Chapter 1365 Gilbert and Marigold (40)
At six in the evening, Gilbert’s car arrived at the entrance of the villa. When he went in, the stylists had just let Marigold change into the dress. They were making their final adjustments.
Gilbert looked at the woman in black standing in the middle of the living room, his eyes wavering. Although he refused to admit it, he was moved.
‘ Mr. Hawthorn.” Someone saw him and greeted him. Everyone else looked his way, including Marigold.
The corners of Marigold’s lips curved. “How do I look?”
“Great.” Gilbert had to admit that she was beautiful.
Marigold was surprised to hear his compliment. She thought he would simply refuse to answer.
The stylists kept on fussing around with her hair. Gilbert went behind her. From the mirror, he could see Marigold clearly. There was a youthful vigor to her beauty that made people want to fawn over her.
His gaze trailed downward and stopped at her bare neck. “Her neck is too bare.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Hawthorn. We have prepared a necklace,” a stylist hurriedly answered. She took out the limited edition jewelry.
It was a three-carat diamond necklace. On its own, it was striking. But it didn’t stand out when it was on Marigold’s neck.
Gilbert wasn’t too satisfied with that and texted Greg.
“She’s ready, Mr. Hawthorn.” The stylist stepped aside so that Gilbert could see Marigold clearly.
Their gazes met. They were feeling a myriad of emotions. For a moment, all was quiet. Then, to ease the awkwardness, Gilbert said, “Just wait another minute.”
“For what?” Marigold looked bewildered, not understanding what he meant.
Gilbert said nothing, merely making her wait.
But quickly, Marigold understood what he meant when Greg arrived. He was holding a box, and he put it on the table. “This is what you requested, Mr. Hawthorn.” Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
God knew how hard he had worked. With Gilbert’s one message, he ran all the way to the shops to buy what he wanted. Most importantly, that shop insisted that this was their most prized possession and refused to sell it. In the end, he had to pay them more than what it cost to get it.
It was already expensive, to begin with, and now it was priceless. On the way there, the assistant thought about taking it and running, living the life that he wanted. However, he didn’t have the guts to do it.
“Put it on her.” Gilbert looked at the stylists. They were about to go toward her, but then Gilbert said, “Oh, never mind. You may all go back.”
The stylists looked at each other in bewilderment but didn’t ask any questions. They packed up their things and left the villa. After they left, Gilbert took the box and told Marigold to sit with him.
“What is it?” Marigold was puzzled. She leaned over to look. When she saw the dazzling necklace in the box, it took her a long time to recover. The diamonds on the necklace were at least ten carats. It couldn’t even be described as priceless.
While Marigold was in a daze, Gilbert had already taken the necklace off her neck and put the new one on. Once he had put it on, he checked her out before nodding in satisfaction. “Beautiful.”
“This…this is too expensive.” She was about to take it off. Even when she was with the Wagners, she had never worn something so expensive.
