Chapter 23

"Take care of yourself."

"Ok, ok. I will." I say and hug Leah for the fifth time this morning. We head towards the door, Nick

coming behind us with their luggage. I decided not to tell them about me moving in with Ethan because

I know they would make a big deal out of it. Before they return, I will come back here so nobody will

know.

"I will miss you."

"Me too." Leah says sadly as she gives me a kiss on my cheek.

"Girls, you are acting like you will never meet again." Nick rolls his eyes at us.

"Shut up, you baboon!" I scold him playfully and wrap my arms around him in a fondling hug. He puts

his face on my shoulder, hugging back.

"I will miss you too. Come back soon." I mutter.

"We will. Take care baby." He says with a content sigh as he pulls back and kisses my forehead.

He walks to Leah and holds her hand while I watch them with a smile. How good it feels when two

lovers get together after years of waiting and you are the one playing Cupid? I'm quite proud.

"Bye guys."

"Bye." They say in union as they get out. I watch them get into the elevator and they wave at me.

After they are out of sight, I close the door and plop myself down on the couch. Taking my phone from

the table, I watch the time. I should start packing my stuff now. Ethan will be here soon.

I know it sounds weird to move in with someone whom you know for barely two months. But there are

many reasons I agreed to do this. It wasn't just for the kiss. Though I didn't want him to kiss me either.

After all, it's my first kiss!

Then there are a lot of things I need to sort out with him and for that we need time. It would be better if

we can stay under the same roof because other than that, we are always busy outside. I need to know

where we are standing now. It's clear after all of this, we are not friends anymore. Then what? I need

him to tell me what we are because I really don't know.

And besides everything, I know I will be safe with him. If it was anyone else asking me to stay with

them, never in a million years I would have agreed. But it's him. He will never do anything to hurt me. I

believe it.

Now the question is how do I trust him this much when I know him for such a short time?

But sometimes you don't need to know a person's everything to know the person himself. You know

how he looks at you? With love, affection, passion? You know what he is thinking when you look into

his eyes? Maybe he doesn't say that he cares about you but with his every deed, he shows and makes

you feel he does care? You think you don't know him for the fullest but with your heart, you feel like you

know him forever? Yes, that's when you really know the person even if you think you don't.

And in this spell of two months, I have seen him in different ways, under different circumstances that

now I feel like somehow I know him more than I know myself.

Though it's strange, it's true.

Getting up, I head to my room and bring out my luggage. I fill it with my clothes and other stuff. After

thirty minutes, I was done with packing. I take a quick shower and change into a simple black and red

sweatshirt and blue dark washed denim jeans. I quickly dry my hair and pull it into a high ponytail.

That's when the doorbell rings.

I put on a hairpin and run towards the door. I open it revealing Ethan in a grey hoodie and full messy

hair with black skinny jeans that just gave the whole outfit a perfect touch.

He takes a quick look at my appearance and then smiles.Though he hardly smiles but he really looks

so sweet when he does it. But I am not complaining. Smiles, smirks or frowns whatever, he always

looks the same. Perfect.

"Hey." He greets and gets inside before placing a soft kiss on my forehead. He is kissing me more

often these days, what's wrong? And that's too without any hesitation? Oh what am I saying? When did

he kiss me taking my permission? Haha.

He throws himself down on the sofa and puts his both hands on the back of it making him comfortable

there and then turns to me.

"So you ready?" He asks me with a smug look on his face.

"Yeah."

"Aren't you excited? To go to a new place?"

"Not at all. You are forcing me." I say, rolling my eyes though that's not the truth.

He chuckles, "Oh don't say that. You know you want it too. And even if you don't, I won't apologize." He

replies, placing his hands behind his head and puts his legs on the table in front of him.

What a bad habit!

I walk to him and push his legs down with a huff.

"Yes because you are a badass."

"You like this badass, don't you?" He says, smirking.

"Not even a bit." I scoff, hiding the smile.

"Liar."

I look at him to see the slight disappointment in his eyes but he quickly regains himself and brings his

smug face back.

"If you're ready, let's go then."

"Yeah." I say and get inside my room, bringing the luggage outside. He stands up and takes it from me.

We walk out of the apartment and I lock the door behind.

We head towards the parking lot and my eyes fall on a red mustang standing out proudly in the crowd.

He puts my luggage inside and opens the door for me. I raise my eyebrows mockingly causing him to

chuckle.

"What? I'm a gentleman." He smirks.

"Oh sure, you are." I shake my head amusingly and hop on the car.

He is being extra honey today. Not a problem though. I like this carefree side of him. I just wonder is he

like this just in front of me? If yes, then why? Now that I will be spending more time with him, I will get

to know him much better and I want to.

Let's see how everything goes now.

He pulls the car outside of the huge skyscraper and we get out. I look around a bit and then we walk

into the elevator. After it stops, we walk out and he opens the door. As soon as I get inside, something

flies towards me and I close my eyes immediately covering my face with my hand to stop whatever it is

from colliding with my face.

A crushing sound can be heard and I open my eyes to see a remote control lying on the floor in a

He is jumping and screaming in front of the TV where a soccer match is going on.

"What happened?" Ethan asks in a concerned voice as he gets inside quickly and sees the mess.

"What the hell, Matt?" Ethan shouts while shaking his head disappointingly.

Matt looks back and his mouth forms a full 'o' shape seeing me there.

"OMG! Evie? What are you doing here?" He asks, totally shocked.

"Before that, you tell me what is this?" Ethan points at the mess.

Matt looks down and his eyes widen. He mutters 'oops' and looks at us apologetically.

"Sorry. Actually my team won and I was too happy and it was near me and I just threw it away because

I couldn't understand what to do. Hehe." He smiles a guilty smile as he scratches his back,

embarrassed.

What? Never heard of anyone throwing the remote itself as a celebration!

Such crazy!

I burst out laughing and Ethan just smiles.

"Hey! Don't laugh. I am not crazy." Matt says, frowning.

"Of course." I reply.

"By the way, what are you doing here?" He asks me as his eyes fall on my luggage.

"I...uhm..."

"You go. I'm coming." Ethan cuts me off and points at a room.

I nod and get inside, leaving them behind.

Ethan's POV

I watch her as she gets inside the room. Now I have to explain everything to Matt. I close the door and

plops on the couch indicating Matt to sit down.

"Care to explain why she is here? She is supposed to break your head after what you did." Matt says,

sitting beside me.

"Her friends are out of New York for some time. She will stay here until they return." I say, smiling.

His jaw drops to the floor as he gives me a 'are you kidding' look.

"Really? Are you serious? But how? How did you make her agree? Isn't she angry at you?"

"She wouldn't come here if she was angry. I make everything up between us."

"How?"

"Yes because I am not that stupid you thought I was. I will tell you everything later. Now close your

mouth if you don't want to catch a fly." I grin and walk back to the room where Evelyn is, leaving a very

shocked Matt behind.
