Chapter 65 The Secret Beauty
“She’s not my wife,” Elijah frowned and said, “Take care of her, and I’ll double your pay.”
The two caregivers were more willing to stay now. Then, Eva’s scream came from the bathroom.
“Elijah, come in and keep me company. I’m scared.”
Cordelia abruptly stood up, grabbed her medical kit, and said, “Remember to get her out half an hour
later. I’m leaving.”
Elijah, sensing her anger, quickly followed her. “Cordelia, wait.”
He caught up with her and tightly held her hand, interlocking their fingers.
“Don’t you think Eva might be doing this on purpose?” Apparently, Eva was deliberately annoying her.
Elijah replied calmly, “She has suffered from mobility issues for years and has severe psychological
problems. Don’t be too hard on her.”
It seemed that Elijah also knew that Eva was a psychopath, but he still cherished her a lot.
Cordelia sneered secretly, “I’m just so soft-hearted that I can be manipulated by you like this.”
Elijah pulled her into his arms and coaxed her, “I’ll make it up to you for all the grievances you’ve
suffered during the treatment, okay?”
Cordelia’s tone was indifferent. “So, are you trying to compensate me with money?” She didn’t want his
compensation at all.
“You’ll find out later.”
Cordelia had her doubts about what he was up to.
“Come on. Let’s go home.”
Elijah let go of her and held her hand tightly.
On the day of Jacob’s grandmother’s eightieth birthday, Eva’s treatment had just finished one course,
and she was in the interval period.
During this time, Elijah diligently drove Cordelia to treat Eva every day, without any exception.
Cordelia silently observed how dedicated he was to Eva during this period.
Finally, she could escape Eva’s antics, and her mood had improved these past few days.
The grand family banquet at the Taylor Manor was scheduled
for the evening. In the afternoon, Jacob personally came to pick Cordelia up to try out the instrument at
his house.
“Grandma told me that this violin has also been played by your grandmother. It’s a cherished
instrument with a rich history,” Jacob informed her.
Cordelia nodded and sat quietly, talking very little.
After arriving at the Taylor Manor with Jacob, they went directly to the music room.
“Why don’t you try it? See if it feels comfortable to play,” Jacob suggested.
Cordelia’s fingertips touched the violin. She fell in love with it instantly, and in her mind, she could
already see her grandmother playing it when she was young.
With a slight smile, she plucked the strings. The sound was crisp and melodious, with lingering
echoes.
Afterward, Jacob left the music room, and Cordelia practiced the pieces a few times. He then took her
to a lounge.
“Cordelia, guests have started arriving. Get ready. I’ll come to escort you to meet Grandma later,”
Jacob instructed.
Cordelia changed into an elegant dress, covering her face with a white veil. She looked like an ethereal
fairy.
When she appeared before the Taylor family, she immediately
caught everyone’s attention.
“Grandma, this is the gift I’ve prepared for you. I hope you like it,” Jacob said confidently.
At first, Jacob’s grandmother, Mireya Taylor smiled, but when she saw Cordelia sitting next to her once
favorite violin, her eyes started to turn red.
As the first note played, the entire hall fell into silence, with only the unfamiliar and graceful melody
echoing. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
In a corner, Lamia, who had sneaked into the Taylor Manor, peeked her head around, squinting at the
performer. “Hey, isn’t this the new popular internet celebrity from the recent video site? What’s the
connection between Jacob and her?”
A junior of the Taylor family standing nearby remarked, “What kind of connection could it be? In my
opinion, my cousin must be her sponsor, or else, how could she have become so famous recently?”
Lamia scrutinized the performer’s facial features more closely. “Why do I feel like I’ve seen her
somewhere before?”
As Cordelia finished the piece, she was slightly emotional.
She paused and took a deep breath before standing up to acknowledge the applause. Just as she was
about to take her leave, someone suddenly dashed towards her, grabbing her
wrist.
“Cordelia? Is it really you?”
