The Proud Boss Lady.

Chapter 20: 20

Chapter 20: 20

Soraya began to miss Zed and she was confused about it.

Why do I miss him?

I could get a better man than him, urggh.

I hate this feeling. She thought to herself banging her head on her work desk. Ever since he left, petty

things had been reminding he'd of him. She sometimes absentmindedly called his name from her room

before she recalls he no longer lived with her.

“I need to take a break, travel and explore the world. I might meet someone much better than Zed

Velasquez." She smiled to herself as she called to book a flight to the Maldives.

“Hi, I want to book a flight from New York City to the Maldives," Soraya said.

“Ma'am, when do you want to leave for the Maldives?" The lady asked.

“On Thursday, that's two days away." She replied.

“First class right?" She inquired.

“Of course, Soraya Wayne doesn't do ebony class, eww." She rudely added.

“Okay, your flight would take off at noon and your ticket would be delivered soon, thanks once again."

The woman told her.

“Okay, bye." She dropped the call.

“The beaches and resorts would have me forget about that nobody in no time." She said to herself.

“Thanks for the ride Zed, I had fun," Freya said as they sat at the seashore.

“You're welcome, and happy birthday!" He said to her as Jess, Jackie and Carla came out with food

and a birthday cake.

“How, what, when?" She fumbled with her words wondering when they got the time to plan all of this.

“Did you think we were going to forget about your birthday?" Jess asked with her hands on her waist.

“I don't know but, I didn't expect this." She admitted.

“Well then, happy birthday Freya, you're one of a kind and I am so thankful that I got to meet a

wonderful, down to earth, caring and loving woman like you. I hope all your wishes come to pass." Jess

told.

“Thank you, girls, I am the luckiest woman on the earth to have such fun, crazy and caring friends like

you. I wouldn't trade you for anything else." She said engulfing them in hugs as Zed wandered off along

the seashore giving them the needed privacy.

“Umm, guys where did Zed go?" Jackie asked after their moment.

“He was here with us a couple of minutes ago. He even left his phone and keys here." Carla pointed to

them.

“I'd go look for him, you ladies stay here," Freya added.

“I hope he doesn't let her slip through his hands this time around or I am so going to strangle him,"

Jackie said.

“Zed?" Freya called out to him wondering where he had gone to.

“Zed!" She called out again getting worried. She felt a hand on her waist as she was about to scream

“Zed you scared me." She said as they sat farther away from the shore where the moonlight reflected.

“I'm sorry." He apologized staring into the skies. The stars were shining bright that night, and they

looked beautiful lightening up the skies.

“It's fine and thanks for the birthday surprise, I owe you one." She thanked. Zed was quiet the whole

time she spoke, his mind wandered far away and he didn't hear what Freya was talking about.

“Zed, are you alright?" She asked but no response.

“Zed?" She shook him lightly.

“Mmmhm?" He murmured.

“What's on your mind, you seem lost?" She inquired.

“I am just thinking of how to ask the most beautiful woman to be my girlfriend. I had been foolish not to

notice her love and sacrifices for me. But not anymore, I want to be there for her, to be the reason she

smiles each day." He said taking her hands into his.

“Are you --- are you serious about this?" She asked him

“I've never been this serious about love, I am serious Freya." He softly said.

“She must be lucky then." She took her hands out of his.

“She is lucky because she's seated right here with me and I all staring at her beautiful face." He smiled.

“You-you want me to be your girl?" She asked beaming with smiles.

“Yes Freya Grey, would you?" He asked formally.

“Of course, I would. I have waited for this moment for ages." She said hugging him as she heard

cheers from her friends behind them.

“You finally grew balls, big bro, we proud of you," Jess added.

Soraya sat by the window side in the plane. She was glad she was getting away from Zed and the

constant reminders of him.

But why is he all over my head? I don't do poor guys, I do men with money.

Money that can take care of my needs and not his measly salary he gets from his crappy coffee shop.

I am Soraya Wayne,

Men fall for me, I don't fall for men. She pursed her red painted plump lips in a thin line just as the air

hostess served her some wine.

“Thank you." She said not looking at the lady's face as she walked off.

She plugged in the headphones as she started blasting on 'Ariana Grande's Thank you Next' song.

“Though I'd end up with Sean

But he wasn't a match

Wrote some songs about Ricky

Now I listen and laugh

Even almost got married

And for Pete, I'm so thankful

Wish I could say "thank you" to Malcolm

'Cause he was an angel

One taught me, love

One taught me patience

And one taught me pain

Now, I'm so amazing

Say I've loved and I've lost

But that's not what I see

So, look at what I got

Look at what you taught me

And for that, I say

Thank you, next (next)

Thank you, next (next)

Thank you, next

I'm so grateful for my ex

Thank you, next (next)

Thank you, next (next)

Thank you, next (next)

“Perfect song lyrics to help me forget about that lowlife called Zed Velasquez. All you single men watch

out for Soraya Wayne, she's coming for Ya. And oh lady holds on tight to your men." She said to her

self looking out of the window.

“I rule love, love doesn't rule me. I choose who I want to love so heart, stop beating for Zed. He's old

news, though his D was so good, I am so over him and his D. We moving on to more juicy D's in the

Maldives as well as more sexy hunks, sexier than Zed Velasquez." She thought to herself as she

sipped her wine in happiness.

Let's wait to see what awaits her in the Maldives?
