I want to end our relationship
Letta continued to stare at the vibrating screen with Abian’s name displayed on it. After gathering her thoughts, Letta decided that she didn’t want to hurt Abian any further. She realized that Abian was a good man who deserved a better woman than herself. Therefore, Letta tried to answer Abian’s call.
“Hello,” Letta greeted.
“Hello, where have you been since yesterday? I’ve been trying to reach you, but your phone was unreachable. You also didn’t respond to my messages. Are you sick?” Abian asked with a concerned tone, making Letta feel the worry expressed by Abian.
“Or are you busy with work? Say something, at least let me know where you are now. I tried knocking on your apartment door, but you weren’t there, were you?” Abian said, causing Letta’s tears to start falling, imagining Abian’s anxiety while searching for her.
“I’m sorry,” Letta whispered, making Abian fall silent on the other end.
“Forgive me,” Letta sobbed as she uttered those words.
“What’s actually going on? Are you really sick? Tell me where you are, I’ll come there right away,” Abian said, but Letta shook her head. She didn’t want to reveal all her faults directly, nor did she want Abian to see her sad face.
“I’m sorry, please forgive me, Abian,” Letta said while sobbing.
“Stop this nonsense, Letta. Tell me where you are, I’ll meet you now,” Abian said, but Letta couldn’t hold back her tears and hung up the phone. Letta then hugged her knees, feeling a tightness in her chest. She could only pour out all her tears and guilt to herself, which she might never be able to repay.
Letta didn’t know how long she would cry over her own foolishness. When the nurse opened the door to her treatment room, Letta was surprised to see Abian behind the nurse.
“Miss Letta, how’s your condition? Oh, by chance, your friend wanted to visit, so I brought him to see you,” the nurse said, leaving Letta silent. The nurse then approached Letta, while Abian remained standing at the doorway.
“I’ll just check your body temperature and your stomach. After that, you can rest again,” the nurse said as she helped Letta lie back down.
“The nurse said, ‘Your body temperature is normal, your blood pressure is also normal, you just need some rest,'” she said with her friendly smile. However, Letta didn’t pay attention to the nurse’s words; she was fixated on Abian, who was also continuously watching her. After the nurse left, Abian finally entered the room and sat on the chair next to Letta’s bed.
“What’s really going on? Why were you hospitalized without even telling me anything? I didn’t even know where you were. Did I cause all of this?” Abian asked, causing Letta to lower her face. His eyes were full of warmth and concern as he looked at Letta.
“How did you find me?” Letta asked.
“I asked my friend to track your whereabouts. I was shocked when he said you were in the hospital. At that moment, I was certain that you weren’t doing well,” Abian said, gently caressing Letta’s face.
“What are you hiding? You’ve changed since I arrived. Don’t you want my presence?” Abian asked. Letta shook her head, as Abian’s arrival was something she had been eagerly anticipating. Their relationship was always hindered by distance, making Letta always yearn for moments together.
“Then what?” Abian asked.
“I want to end our relationship,” Letta said to the point, leaving Abian silent.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
“Are you really sick?” Abian asked, trying to think positively.
“It’s better for you to rest now. I’ll stay with you. It seems like your work is too demanding and draining your energy and mind,” Abian said, helping Letta to lie back down, but Letta just shook her head.
“I’m serious, I’m serious about everything I’ve said. I don’t want to keep hurting you constantly. You might end up hating me, but this is the only way. I want you to live happily, Abian,” Letta said, leaving Abian even more confused by her words.
“Actually, I want you to tell me what really happened. Is all of this really because of me?” Abian asked. Since his arrival, Abian felt that something was different about Letta. She seemed closed off, her bright smile was no longer visible, and there were some behavioral changes that made Abian worried. Could this be because of their ongoing long-distance relationship, Abian wondered.
“Abian, it’s not because you can’t always be close to me. Our jobs do demand distance, but I’m not worried. You’ve always been there for me, and that’s enough for me,” Letta replied. However, Abian continued to tightly hold her hand.
“Then why? Why are you suddenly saying something like this? I apologize for my job, but I promise after this photo shoot, I’ll stay here. I don’t want to leave you far away anymore, and we’ll continue our relationship to a more serious level,” Abian said with an enthusiastic smile. However, this only made Letta feel more pressured, her chest tightening. How could Letta possibly shatter that smile from Abian’s face, Letta wondered.
