Chapter 240: Adam's Letter

“Adam, where are you? What is it? Are you okay?” Arabella immediately answered her phone and

bombarded Adam with questions.

“Mom, I’m fine. I called because I’m worried about you. Where are you?” Adam sounded on the other

line. His tone was like a worried adult.

Her heart had regained its calm.

“hmmm…” She turned around to look at the man who was lying on the bed.

Bill's eyes were closed and her eyes caught his right shoulder.

She knew the bullet pierced in his right shoulder this morning.

He probably felt pained and drowsy.

She didn’t know how it felt but deep inside her, she hoped he get well soon before she exited his room.

“Arabella? What happened?” Eric came fast running towards her.

They tried everything but the door couldn’t be opened from the outside.

Bill’s men strode quickly inside to check their boss.

“I’m okay. What happened here?” She frowned.

“What’s with the gunshot inside? Are you hurt?” Eric’s sounded worried and displeased as he was

flipping Arabella’s head side to side.

She couldn’t help but chuckle at Eric’s overreaction.

“I’m okay. That was nothing.” She answered with a smile.

“And Bill Sky?” Eric still couldn’t find his calm.

“He’s…: Arabella staggered. “He is fine.” She pulled herself together and finished her sentence.

Remembering Bill Sky, she had irked.

He then closed her door.

He went to the driver's seat and started the engine.

“Tell me everything now.” Eric sounded while driving.

“Bill is going to get Adam away from me.” Arabella’s tears were started to assemble in her eyes.

Just thinking about not seeing Adam, her heart was already broken.

“He wanted me to sign the divorce contract but I can't have Adam.” She continued while a drop of tear

started to run down on her cheek.

“Bill Sky…” Eric uttered while his grip on the steering wheel hardened.

“I will take care of everything. Call Adam now.” Knowing Bill Sky in the business, this man is so

They had to think in advance before he could make his move.

Good thing, he was still admitted to the hospital now.

“Adam, son, I need you to get ready. I am coming to get you. We are going abroad now.” Arabella was

trying to sound calm.

She didn’t want Adam to be in a panic situation because of her.

“Where are we going, mommy?” Adam asked with all his curiosity.

He could not think of any reason his mom would ask him to leave in the middle of the night unless it

was an emergency.

“Ahhh… Uncle Eric… He wanted us to go with him where he lives.” That was the only alibi she could

find while she looked at Eric with a guilty and pleading expression.

“What about Ivan? Is he joining?” Adam asked.

“Ah… Ivan…” Arabella looked at Eric for an answer but Eric looked at her seriously then he shook his

head.

That was a refusal and Arabella quickly got it. “Listen to me, Adam… Ivan can’t come with us but he

could follow or visit us there. Okay?” Arabella knew Adam would be very sad so she already made an

advanced statement to appease Adam.

Adam didn’t answer on the other line but she could hear his breathing.

Arabella knew her son turned sad right after he heard her words, she knew how much Adam loved his

new friend Ivan.

He treated Ivan as his real brother.

“Adam, are you there?” Arabella sounded trying to break Adam’s silence.

“Yeah, mom. I’ll be packing up right now.” His voice had no glow but he felt he had to do what his

mother asked him to do.

“Thank you, Adam, for being a good son.” She complimented before she ended the call.

"Mommy?" Adam muttered melancholy.

"Yes my son," She answered.

"I love you so much." Adam sounded sincere.

Arabella felt her heart was overwhelmed with happiness.

Only Adam could give her so much joy in her life.

“Is Adam, okay?” Eric asked worriedly.

Arabella looked at Eric then she smirked and shook her head.

“He was sad knowing Ivan is not coming with us,” Arabella announced with her tone also gloomy.

“I’m sorry for that. Ivan’s custody is with his grandmother. I can’t carry him with me as that’s one of his

grandma’s conditions. I have to follow as she only allows me to be with Ivan when I’m here. For now, I

have to get her trust as I am preparing for Ivan’s custody to be transferred to my name.” Eric implied.

His expression had turned gloomy too.

“Is that possible, brother?” She asked worriedly.

Eric smirked and moved his head side to side.

Then he nodded.

“Then why just now? I mean, the boy loved you so much and you love him too. You are the powerful

billionaire Eric Grant, why the court in favor of Ivan’s grandma?” Arabella couldn’t help to ask as her

curiosity was eating her up.

Eric heaved a deep sigh. It seemed Arabella’s question was very hard to answer.

He looked at her. He smirked again.

“The court was not into my status,” Eric announced making Arabella frown.

Through his words, her curiosity had surged up rapidly.

“The court wanted me to give Ivan a family. They wanted me to get married. By that, they would allow

me to adopt Ivan as they are sure that I can give Ivan a complete family.” Eric announced as his eyes

Great disappointment was traced in his tone.

“Brother…” Arabella saw Eric’s sudden change of mood.

She held his shoulder.

“Do you need my help?” She asked while her expression was very eager and determined to help him.

For her, she could easily sell Eric to women.

“Okay but remember, time is moving quickly. Bill Sky won’t delay anything even if he was there lying in

When she got there, Eric just waited for her inside the car.

She had to get Adam quickly and bring him abroad using Eric’s private plane.

to go abroad quickly. Please call me if he's awake. I will be the one to explain It to him. Okay?” Arabella

cut her statement. She knew Damien would understand.

“Don’t worry, Ms. J. I will take care of Damien.” Lira said sweetly.

She also promised to keep an eye on Bill Sky.

By that, she would easily know his location and plans.

After she accomplished her mission in the hospital, the two got home quickly.

Eric’s men were on the ground.

Eric was already anticipating everything Bill might do.

No one answered.

It was already in the middle of the night so Arabella thought the two kids were already sleeping or

Adam got to sleep while he was waiting for them.

Seeing Eric’s men surrounded the mansion, Arabella found her calm for a little while.

She was sure Adam and Ivan were safe inside.

She knocked on the door of the two little boys but no one answered.

“Adam? Mommy is here.” She said almost shouting for Adam to hear her.

But there’s no reply from the inside.

Instantly, her heart got panic.

She entered inside running.

The room was dark.

She prayed in her heart that the two were just sleeping but she started to feel nervous.

Switching the lights in Ivan’s room, she heaved a sigh of relief seeing Ivan’s face sleeping soundly but

she almost collapsed after her eyes caught the empty space beside Ivan.

She felt her heart wanted to jump outside and find Adam.

Her knees had softened as she instantly turned pale.

“Adam! Adam!” She called out but there was no answer until she saw a paper on the bedside table.

She stormed to get and read it.

Arabella was 100% sure that it was her son’s penmanship.

Slowly her heart had stopped beating.

Beads of cold sweat instantly appeared on her forehead.

She had a bad feeling about it.

She quickly read the letter though she didn’t want to.

She was not ready for what was inside.

“Mom, I’m sorry again for disappointing you.

Please forgive me and don't get mad at me. I heard dad is in the hospital. I want to see him. I don’t

think I can be with you abroad. I’m sorry that I have to write it here because I don’t want to hear you

cry. I tried my best to forget about dad but my heart was tearing apart knowing he was hurt. I really

want to see him. I hope you will forgive me, mom. Please do not cry. I love you, mom.”

After reading Adam’s letter, Arabella leaned her body on the wall for support as she could feel her

knees get weak.

She could not stand properly.

In that instant, she just wanted to collapse.

Maybe when she woke up, everything was just a dream.

“Adam…” She muttered hugging Adam’s letter on her chest while beads of tears started to roll down

her cheeks.
