Ultimate Evolution I Became the Master of the World

Chapter 39 The Few Available Methods

"The gist of it, you guys already know. Sophia's condition is only gonna get worse. I think you should consider having another kid," Michael said. The car pulled up in a busy part of the city.

They got out and found a bench nearby to sit and talk about what had just gone down.

"How can you even say that?" Seraphina snapped. "Isn't there a way to get rid of that mark?"

"Both choices end the same. Removing the mark and putting a new one just buys a little time," Michael replied. "I know it sounds harsh, but it's the truth. Declan, what do you think?" Declan frowned, lighting a cigarette. He felt lost, frustrated, and worried.

He got what Michael was saying.

If they didn't remove the mark, the Ghost Baby would keep haunting Sophia. Removing it meant putting another one, which only delayed the inevitable.

"Dad, Mom, it's okay. I'm doomed. Let me deal with the Ghost Baby alone. I don't want to drag you guys down," Sophia said, tears streaming down her face.

Knowing the outcome, she wasn't as scared anymore.

Seraphina, heartbroken, cried uncontrollably. They two hugged each other, sobbing in front of passersby.

"No way, I can't watch my daughter get tortured to death by that thing," Declan said, tossing his cigarette and standing up with determination. "Michael, if I agree to put another mark on Sophia, can you help?" Michael said, "There's a way, but it won't be much better. It'll just delay her death."

"If we don't remove the mark, Sophia won't last three days, right?" Declan asked.

Michael said, "No, she won't even make it a day. The Ghost Baby hasn't attacked because the mark on her hand is still there. But now that it's gone, the Ghost Baby will come for her within an hour, maybe even sooner." "What if we remove the mark?" Declan asked.

Michael said, "She'll live as long as the Ghost Handler is alive. She might have a few months, but the end result is the same. And I can't promise there won't be other side effects."

"Even if it's poison, we have to accept it now. We can't give up even the slightest chance," Declan said through gritted teeth. "Michael, I need your help. I'll pay you, name your price."

Michael looked at Sophia and Seraphina, who were crying together, and said, "This isn't a supernatural event or a ghost fight, so there's no risk. Since you were so straightforward before, I'll do this for free. But I can't guarantee what'll happen to Sophia afterward."

"Thank you, that's enough. I'll take responsibility for all the consequences. Even if something happens to Sophia, I won't blame you," Declan said, taking a deep breath.

This kind of decisiveness and courage was rare, unlike Seraphina's pettiness.

"In that case, let's start now. The Ghost Baby is probably already on its way," Michael said.

"Come here, Sophia," Declan said.

Sophia lifted her head, her eyes red and swollen from crying, looking at Declan and Michael.

"Sophia, if you're ready, give me your hand," Michael said.novelbin

"Go ahead, just focus on this now. Let's get through this first," Declan said, still worried. He didn't know if today's decision would save or harm his daughter. "Thank you, Michael," Sophia said, biting her lip and extending her hand.

She didn't want to die, especially not because of something so freaky.

"Never mind. We're classmates, and besides, I'm getting paid," Michael said, grabbing her wrist like he used to in school.

"Take off the bandage on your neck. I need to see the mark."

Seraphina stayed quiet, carefully unwrapping the bandage.

The skin on Sophia's delicate neck was cracked and red, with some medicine smeared on it. But right in the middle of the wound, two dark blue handprints stood out.

Michael's eyes flickered. He remembered what he had to do, grabbed Sophia's palm, and an eye appeared.

The eye gave off a faint red light, which seeped through his fingers and started to invade Sophia's wrist.

Same spot as before.

As the red light sank in, Michael saw the dark blue handprints on her neck slowly fade and start to disappear.

"It's working," Declan said, eyes wide, watching the miracle unfold.

Michael felt the presence of the demon's eye in Sophia's body, like an eye had transferred to her, but it wasn't quite the same. It was more like a piece of the ghost's power had stuck with Sophia.

A few moments later, the dark blue handprints on Sophia's neck were completely gone.

Seeing this, Michael finally let go of her hand.

He saw a clear ghostly eye mark on Sophia's wrist, like a red-eyed tattoo, very noticeable, faintly glowing red.

"It's gone, really gone. The handprints have disappeared," Declan and Seraphina said, a bit excited. "Sophia, how do you feel now? Are you okay?"

Sophia checked herself and said, "It seems fine. I feel good. It's a bit weird, but I can't describe it. Overall, much better than before." She glanced deeply at Michael.

Michael's eyes were different from usual, but she couldn't figure out how.

"That's great," Seraphina said, hugging her excitedly.

Michael also felt his body change.

Nothing major, just a bit weak.

'Only those who can control Ghost Realms are qualified to have Ghost Slaves. But I don't know how a living person's Ghost Slave differs from a ghost's. Sophia won't be like a normal person, but the changes will have to be observed later,' Michael thought.

While he was removing the mark, not far away, on a nearby street, a dark blue child was running at an eerie speed, heading quickly towards Sophia.

"Did you see a strange kid run by?" someone on the street asked in surprise.

A companion said, "No, you must be seeing things."

But before the Ghost Baby could run far, it suddenly stopped.

The mark had disappeared, and it lost its clear target.

Without a primary target, it would randomly choose a passerby on this street and start killing indiscriminately.

"Damn, what did I bump into?" someone said, surprised.

At that moment, a young man passing by, distracted by his phone, almost tripped over the Ghost Baby.

But when he looked back, he saw nothing.

However, when he turned back to continue walking, he was stunned.

A naked, dark blue child stood in front of him, head tilted, eyes looking at him with a strange expression.

The young man gave the Ghost Baby a weird look, thinking the kid seemed off, maybe homeless or mentally unstable. He didn't want to get involved and kept his distance.

But he hadn't gone far when the Ghost Baby moved.

It turned around, no longer heading towards Sophia, but following the young man.

The horror continued, just with a different person.
