Chapter 7 An Impure Woman
“Miss Stone? I’m Mr Silverton’s assistant. Mr Silverton requests your presence. Follow me, please.”
Seeing Xander, Freya Stone first hesitated, then quickly lowered her gaze, trying to conceal the recognition in her eyes. Last time, when she treated someone on behalf of Orion Russo, this man opened the door. He was Elijah’s assistant?
Was Elijah the one she treated?
“Miss Stone, please.” Xander, seeing her hesitation, emphasized.
Freya collected her thoughts and said, “I still have to go to work.”
It was an obvious refusal. She didn’t want to meet that man.
“Miss Stone, think carefully. Given your current status, upsetting Mr Silverton could cost you more than your job. It could ruin your entire career as a doctor.”
It was clearly a threat.
Freya clenched her fists. Her father only provided the surgery fee; her mother’s treatment and nursing expenses relied entirely on her salary. She couldn’t afford to lose her job or give up her career as a doctor. She had no choice but to agree to go with Xander.
“Wait for me, I’ll make a call to the hospital to take a leave.” She went upstairs, made the call, and put a surgical knife from the drawer into her bag for self-defense.This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
After a quick tidy-up, she headed downstairs.
Soon she was taken to an entertainment venue. Freya Stone had never been to such a place. Couples embraced everywhere, and women chatted in corners.
“The man who does business with Elijah in the exclusive VIP on the top floor is said to be particularly lecherous and plays perversely.”
“Is it the one who nearly played a girl to death last time?”
“Yes, him.”
“Tsk tsk, don’t know who’s unlucky this time. As long as it’s not one of us, that’s fine. I heard that the last girl, though she survived, can’t bear children anymore. No idea how she was tortured like that.”
Freya’s scalp tingled as she listened, especially when she heard Elijah Silverton’s name in their conversation. She felt anxious, palms sweating.
The elevator stopped soon. Xander noticed her pale face and kindly reminded her, “You are well aware of how you married Mr Silverton. Just sign the divorce agreement, and you can skip this gathering.”
Indeed, the Silverton family owed a favor to the Stone family, and the Stone family made a condition that the Silverton family couldn’t refuse. However, if Freya Stone willingly agreed to the divorce, this matter would be over.
Freya looked at Xander, her body trembling slightly. If she could refuse, she wouldn’t have married that man, and Elijah wouldn’t have a chance to coerce her. She took a deep breath, reluctantly walking into the elevator with Xander.
Xander frowned, not saying much, and led her into a luxurious private room. In the dim light, she immediately saw Elijah sitting on the sofa and a man beside him.
“Hey.” As soon as she entered, she attracted the man’s attention. He looked her up and down without reservation, commenting, “Not bad. This fair skin, like porcelain. The small waist, a little cuddle, must be very soft in my arms.”
He waved, “Come here, sit next to me.”
Freya looked at Elijah. He leaned back, legs elegantly crossed, his entire face shrouded in shadows. She couldn’t discern any expression from him.
The man stood up directly, his arm lightly draped over her shoulder.
Laughing at Elijah, he said, “Where did you find her? More appealing than those heavily made-up girls. This clean and fresh appearance suits my taste.”
Elijah remained silent, neither stopping the man’s actions nor speaking. Was this his tacit approval?
Freya felt a chill, tightening her fingers and gripping her bag.
“Do you drink?” The man asked, his hand moving toward her waist.
Disgusted, she shifted her body. “No.”
“It’s okay, I’ll teach you.” The man poured a full glass of alcohol and offered it to her mouth.
She tried to avoid it, but the man hugged her, and she struggled, “Let me go…”
“Entertaining my client is also your duty.” Elijah leaned forward, his features clearly defined in the dim light, his pupils calm, and the downturned eyebrows seemed indifferent. “If you can’t handle it, pack up your things and leave!”
She thought he simply disliked her, at worst treated her like garbage or air. But she didn’t expect him to be so despicable.
“I’ll drink.” She pushed the man away. Taking the glass he offered, she hesitated for a moment, then lifted her head and downed it.
It was her first time drinking. It was strong, the alcohol burning from her throat to her stomach, hot and spicy.
Freya frowned, looking alluring. The man couldn’t wait, “Mr Silverton, can I take her away?”
Freya suddenly felt a shock. Subconsciously trying to escape, when she looked up, she met deep, pitch-black eyes. Was this man intentionally trying to humiliate her?
Soon, Elijah diverted his gaze. “… Do as you please.”
The man laughed, embracing Freya Stone. This time, she didn’t resist. They walked out of the private room together.
Xander approached, “Miss Stone is going with Ronan Vega… I’m afraid her innocence won’t be guaranteed. She…”
Although he wanted her to back down willingly and agree to divorce, he didn’t want her to really lose her innocence.
Elijah poured himself a glass of wine, downing it in one gulp. His gaze was cold, “Do you think she’s pure?”
Xander was shocked, his eyes widened. Not only was the Stone family greedy, but the woman they sent was also impure? He suddenly felt angry. He even had a bit of sympathy for Freya Stone before. Now it seemed that sympathy was not worth it.
“Clearly knowing we’re intentionally making things difficult for her, she still won’t willingly agree to a divorce. It seems she won’t easily let go.” Xander said, thinking that Freya Stone wanted to stay in the Silverton family by all means.
“Mr Silverton…”
“Let’s go.” Elijah interrupted him, looking calm. Obviously, he didn’t want to hear anything more about Freya Stone.
Xander wisely remained silent, walking ahead to open the door to the private room.
Sitting in the car, fleeting lights quickly passed by. Elijah’s mind was filled with the image of the woman willingly going with Ronan Vega.
She knew what would happen, yet she agreed?
That woman…
“Turn around.”
Xander was puzzled at first but quickly understood. He immediately turned back to the club. However, they didn’t find anyone in the club; they had already left. Elijah’s face darkened, ordering Xander to return to the villa. But Freya Stone wasn’t there either.
“Go and find…”
Before Elijah could finish his sentence, the door was pushed open, and Freya’s voice followed.
“Linda…”
She couldn’t drink much; one glass made her slightly drunk. It wasn’t the calm and self-control bestowed by her profession; she might really not be able to come back.
However, Linda stood there, not daring to approach her.
“Lin…” When Freya was about to call again, she finally noticed the man standing in the living room.
