My precious daughter
At the Steels logistics and transport company, Diana walked into the office with elegance and authority. Being both beautiful and successful, most of the employees admired her. Supporting her as she worked hand in hand with her father to run the business. Though her father was the boss and owner of the company, she worked hard, handling all the shipments, and supervising everything personally.
“Dad!” When she got to the office, she hugged Mr Steven who was not surprised by her childish stunt.
Though Diana was all grown up, he always treated her like a child. Spoiling her more than he did her younger sister who was never interested in the transport business. Always at loggerhead’s with her father and her elder sister, choosing her books since joining the university studying journalism.
“How did the meeting with Melissa go?” Mr Steven inquired taking a seat on the coach.
“It went well dad, we met as planned.” Diana spoke leaning on the desk.
“Did you find out why she asked to meet at the sports club?”
“No, despite spending the whole afternoon together, I didn’t get anything from her. Though she looked tense and distracted at times, surprisingly she didn’t ask about the company or meet with anyone in particular.” Diana paused thinking of all possible plans Melissa may harbour but nothing came to mind. “Maybe she just wanted to get close to me for old time sake.” Raising her shoulders, she spoke pouring herself a glass of water.
“Why would she want to get close to you?” Mr Steven asked thoughtfully.
“No idea dad, you shouldn’t worry about her so much anyway. I also met the man who’s hosting her. He’s a low life chauffer. I don’t think he can harm us in anyway. Better yet, I have a way to get Melissa out of town for good.”
“How? What.. what are you planning to do to her?”
“Not her dad. Her time has not come yet.” She smiled gulping all the water.
“What do you mean?”
“All you need to know is, I have my men watching her aunt back in the province and I got information that she has a son, and I’ve sent my men to get him.”
“Huh… that’s good. What do you plan to do with the boy? We can’t let her get in the way, not after all these years.” Mr Steven smiled, proud of his daughter.
“You also have to find out if she may have any contact with her father’s former secretary. Though we confiscated all the documents she had, I’m sure she knows about my involvement with the organization. If she tries to meet her, you know what to do.”
“Yes dad I have that under control. I actually plan to sell the boy abroad. Losing her son will break her, sending her back to the province just like what happened to her aunt back then. I’m sure she wouldn’t want to stay for a second in the city.”This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
“Good, but be careful. Whatever you do, don’t leave any evidence that can incriminate us. She doesn’t suspect us now so keep it that way.”
“Okay dad, but even if she finds out, she has no money to go against us.”
“What of our next shipment, is it ready?” He asked changing the subject to more pressing issues.
“Yes, it will take off in three days and hopefully Melissa’s little brat will be here by then. Dad, I’m going home to see what mother and my dearest little sister are up to, just came to give you the update.” She spoke picking her bag from the office chair. “Mum will be happy to know that Melissa is in town. Being her favourite goddaughter, I guess she would love to have her home for dinner. Maybe we can invite her someday.”
“Yes, that’s a good idea, invite Melissa over one of these nights and try to get your friendship back, in case your little plan does not work out. That way we can keep her close in case she suspects us.”
“Okay Dad I will. That is if she won’t have left already coz my plans never fail. Bye dad.” Hugging him, She left the building got in her car and drove off.
Diana and Melissa’s mother were great of friends. They practically grew up together and always encouraged their daughter’s to get along and have a bond like theirs. When Diana’s father lost his job as an accountant in the national bank, Mr White offered him a partnership at his company after his wife pleaded with him to help her friend.
He worked for the company for years, and though he was brought in as a partner, Mr White treated him as one of the employees making himself the sole owner and decision maker.
Being the daughter of a mere employee, Diana always felt inferior to Melissa. Her family was wealthy and she was best at everything, from sports to academic in school. Beautiful and intelligent even Diana’s boyfriends fell for her whenever she introduced them, but Melissa would always act innocent while she enjoyed all the attention.
Since Mr White planned to leave the company to his one and only precious daughter once they graduated from university, that night Diana’s plan was to sell her to an old man for the night to ruin her reputation but she managed to get out of the room before the man got there. Now though the tables had turned and Diana had all the money and wealth, she still hated Melissa, and would do whatever it took to end her pride once and for all.
