When Love Turns Cold

CHAPTER 99

Chapter 0099

The man wore a black suit, with royal blue cufflinks that stood out. The light–colored Patek Philippe he wore gave him a vintage touch. It somehow complemented the mask he wore, which was the mask of the Phantom of the Opera,

Miranda met his smiling eyes and instantly recognized him.

It was Sam!

“I’m sorry. I don’t know how to dance.”

However, Sam replied assuredly, “I saw you dancing backstage once when we were still in college.”

Miranda was momentarily at a loss for words as Sam exposed her lies.

She recalled when that happened. He must be talking about that solo dance she couldn’t perform at the graduation party during her fourth year.

She practiced that dance for two months but eventually couldn’t perform it because she injured her calf. She had almost forgotten all about it. To think Sam would know about it. Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

At that moment, the host said something onstage, and the spotlight swept across the crowd. Waves of screams rang out throughout the room, each wave louder than the last.

Suddenly, the spotlight stopped on Miranda and Sam, encircling them in a circle of white light.

Sam smiled. “The ball has a rule–the couple on whom the spotlight shines must dance together. Even god can’t bear to see me being rejected. Do you really want to disappoint everyone else?”

As he spoke, he bowed before her with an arm extended, inviting her for a dance.

Everyone else started cheering them on.

“Take his hand! Take his hand!”

“Dance! Dance!”

Miranda gritted her teeth. She bit the bullet and placed her hand on his. Sam immediately led her to the center of the dance floor.

A step forward and another backward, followed by a twirl and a hug. The tall, handsome Phantom held an adorable, sly fox in his arms.

While his figure entwined with the flaps of her skirt, their gazes met. Sám smiled, feeling delighted and

content.

Not only did Miranda know how to dance, but she was also very skilled in it too.

It was all thanks to her mother’s effort to train her when she was young. Mindy Harrison thought that, like

other girls, Miranda deserved to learn dancing, drawing, music, and etiquette.

She raised Miranda to be a well–mannered, multitalented person. She didn’t expect her daughter to be even more gifted in studying.

Back then, Miranda signed up for all the Olympiads, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and

Mathematics. From the preliminary rounds, she made her way into the state and national levels.

Then, she was chosen to join the summer and winter camps, international level.

That year, she amazed everyone in her school and the entire country.

Numerous top–tier institutions offered her a secured spot without requiring her to take the exams. Some promised she could further her studies abroad with government sponsorships.

However, Miranda rejected all the offers and insisted on taking her high school exams. In the end, she was the top scorer for science subjects in her city. With her exceptional results, she gained admission to Bedford College.

“What’s on your mind?” Sam’s voice was right beside her ear.

Miranda snapped out of her reverie. “Just the old days.

“Your college days?” Sam’s eyes dimmed. There was someone from those memories whom he was most reluctant to bring up right then.

“No.Miranda shook her head.

Sam suddenly chuckled, his deep, vibrating voice coming from the depths of his throat. With a twist of his foot and a quick flick of his arms, he twirled Miranda around swiftly.

Screams rang out again.

Although he led the dance and Miranda could only follow, his pace and movements were modest, as though he considered her abilities while dancing.

He also behaved like a gentleman by placing his hand gently on her waist. He showed no intentions of making advances or being too assertive.

“You’re gorgeous today. The fox mask suits you.” He sounded joyful.

Miranda arched an eyebrow at him. Are you coinciden
