CHAPTER 458
Chapter 458
“Where’s the watch? Hand it over!”
“Hmph.”
With a scoff, the man reached into his coat pocket and, in a swift motion, drew out a switchblade, plunging it towards Edgar!
Then, he pushed Edgar to the ground with force and took off!
“Edgar!” Sherilyn arrived just in time to witness the scene.
Her face turned pale in an instant, her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground beside Edgar. “Edgar! Where are you hurt?”
“It’s nothing…”
Supporting his arm, Edgar looked towards Sherilyn, whose face was ashen, and gave her a weak smile. “Don’t worry, it’s just my arm. It’s nothing serious.”
Nothing serious?
Blood was seeping through his fingers where he clutched his arm. How could this be ‘nothing serious‘?
“We need to get to the hospital now!” Sherilyn helped Edgar to his feet. “Come on, we have to go now!”
“Okay…” Edgar nodded, apologizing. “I’m sorry I couldn’t get your watch back for you.”
“At a time like this, you’re worried about the watch?”
Sherilyn shook her head in disapproval. If she had known chasing after a watch would get Edgar hurt, she would have never pursued it.
“The car’s here, get in!”
“Alright.”
On the way to the theater, Gilbert received a call from David. NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
“David. I’ll be there soon.”
“Mr. Gilbert.” David sounded concerned. “I got here on time, but Ms. Sherilyn is nowhere to be found. Also, her phone’s going straight to voicemail.”
What? Gilbert’s brow furrowed. “Okay, I got it. I’ll try calling her.”
“Alright.”
15:01
After hanging up, Gilbert immediately tried calling Sherilyn.
Just as David had said, there was no answer from Sherilyn. Was Sherilyn upset?
But Gilbert tried calling again, and this time, to his surprise, she picked up.
“Hello?”
“Sherilyn.” Gilbert breathed a sigh of relief, “I’m almost at the theater. Where are you? Have you come out? Which exit?”
However, Sherilyn responded, “I’m not at the theater.”
Gilbert felt a sinking feeling, “Then where did you go?”
“I’m at the hospital.”
Sherilyn didn’t hide the truth and recounted the whole incident.
“Okay, I understand. I’m on my way there now.”
After hanging up, Gilbert’s face darkened with concern.
Edgar again. When will this end?
At the hospital.
When Gilbert arrived, he found Sherilyn supporting Edgar as they sat on a bench.
The emergency room visit had revealed that Edgar’s arm was in worse condition than they thought. The stab was deep, and there was concern about nerve damage, necessitating surgery. They were now waiting for the preparations to be completed.
Sherilyn was filled with remorse and self–blame. She wondered if she was some kind of jinx; every time Edgar was around her, he ended up getting hurt.
“It’s all
my fault.”
“Don’t say that.” Edgar couldn’t stand to see her upset. “You didn’t do the stabbing. If anyone’s to blame, it’s that thief. Don’t punish yourself for someone else’s mistakes, okay?”
“Edgar…”
Tears welled up in Sherilyn’s eyes.
He was still so kind, seemingly incapable of holding a grudge, no matter what happened, always free from bitterness.
How could there be someone so gentle in this world?
“Don’t cry.”
Edgar reached into his pocket for a tissue, intending to clean her tears for her.

But he stopped himself…
He no longer had the right to do so.
“Here” Edgar handed her the tissue. “Clean your tears. I still need you to run around for me.”
“Ugh.”
Sherilyn’s tears turned into laughter as she looked up at him. “Yes, Mr. Ferguson.“
