Chapter 13
Chapter 13
“Mr. Gavin brought you here, miss. The drug effect has been neutralized, and the prescription you
requested for Mr. Matthew is ready to be picked up whenever you’d like.” the servant replied with the
utmost respect.
“Hmm,” Natalie acknowledged. She had called King before she passed out, so it must be King who had
arranged for Gavin to bring her over.
She took a moment to gather herself, then threw back the covers and swung her legs over the edge of
the bed, massaging her forehead as she inquired, “Where’s Max?”
“Max is not at The Aerie today,” the servant answered.
Natalie nodded in understanding. Max’s whereabouts were always a mystery, and she didn’t bother to
ask further. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Taking the medicine from the servant, she asked, “How much do I owe for this?”
“Max said there’s no charge.”
Natalie chuckled and said, “Let’s keep things professional. It’s for the Wright family, not for my personal
use.”
She pulled an overseas credit card out from her purse and handed it to the servant, saying, “Go ahead
and charge whatever the cost is. I’ll explain to Max later.”
After she changed into fresh clothes, her phone suddenly lit up with a video call request.
It was from King. He usually didn’t video call her directly unless it was Nina.
Thinking of Nina’s adorable face softened Natalie’s expression, and she accepted the call.
“Dear Natalie,” the sweet voice sang out as the screen showed a cherubic face with pigtail braids
pressing close, eyes full of worry. “Are you feeling better?”
Nina’s features were strikingly similar to Natalie’s.
“Watch your manners,” Natalie gently chided, her gaze filled with affection. “I’m fine now. Tell. King that
I thank him for having Gavin help out.”
“When are you returning?” Nina pressed, her voice laced with a hint of sadness. “I miss you.”
“Sweetie, I’ll be back once I wrap things up here. Be good and listen to King while I’m away.” Mid–
conversation, Natalie glanced at the time. It was past nine at night in Bluestar Country.
“It’s bedtime. No more phone for you tonight,” Natalie advised softly, and with some reluctance, Nina
ended the call.
The servant returned with her card just in time.
Dressed anew, Natalie took medicine for Matthew and walked through the bustling crowd.
At five in the morning. The Aerie was still packed, with people coming and going constantly. An auction
was underway on stage in the dim and suggestive lighting.
Natalie glanced at the stage without much interest, but as she turned away, she caught sight of Brian at
the entrance about to enter. Surrounded by a crowd, he carried himself with a distinguished air.
Her heart skipped a beat as she quickly averted her gaze. Why did Brian show up at The Aerie all of a
sudden?
With Brian in the spotlight and herself in the shadows. Natalie retreated to a spot where the light failed
to reach, stealing glances in his direction.
Brian sat near the VIP section, seemingly unaware of her presence.
Natalie dared not let her guard down and was about to exit through an alternate route when she
accidentally bumped into someone.
“Watch where you’re going!” the man raised his voice in annoyance.
“I’m so sorry!” Natalie immediately apologized, bowing her head.
“Forget it,” another man by his side muttered. “Brian’s waiting. Let’s not waste time.”
Upon hearing Brian’s name, Natalie acted more apologetically, continuing her apologies with her head
down.
“What rotten luck,” the man grumbled as they moved away, allowing Natalie to breathe a sigh of relief.
Brian noticed the commotion in a corner not too far away, his gaze sweeping over the area.
The two men involved were there to meet him, and he recognized them instantly.
His eyes then fell on the tall woman apologizing profusely. Even in a simple coat and jeans, she
stood out.
Brian frowned, something about her silhouette striking a familiar chord.
