You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 23 Fear

Elijah looked at her curvaceous body, his gaze uncontrollably deepening and his pupils trembling slightly. His Adam’s apple bobbed up and down as he struggled to restrain his tone. “Do you think this is enough to seduce me?”

Actually, he was indeed tempted. However, his self-esteem did not allow him to have feelings for a woman like her.

“I, I, I didn’t…” Freya pulled up her towel to cover herself.

“Don’t show me your dirty body in front of me again.” After saying that, he slammed the door and left.

He strode towards the adjacent room, avoiding any further sight of Freya Stone. But all he could think about was Freya Stone’s alluring body, like a movie, replaying the most exciting part over and over again. He couldn’t control his own brain.

Elijah tugged at the collar irritably and forcefully. It was clearly not strangling, but he felt like he was being suffocated and couldn’t breathe. Restless and agitated, he felt like exploding. He muttered under his breath, “Damn woman!”

Her art of seduction was truly a skill.

What made him angry was that he had been fooled by her.

He took off his tie and walked into the bathroom, unbuttoning his shirt as he went. He tried to calm himself down by splashing cold water on his face.

This was Elijah’s most embarrassing moment, all because of Freya Stone.

Freya almost didn’t sleep a wink that night because of this incident. Although she had indulged herself before, she was not a frivolous person. When someone looked at her body, she felt both embarrassed and angry. But she dared to be angry yet dared not speak out. She could not afford to provoke him because he was someone she couldn’t mess with.

In the morning, she came downstairs with dark circles under her eyes. Having learned her lesson, she wore long sleeves and pants.

Linda was ready with breakfast.

“What about him?” she asked.

“Mr Silverton has already gone out very early,” Linda said with a smile, “Come down and have breakfast quickly.”

Freya breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully he wasn’t there, the meal tasted so much better. After finishing breakfast, she left home. For several days in a row, she couldn’t find a suitable job.

Elijah hadn’t come back in the past few days, and she was happy and carefree. Freya had even let her guard down.

She received a response to her online resume submission for a position as a dance teacher. Her Latin dance was already at level ten, but she hadn’t obtained a teaching certificate yet. However, this place was willing to give her a chance to try. She also made careful preparations for the interview.

Freya hadn’t danced for many years, but she had a solid foundation in the basic skills she learned since childhood. Coupled with her slender figure, she still danced quite gracefully.

“Okay,” she said.

During her free time, she was eager to have a job. She cherished this opportunity. At this moment, she had to thank Leo Stone. She didn’t like dancing, but her father used not allowing her to go to school as leverage for her to learn it. She had never thought that it would come in handy now.

After working in the dance studio for a few days, she found some feeling for it. Although she still didn’t love it as much as before, at least she no longer rejected it like when she was younger. The students who came to class were between four and twelve years old. She taught the small class with more than ten students who were six or seven-year-old girls. Being with children made her become childlike and cheerful again, temporarily forgetting about the troubles of life.

After finishing the last class of the day, Ms Quinn walked in and smiled at Freya asking, “Freya, do you have free time tonight?”

Freya nodded and thought Ms Quinn might have some work-related things to discuss with her but instead asked, “Do you have a boyfriend?”

Freya answered hesitantly “No.”

Technically speaking, Freya didn’t actually have a boyfriend since she and Elijah were just a couple with imaginary titles.

Ms Quinn’s face lit up with joy as if they were close friends; then came over and took Freya’s arm saying, “I need your help with something.”

Ms Quinn was nice; during these days of work together, she took care of Freya very well so now being so intimate made Freya feel uncomfortable.

Freya gently pulled out her arm saying, “If there is anything I can do for you just tell me directly; if I can help then I will try my best, but if I cannot… then sorry.”

Ms Quinn hesitated for a moment before continuing, “My husband is the boss of Racom Pharmaceutical Company; he has a team under him which has been researching cancer drugs for several years investing large amounts of money into research & development . Now we’ve made some progress but lack funds so he wants investors. But not everyone is willing, there are people willing to invest now but last time they agreed on meeting up yet failed show up making my husband think they may be having second thoughts about investing since he’s single, and he’s quite excellent…”

“Uh…” interrupted Freya,”I don’t quite understand what this has got anything related me?”

What did this have to do with her?

Besides, Freya had no money to invest. As a doctor, she certainly hoped that the more such pharmaceutical industries, the better. If she had a lot of money, she would be willing to help unconditionally, but the reality was that she was also an ordinary person running for life. She couldn’t be of much help.

Ms Quinn continued directly, “That’s it, my husband wants to find a beautiful girl and go see his client with him…”

“Wait…” Freya understood somewhat.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

Did this require her to accompany the client for drinks, solicit investment, or make a greater sacrifice?

“I’m very grateful that you gave me a job, but I’m not a bartender, and I don’t know how to please people, so I can’t help you with this.” She clearly refused.

Ms Quinn was aware that this was a bit overwhelming and it was also a bad idea.

She waved her hand in frustration, “I understand this, I’m asking too much.” She sighed and continued, “To be honest, it’s not that my husband can’t find investment, he just doesn’t want to accept investment from foreign consortiums, otherwise he will be controlled by others in the future. That’s not what he wants to see.”

Freya looked at Ms Quinn. Over time, she found her to be warm-hearted and responsible, strict in dealing with students and teachers yet considerate in interpersonal matters-a discerning individual.

“I used to be a doctor, so I understand what you mean,” Freya tightened her grip on her hands. She was well aware that once international financial institutions intervened, the future drug prices would be controlled by these institutions. The ones suffering would be the poor who couldn’t afford medication. Even though she was no longer a doctor, that sense of responsibility remained.

“Should I give it a try?” She had no experience with such matters and wasn’t sure if it would succeed.

Ms Quinn, in her forties and maintaining a graceful figure due to her background as a dancer, bore the marks of time on her face without the harshness of weathering. It was evident that her marriage was harmonious.

Freya admired her–a fulfilling marriage and the ability to pursue a beloved career to satisfaction.

Meanwhile, she found herself in a job far removed from her dreams, and her marriage was a mess.

“Really?” Ms Quinn was ecstatic, holding Freya’s hand. “Thank you, Freya.”

“It’s okay. But I’m not sure if I can be of help.”

“We’ll do our best, as long as we can justify it to ourselves.”

Freya felt anxious but accepted Ms Quinn’s suggestion. She applied light makeup and dressed slightly more revealing than usual. On the way, she visited a pharmacy, just as a precaution. Sacrificing herself was not something she could genuinely do; she wasn’t that noble.

Soon, she arrived at a high-end restaurant and met Ms Quinn’s husband, Maddox Greyson. He was not yet fifty, but there were already traces of white hair at his temples.

Freya sat down, and as the door to the private room opened, she looked up to see Xander, followed by a tall figure appearing at the entrance.
