Looking at the spacious bed and the man’s hand circling her waist, Cecilia acquiesced to his intents.
She slept rather soundly this time.
However, due to having bottled things up in her heart, she woke up after only an hour’s sleep.
By then, Christopher was already gone.
Cecilia touched the position where he had laid and felt no warmth. Evidently, he left soon after she fell
asleep.
She got up and went to the bathroom to wash her face.
When she came out of the lounge, she immediately saw Christopher sitting in front of his computer,
busy with work.
Hearing the noises, the man looked up at Cecilia.
“It’s still early. Why didn’t you sleep a little longer?”
“A nap shouldn’t last too long, or one’s mind will become more muddled. Can we go do the hypnosis
now?” she asked.
Christopher glanced at the unread emails and answered, “Give me five minutes.”
Cecilia nodded, poured herself a glass of water, and sat down on the couch.
Five minutes later, she and Christopher returned to the hidden chamber behind the wine cellar.
The two men were on the brink of death, their vacant gazes making them look as soulless as walking
corpses.
This state was exactly what Cecilia wanted.
She asked Christopher’s subordinates to take one of the men away, leaving the other behind. Then,
she roughly stuffed a light blue capsule into his mouth.

Once that was done, she poured water into the man’s mouth. Cecilia only released him after ensuring
he had swallowed the drug, then let him fall back to the ground.
She turned to Christopher and said, “It takes time for the drug to work. We have to wait. Go get an
epinephrine autoinjector.” An epinephrine autoinjector was a life–saving device, and many places kept
spares for emergencies.

At once, Christopher told his subordinate to get the item.
Cecilia closed her eyes and rehearsed the hypnosis process in her mind.

Then, Cecilia started counting, and he slowly closed his eyes. With the aid of the drug, the hypnosis
soon succeeded.
Cecilia didn’t ask sensitive questions immediately for fear that being too blunt would put the man on
guard again and thus lead the hypnosis to fail.
Hence, she began with a simple, mundane question. “What time did you get up today?”
He quickly replied, “6:11 a.m.”
“What did you have for breakfast?”
Subsequently, Cecilia asked several irrelevant questions until she made sure that the man’s guard was
down. Then, she started to get down to business.
She knew that hypnosis was a step–by–step process, and the questions had to be tactful instead of
going straight to the point.
Therefore, she queried, “What’s your name?”
The man paused for about a second, then replied, “Karl Newman.”
“Where’s your family?”
Cecilia was well aware that there were only two ways the mastermind could make these people so
faithful to the mission.
One was to control their families and force them into loyalty.
Should they have no weaknesses, they would then be
brainwashed.

captured with you?”
Because it was not related to his own affairs, Karl responded readily and revealed everything he knew.
However, these people were independent individuals, so they didn’t know much about each other.
Regardless, the information he provided was sufficient for Cecilia.
For example, Karl divulged the general background of the other man and how he joined the
mastermind’s organization. The second point was very useful for the investigation of this organization.
Looking at the resistance in Karl’s eyes intensifying, Cecilia knew that the hypnosis was about to lose
its effect.
She seized the last opportunity and asked bluntly, “Why are you guys capturing Cecilia Yancey?”
“I don’t know.”
After saying these words with difficulty, Karl fainted.
He genuinely had no idea about that, for he was the most ancillary person in the organization and
purely had to obey orders.
Cecilia then ordered Christopher’s subordinates to take the unconscious Karl away before bringing the
other man over.

Cecilia imitated the previous man’s voice and simply pretended to be Karl so that she could converse
with this man as a partner.
In this way, the currently hypnotized man before her would be the least on guard, thus providing her

One thing she learned was that the mastermind wasn’t only after the Shaw family because of profits but
also for revenge. A bold idea came to Cecilia’s mind.
She clenched her right hand into a fist and questioned, “Is our master Clusian?”
“I don’t know. I’ve never met him. He’s very mysterious, young, and ruthless.”
“Why is he seeking revenge from the Shaw family?”
“I don’t know.”
Cecilia was well aware that it was impossible for this man to know too much based on his ancillary rank
in the organization. Everything he said must have been hearsay, so it was not yet certain whether there
were any truths to it.
Since she wouldn’t be getting any important information, she asked offhandedly, “When was our
organization established?” “Probably… about 100 years ago.”
This stunned Cecilia for a moment. It was beyond her expectations that the mastermind would have
such a long history.
The fact that the organization hadn’t been eradicated by the Peacekeeping Forces was evidence of its
strength.
“Give me some details,” she continued.
The man joined the organization early and more or less knew things about the general situation of the
organization. Hence, he began prattling on.
