is starting soon, but I'm craving some

snacks now. I probably won't be able to eat for a long time after the operation, so can you bring me

out?"

Her tone was inquisitive, but her actions said otherwise. Alvera had already gotten off the bed and had

found her clothes from the wardrobe.

"We're not going," he said coldly.

"Mr. Francois, I'm exchanging my liver for a meal. It's a great deal for you," she said as she headed into

the bathroom to change.

She was dressed within two minutes.

"Come on, let's go." She grabbed his wrist and pulled him out.

Roland had always disliked indecent women like her.

Not even Andrina was allowed to pull him by the wrist without his consent.

Logically speaking, he should be angry, but he felt no anger towards Alvera right now.

...

He brought her out of the hospital for dinner.

In the car, Alvera directed him towards a taco shop opposite the Calgary Middle School.

"My God, I didn't think the shop would still be here," Alvera said, pleasantly surprised.

Roland frowned. "This is the snack that you're craving?"

Alvera turned and smiled at him charmingly. "Yes, rigth here."

She walked into the taco shop.

Roland glanced furtively around the dirty street before following her in.

...

"I'll have two chicken enchiladas, a plate of tostadas, and two fajitas," Alvera said loudly over the bustle

of the shop. "Extra hot sauce, please!"

Hearing her voice, the shop owner came out from the kitchen. "Hey, I thought that order was familiar.

It's you! I haven't seen you since you graduated, young lady."

Alvera smiled at the middle-aged shop owner and said, "I'm not a young lady now. Hurry up with the

food, I'm hungry."

"Okay, it won't take long," the shop owner replied cheerfully.

Roland looked at the chair in disgust and remained standing opposite her.

Alvera raised her head to look at him. "What's wrong, Mr. Francois, too dirty for you?"

He snorted and said nothing.

Alvera pouted and took some napkins and wiped down his chair for him. She tilted her head and

glanced at him, smiling. "There, please take a seat."

...

Roland sat down and said, "Hurry up and eat so we can leave."

The shop owner brought out the food she ordered. He looked at Roland and said teasingly to Alvera,

"Your boyfriend? He's quite the looker."

"This is my husband," She said, smiling.

"What a perfect match." The shop owner returned to the kitchen after complimenting them.

Roland fixed his gaze on Alvera's excited face. "Do you know the shop owner?"

...

"Sort of. I used to come here with my boyfriend often," she replied.

"Boyfriend?"

She pursed her lips and said, "Mr. Francois, I was very popular in high school, you know. You can't

really expect someone with my looks to be a loner."

Roland's face turned colder. "Hurry up and eat. Don't talk nonsense."

She picked up one of the enchiladas and took a bite. "Wow, this is delicious. This was what I dreamed

of eating in prison when I'm hungry. Amazing." Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Roland frowned. "Why were you hungry in prison?"

She looked dazed for a moment. "Because... I was disobedient."

She picked up a fajita and offered it to him. "Do you want to try, Mr. Francois?"

"No thanks," he said.

He knew she had lied to him again, and even changed the subject so he wouldn't ask any further.

...

"D*mn it," he thought. "She really has a way to spoil my mood."
