At 3:00 pm, Lorraine and Logan headed home in the pickup truck. They changed their clothes and hopped into another car to go pick the twins up.

Logan wanted to drive, but Lorraine moved too quickly for him. When he walked out of the house, she had already gotten into the car and gotten it out of the garage. She was waiting for him to get in.

“How much does the kids‘ kindergarten charge?” she asked.

After a brief silence, Logan said, “It’s pretty costly because they attend Glendale’s best kindergarten. It might be a bit expensive, but they’re the best in every aspect. They don’t take in too many children. per year, so it’s hard to get in. I had to pull many connections to get them in.

“They might be adopted, but I still have to raise them well now that they’re mine. I’d rather make things harder for myself than make them. suffer in any way.”

Lorraine hummed in acknowledgment, then asked, “How much does it cost per semester?”

Logan fell silent again. Then, he said in a small voice, “About 5,000 dollars a month.”

Lorraine slammed the brakes, making the car screech to a stop. She turned to look at him in disbelief. “About 5,000 dollars per month? Each? Doesn’t that mean you have to pay ten grand a month for both. of them? Do you even earn that much?”

She knew it wasn’t cheap to go to kindergarten nowadays. There were two kindergartens in town which charged around a thousand dollars per semester, but that was for each semester. Finnegan and Luna’s kindergarten charged 5,000 dollars per person, per month.

“I had quite a bit of money saved up before adopting them. My family hasn’t asked me for money since I started working, and I don’t really need to spend on anything. Before adopting Finnegan and Luna, his life basically revolved around work, attending meetings, and going to business dinners. He never had the time to go shopping or anything like that. And so, he never spent much. Even if he needed to buy anything, his secretary would do it for him.

“Didn’t you say you’re renting a place? Why didn’t you buy a house if you had so much money saved up? At least the children would have a permanent home,” Lorraine said.

“It’s more convenient to rent. I can just rent a place close to wherever the kids study,” Logan said.

Lorraine couldn’t refute him. This was one of the bad things of a shotgun marriage–they didn’t know each other at all. She wouldn’t know if Logan was lying to her.

“If you don’t like it, I can transfer them elsewhere,” Logan added.

“I’m fine with it as long as you have enough to get them through kindergarten. It’s what you want to do for them as a father. You just want to give them the best.” She was also willing to give the children. the best as long as it was within her means.

Logan’s money was enough to raise his and Lorraine’s own children, let alone just the twins.

Lorraine started driving again. “As you said, we’re married now, which means we should face all problems together. The kids think of me as their mother, so I have to bear responsibility for them.

“I won’t fight you for the right to pay their kindergarten fees. Instead, I’ll handle all other daily expenses.”
