While the rest of Lorraine’s family still did not know what had happened just yet, Logan already knew about it.
He brought Finnegan and Luna with him to knock on the door to Lorraine’s study. Lorraine opened the door, and the two young children greeted her warmly, “Mom!”
She reached out her hand to touch both their cheeks.
Lorraine became the stepmother to both Finnegan and Luna the moment she married Logan, and she would bear the responsibility to look after the children together. Their small family was going through a rough time.
But as she stared at Finnegan’s and Luna’s innocent expressions, Lorraine composed herself and steeled her resolve once more. She reassured herself that this was not yet the end.

She picked up Luna and kissed her on the cheeks. “Why don’t you go play with Josh?”
Luna replied, “Josh went shopping with Aunt Vanessa. We didn’t go with them since Aunt Vanessa’s electric scooter couldn’t fit all of us.”
She then continued with a question of her own, “What’s wrong, Mom? Why are you locking yourself inside this room?”
Lorraine replied, “I’m fine.”
Luna stared at Lorraine with her big, black eyes full of innocence as she said in a sweet voice, “Mom, you must tell us if you’re feeling down! We’ll stay with you and help comfort you! We can also bring you out to play and cheer up!”
Finnegan added, “We can even go out and eat delicious food! Aunt Jenny always said that if you’re in a bad mood, you should buy whatever you want and eat whatever you like! And then you’ll be much happier!”
Smiling, Lorraine replied, “I’m fine, really. I’m really happy that both of you are so worried about me. I feel invincible now, like I can take on anything!”
She then turned to Logan and continued, “Is that why you said that Jenny has bought a lot of dresses?”
It was not surprising that Jenny’s wardrobe was filled to the brim if she were to go on retail therapy every time she was in a bad mood.

She did not have as much money as Jenny, after all.
Logan took Finnegan’s hand as he followed Lorraine back to her desk in the study. “Everyone has their own way of dealing with a bad mood. You don’t need to copy Jenny or anything.”
Lorraine’s study was not big by any means. It was around 130 square feet, with a large bookshelf at the side filled with all kinds of books.
A single desk with a chair, as well as a couch, had taken up most of the space within the study.
The room was not big, but it was rather clean and tidy, which enveloped everyone in the study in a comfortable mood.
