Chapter twenty-five
Vincenzo Salvatore
Opening the room, I stumbled inside, looking completely disheveled. I ran my hand through my hair, which was an absolute mess, and tried to straighten out my clothes. Despite my best efforts, I still looked haggard and worn out. I am no longer looking like the old me, I no longer dress sophisticated like my old self. I am always looking haggard and mentally stressed out.
As I switched on the room light, I quickly scanned the area, but Ava was nowhere to be found. I wonder where she could possibly be and that’s when I remember that she has a life apart from being my fiance.
“Not any fiance…. But choosing, I want our real mate!” My angry wolf was quick to chime in, shrieking with distaste.
Letting out a sigh, I reluctantly blocked him, pushing him to the back of my mind. I just didn’t have the strength to engage in a war of words or argue with him. It would only worsen my already buzzing headache.
I kicked off my shoes and tiredly tossed them to the other side of the room, not bothering to arrange them neatly in the shoe rack. “The omega will take care of it tomorrow,” I reassured myself and tiredly pushed myself towards the bar. With my mind in its current state right now, I knew what I needed was a strong drink since alcohol hardly had any effect on werewolves. Taking a quick glance at my bar, I let out a sigh and grabbed the strongest alcohol I had among the rest: Spirytus Rektyfikowany.
Ever since she disappeared, I’ve been feeling lost and confused. My wolf doesn’t make it any easier. It’s like they’re both conspiring to drive me insane. I need her presence to keep me grounded. As I poured the drink into the tumbler, the door to my room swung open, but I didn’t bother to look up. I already knew who it was. Her scent filled the room.
“Oh!” she exclaimed, stunned. “You’re already back? I’ve been searching for you everywhere,” she said, quietly walking up to my side.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“How have you been?” she whispered, her breath trailing around my earlobe. Leaning forward, she planted a sensual kiss on my forehead. “You seem sad,” she observed, her eyes scanning me cautiously.
Clearing my throat, I let out a puff of breath. “I’m fine, Ava, don’t worry about me,” I said, downing the drink in the tumbler in one go. My grip tightened around the glass as the liquid bitterly rushed down my throat.
“I am your chosen mate, and your rightful luna in the future, so I have every right to worry about you, Vincenzo Salvatore,” she declared. I slowly met her gaze and mustered a small, sad smile at her.
She looks so beautiful, kind, and good……. So I don’t want to burden her with my problems, especially when it involves her former best friend, whom she now despises.
“I have a lot on my mind, Ava, and I don’t want to burden you with it,” I blurted out, but she shook her head in disapproval. “It’s fine, you can talk to me,” she insisted.
As I heard her calm, soothing voice, I turned around to face her. I wasn’t lying when I said she looked beautiful. My fingers gently traced the soft, long, flowing black hair that cascaded down her back like a waterfall. All the while, she patiently gazed at me, waiting for me to speak. Our eyes locked once again, and her sparkling emerald and deep silver eyes, which were like precious gems, filled with warmth and curiosity stared back at me.
“Come on, babe,”
“It’s about Emma,” I hesitated, swallowing the words that felt like lead on my tongue. I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of the words. As I glanced at her, I couldn’t help but notice the radiant smile on her face, illuminating the room with her perfectly aligned pearly white teeth.
Sighing, I immediately pulled her closer, resting my head in the nook of her neck. I didn’t want to hurt her with my words; her face held such innocence and kindness. I gently traced my hand along her smooth and flawless skin, like porcelain, with a natural rosy glow on her cheeks. She had a slender figure, gracefully accentuated by her elegant posture. Ava’s fashion sense was impeccable, always dressed in stylish and sophisticated attire that highlighted her natural beauty.
“Is it about the beast?” Her voice was calm and came out in a muffled tone. Seeing a better opportunity to dive in, I nodded and let out a sigh. She patted my head before breaking the hug and cupping my face in her hands. Her eyes sparkled mischievously as she dropped the bombshell. “I heard that your father and the council of elders are planning to send a treaty petition to King Alessandro.”
My ears quickly perked up at the sudden news, what the fuck! What nonsense petition? That Alessandro should be dead and not sending any petition. Is my father even thinking right now? What’s this about a petition to King Alessandro? That’s crazy! I can’t believe my father would even consider such a thing. Is he out of his mind? Has his cowardice clouded his sense of reasoning?
“What in the world is this nonsense?!” I growled, my Alpha aura radiating fiercely. I sensed Ava trembling slightly in my presence, her coughs revealing her discomfort. I quickly tried to reign in my intensity, not wanting to suffocate her with my sudden powerful aura.
I could see how my aura affected her. No man can handle the intense anger of an Alpha unless they’re their true mate or more powerful. My anger was like a blazing beam of light, and this new information only fueled it further. I’m beyond infuriated right now.
“I’m coming!” I exclaimed, eager to leave the room and give her some space. As I turned around, I couldn’t help but catch a glimpse of a mischievous smirk on her face. I decided not to dwell on it too much, knowing I had more important things to focus on right now.
Not me here thinking about Emma and how she mysteriously vanished after those creatures invaded. And here’s my father, busy talking about sending a treaty petition to them…. The same exact enemies that almost killed us that very day. Seriously, shouldn’t we be focusing on how to wipe those creatures out for good?
Come on, Dad! Don’t be a coward forever! If you can’t handle this simple task, step aside and let me take charge. I’ll show those disgusting vampires who’s boss!
