Chapter 31 Isobel, It Seemed That I Have Underestimated You

‘Ordinary Friends', that was the reason that had caused a wave of discomfort for Isobel Lewis after she

said that. However, she did not think it was a problem as she was not involved in the social circle.

The only thing that had affected her was the interview she had a week ago. She thought that she was

doing well during the interview. Yet, she still had not received any confirmation after she was asked to

wait for the results.

Isobel knew that Hamish Francis was the only person in City N who could make it difficult for her to

make any move.

Martha Sutton was probably involved, to add fuel to the flame.

After Isobel had realized this, she stopped going to the interview.

She had quite a lot of money in her hands now. If she did not spend extravagantly, she could rest

Knight.”

Leon Knight nodded, “Sure.”

Leon was very polite as if he was really inviting her to the Francis family for a visit only.

This wasn’t the first time that Gabriel had asked to meet her. Gabriel had asked Leon to ‘invite’ her to

the Francis family a long time ago when she was just in a relationship with Hamish.

That was her first visit to the Francis family. At that moment, she felt like a fish out of water, after

standing for the first time.

That time Gabriel didn’t say a lot of things. He only asked about her situation. Upon knowing that her

father was paralyzed in bed, Gabriel was actually kind enough to introduce her to a specialist to do a

check-up.

After he knew that she was still studying in university, Gabriel even asked about her future plans. He

also asked whether she wanted to study over-broad. If she had this thought, he could talk to the

chancellor of the university.

Gabriel gave her a gift of calligraphy before she left. Gabriel was also a calligrapher. He seldom wrote

Hamish didn’t know they had met. However, after this, she started to realize the distance between her

and Hamish.

Isobel changed into a simple knit long dress and a short jacket. Then, she went out.

“Ms. Lewis is really getting prettier and prettier.”

“Please come in.”

drink tea.” After saying that, Gabriel looked at Leon, “Leon, prepare a cup of red date tea for Ms.

Lewis.”

Isobel took her hand back and looked at Gabriel, “old master, you are too courteous.”

She showed a dull expression. It seemed like she had grown a lot compared to three years ago.

Gabriel looked at Isobel and smiled, “You should have heard about Hamish and Ms. Sutton’s matter,

right?”

about that.”

“Good girl.”

Gabriel nodded, “Hamish has acted on impulse. Marriage is a big matter and he thinks he can play

around. I had advised him to consider it again when he engaged to Ms. Sutton. I didn’t expect he broke

the engagement only after half of a month, what nonsense!”

When Gabriel said this, he showed a serious face and his words were filled with rage. It seemed like he

was enraged by Hamish’s actions.

However, Isobel knew that he was only acting in front of her.

She was no longer the Isobel from three years ago. She wasn’t easily deceived by him.

Isobel smiled, “old master is right. Our separation is the result that we had considered carefully before.

Hamish had considered this more carefully than me.”

She didn’t want to let him drag on the conversation, so she directly talked about the main topic for this

meeting today.

Gabriel was shocked and he showed a regret look, “You are a good girl. Hamish was too

unreasonable! I only knew recently that you are actually pregnant. If you had told me earlier, I wouldn’t

let Hamish play around like this.”

Isobel was still smiling, “It’s all over now.”

"Ms. Lewis is able to see through the issue with open-mindedness. You have a wiser outlook than

someone as old as me."

At this moment, Leon brought in a cup of red date tea. Isobel reached out and accepted it. She lowered

her head and drank the tea after saying thank you. She didn’t answer Gabriel’s words.

“Hamish has acted too reckless, so I am using my own way of doing things. I hope Ms. Lewis won’t

mind me.”

Isobel raised her head and looked at him, “What does the old master mean?”

After she said this, Hamish walked into the room, “Grandpa, did you want to meet me?”

Hamish didn’t reply. Gabriel apologized to Isobel and smiled, “Ms. Lewis, the reason I invited you here

today is to ask whether is it possible to reconsider the relationship between you and Hamish? You have

been together for three years. When Hamish wanted to engage Ms. Sutton, I had disagreed with it.

Now he has broken the engagement, you can actually…”

Isobel heard Hamish’s voice beside her when she was about to talk, “I didn’t actually know that it is that

easy to be a part of the Francis family.”
