Whispers Turn

CHAPTER 439

Chapter 439

Sherilyn thought to herself, “Of course Jenna matters more than you. How could you ever compete with Jenna, even in the slightest?”

But that was something she could never say out loud…

“Where are you?” Sherilyn bit her lip, trying to soothe him, “Let’s meet and talk about it, okay?”

“Where am I?” Gilbert chuckled bitterly in self–mockery, throwing the question back at her, “What do you think?”

They had plans, he was supposed to pick her up from the dance studio.

“I got it.” Sherilyn frowned slightly, “I’ll come to you right now, can you wait for me, please?”

On the other end, Gilbert gave no clear response.

After hanging up, Sherilyn rushed to the dance studio.

When she got there, she could see Gilbert’s car right away.

Sherilyn ran over, pulled the passenger side door open – it was unlocked. She bent slightly

and sat down inside.

The car’s heater was on, making the interior warm and cozy.

Sherilyn caught her breath, pondering over how to navigate through tonight’s

predicament.

“Speak.”

Suddenly, Gilbert turned to look at her, his gaze falling on her, “Where have you been? What was so important?”

“I…” Sherilyn struggled to find an explanation. “Just something came up with my

roommate.”

“Really?”

That was her explanation?

Gilbert couldn’t hide his surprise, his eyes filling with disbelief, “Sherilyn, I waited for you all night long, and you stood me up for a roommate?!

Yes.” Sherilyn frowned, looking down.

Fair is fair, standing him up was her fault.

Moreover, she couldn’t afford to have a fallout with him right now.

“Gilbert.” Sherilyn apologized sincerely, “I’m sorry for breaking our plans, it was my fault… I owe you an apology…”

“So, what was so important?” Gilbert cut her off, his voice rising in anger. “A roommate? What’s so damn important about a roommate that you ditched our date and ignored my calls? Huh?”

Sherilyn lowered her gaze, unable to meet his eyes, “I’m sorry, I can’t tell you…”

Can’t tell? What a convenient excuse!

Gilbert felt his anger boiling over, suddenly gripping her shoulders.

“What am I to you, huh? Our plans get screwed up, and I don’t even deserve a clear explanation? Do you have any idea, any idea at all…”

How he had spent those hours?

Worried sick about her possibly being in trouble while simultaneously furious at her disregard for their plans!

He was tormented between hope and anger for her!

And in the end, to not even get a clear explanation?

“Sherilyn, I’m your boyfriend. Do you not care about me at all, not consider how I feel?” Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.

His disappointment and dissatisfaction were palpable.

But all Sherilyn could say was, “I’m sorry, it was my

it was my fault.”

An apology? Was that what he wanted? This apology sounded so half–hearted and absurd!

Ah, what a joke.

Gilbert laughed coldly, his eyes suddenly turning icy, finding the whole situation utterly pointless.

“Do whatever you want then.”

He let go of her, grabbed the steering wheel, and started the car.

As the car began to move, he asked her, “Are you coming with me or not?”

Shocked, Sherilyn quickly nodded, “Of course.”

Watching his stern profile, she realized, he was genuinely angry, very angry…

The ride back was silent.

He acted as if Sherilyn didn’t exist, driving straight to Golden Oak Manor. Once inside, he
