Chapter 40 Uncle, Watch me Dance to the Little Swan Song

Ruby was striding forward with her short legs while practising to smile, but all of a sudden, she

suddenly felt herself stepping on nothing.

She anxiously turned around and saw an extremely handsome face.

Ruby froze for a second. She blinked her huge eyes and smiled at Edward.

Scott also froze on the side as his eyes were glued to this scene. He couldn’t believe that Edward was

holding a child for more than one minute, and he didn’t look like he was putting her down any minute.

Scott thought that he was seeing things…

Besides, for some reason, he strangely felt that this scene of Edward hugging this child look very

harmonic.

While the two of them were still looking into each other’s eyes, Scott circled around to the girl’s side

and asked with a giggle, “Little kid, what’s your name?”

“My name is Ruby White.”

Ruby answered and she didn’t look like she wanted to get off Edward just yet.

“Ruby White? Your family name is White…”

Scott ran his hand over his chin while examining Edward, “Is this child… your illegitimate child with your

wife? Don’t you think that she resembles Mrs. Ford?”

Edward frowned at shot a glance at Scott before finally putting Ruby back on the ground.

He looked closely Ruby who had tied her hair up into a ball shape probably because she was going to

dance to the Little Swan song. Her pale little face had a pair of sparkling huge eyes. Her face matched

her dress very well, which made her look very adorable.

“Where is your mother?”

This child was very good-looking, and although she was at an age when she could use the washroom

by herself, her mother was still very irresponsible. If such a tender child appeared at the male’s

washroom, no one could imagine the repercussions.

“Mummy… Mummy is coming only later.”

Ruby blinked while answering Edward seriously.

She suddenly clutched her stomach, “Pee… I want to pee. Uncle, can you wait for me first? I need to

pee, I…”

Ruby wanted to continue the conversation with Edward, but she looked like she was holding in her urge

to urinate.

If this was the past, Edward would definitely refuse to wait. He didn’t have any patience at all for

children, and this was precisely the reason she didn’t let Susan bear a child for him.

He was born in a complicated family, and while growing up, he never felt any joy as a child. He self-

assumed that he wouldn’t be able to give his child a happy childhood, seeing that he never had one.

“Alright, just go. We will wait you here!”

Scott couldn’t see through Edward’s mind since he wasn’t saying anything in response.

At the same time, the little girl was clinging to Edward’s pants and waiting for his response. Scott

couldn’t bear to see this any longer, so he answered on behalf of his brother.

“Okay!”

Ruby finally got an affirmation from Edward, so she immediately dashed off in the direction of the

washroom. This time, she didn’t enter the wrong one.

Susan was still at the entrance and she was glancing at the watch from time to time.

This hall was much bigger than she expected. Besides Ruby’s event, there was another performance-

oriented event going on. The hall was stuffed with a huge crowd.

Susan had to use fifteen minutes to navigate through the crowd while the actual distance should only

take roughly five minutes to reach the washroom.

However, while she was moving in the direction of the washroom, she noticed that Ruby didn’t

reappear for some reason! She didn’t see Ruby coming out from the washroom…

Susan was a little worried. Her mind told her that was there something wrong?

Susan barged into the washroom without thinking, and the moment she entered the washroom, she

heard a familiar voice, “Hey, Mrs. Ford. You’re here!”

Susan turned around to search for the source of the familiar voice and saw Scott smiling at her. He

said, “What a coincidence, Mrs. Ford.”

Susan felt her heart skip a beat when she laid eyes on Edward on the side. She bit her lips and replied, This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

“That’s right, it is a coincidence. I wanted to buy some books at the book shop opposite here, but I

need to use the washroom too. That’s why I am here.”

There was a depthless look in Edward’s eyes, which rendered her efforts to see through him futile.

On the other hand, Scott was staring at her in such a strange way that he was giving her the creeps.

“Erm… Please excuse me, I need to use the washroom.”

Susan stated her intention before hurrying into the washroom.

Her wink was the signal only Susan and Ruby knew. When Ruby saw her winking and raising a finger

to her lips, it was a signal to the start of their game.

Long ago, Susan feared the day Ruby’s true identity would be revealed, and she would not be able to

do anything about it. There would be grave repercussions if that were to happen, since Edward was an

extremely smart person.

Therefore, she had come up with a game.

The name of this game was called “Little Actor.”

Once the game started, Ruby could no longer call Susan her mother. She had to pretend that she was

not Susan’s daughter.

Although it was such a childish game, Ruby always felt very jubilant whenever she got a chance to play

this game with Susan.

Ruby flashed a smile while nodding. She didn’t say anything as she exited the washroom straight.

When she was finally out, she looked around as if searching for something before settling her gaze on

Edward. Her eyes lit up instantly as she hugged his thigh hard.

“Uncle, I am going to perform ‘The Little Swan’, do you want to see me?”

Edward frowned at the child.

“Your uncle don’t like to watch children dance.”

Edward purposely teased Ruby. He was not wrong, though, since he had stated earlier that he didn’t

want to be the judge in the first place.

As a result, Ruby shot a glance at Edward before slowly tearing up.

However, she was seemingly suppressing her tears, as if she didn’t want anyone to see her crying.

Her demeanour right now was simply too lovable.

Edward bent over and said to Ruby, “If you don’t cry, I will watch you later.”

Since he was forced to be present here by Scott, it wouldn’t do him any harm to stay a little longer to

watch “The Little Swan” by her.

Almost immediately, Ruby broke into a wide grin. She stepped forward and planted a kiss on Edward’s

cheeks.

Edward was still bent over and he didn’t expect this at all.

Scott stood beside them and watched this sight in earnest. He couldn’t help but smile.

At the same time, Susan who was in the washroom was feeling very anxious.
