Chapter 114
Chapter 114
Katrina’s POV
I happily wrapped my arms around Silas, leaning my weight against him and letting him support me.
All I wanted to do was to be away from this man.
Before we could take a step, Ethan let out a low chuckle, his face twisted in pain and fury. “You really thought you could walk out of here just like that?”
What? I raised my eyes to look at Ethan, finding a twisted look on his face.
I couldn’t deny that Ethan looked very ugly right now and it made me wonder what I saw in him.
Cause there wasn’t anything to see.
My heart sank as he pulled out a gun from his jacket. His grin stretched wide despite the blood staining his teeth.

with him. He was hiding it all these while?
“Big mistake underestimating me, Silas,” he sneered, pointing the gun at us.
“Wait! Ethan, no!” I screamed but it was too late already.
Everything happened so fast. Too fast dor even Silas to see it coming.
The deafening sound of the gunshot rang through the air, and my whole body froze in terror.
I didn’t know what to do. Should I duck? I couldn’t even move my feet right now.
The gun was directed at me and I could see the bullets moving slowly towards me.
face. My whole life flashed before my eyes at that moment and a tear drop slide down my I don’t want to die. I still have a lot of things to do.
At that moment, I felt Silas grab me, twisting us around as he shielded me with his body.
My eyes widened as he pressed my face into his building, wrapping his arms around me protectively.
Why? I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t think.
The bullet had hit him instead.
He didn’t have to take it for me. Why did he…
My ears buzzed, everything was still around me and my knees wobbled.
Wha- Why-
Why did he do that? 1t think of a single coherent sentence at that moment.
Silas‘ eyes seemed to loose their light, his lips pulling into a pained smirk.
My hand felt the wetness on his shirt as his blood soaked through.
“Relax. This wouldn’t be the first time I’d be getting shot,” Silas joked lightly, but he could barely keep himself upright.

It took a moment for tre to process what had happened. And then I screamed.
“Silas!”
His body collapsed against mine and I staggered, trying to steady us both.
Ethan stood at the same spot, watching me with his eyes glinting evilly.
“And the hero saved the damsel at the cost of his own life!” Ethan thundered, clapping his hand loudly.
I ignored him, focusing on doing whatever I could to save Silas.
His breathing was sharp and uneven, his head hanging on mu shoulders.
Blood poured from the wound in his side, staining my hands as tried to press against it.
Please. Please. Please.
For what seemed to be the first time, I feared for another life that wasn’t mine.
I could feel the tears filling my eyes and I forced myself to blink it back.
“Stay with me,” I begged, my voice trembling. “Please, Silas, stay with me.”
I didn’t know what to do… I felt completely helpless as I pressed harder.
had to save Silas. I had to save his life somehow.
But looking at the blood which had stained my fingers, my heart plummeted down to my stomach.
Slowly I let him down to the floor, being careful not to cause him more harm than I did already.

I wasn’t certain if I could save him. My eyes shook as I brought my hands to my face, the crimson red staring brightly at me.
Ethan’s laugh cut through my panic, it sounded cold and cruel. Sounded as if he was proud of what he had done.
“What now, little girl? Going to cry over your hero?” Ethan mocked and I raised my eyes to glare hard at him.
My eyes were red, a tear sliding down my face.
The bastard. Anger coursed through my veins and all that filled my mind was making Ethan feel ten times worse.
I wanted him to feel ten times worse, I wanted to see him pay!
My hands shook as I reached for Silas’s gun, it was lying a few feet away from where I had kept him.
I could hear his shallow breaths in my ear, each one weaker than the last.
“I won’t let you hurt him,” I whispered, my fingers curling around the cold metal.
Ethan’s smile faltered as I stood, aiming the gun at him. My hands were trembling, tears streaking down my face, but I didn’t
care.
“Don’t be stupid,” he said, raising his hands mockingly. “You don’t have it in you-
The shot echoed before he could finish.
Ethan’s eyes widened in shock as the bullet hit him square in the head. His body slumped to the ground with a loud thud, lifeless.

But I didn’t stop there. Het qut another bullet, and another. Continuously until his body was riddled with bullets and I had run out of.
I dropped the gun immediately, my hands going back to Silas. His blood soaked through my fingers and my tears fell onto his shirt.
“Help!” I screamed, my voice hoarse. “Somebody, please help us!
I wasn’t certain what about the chances of us getting help here. I didn’t know if Silas had come around with Phillip or something else, but all I needed was for someone to come help us.
Silas’s hand weakly gripped mine, his eyes fluttering open for a moment. “You… did good,” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
He saw me. The dumbass was supposed to be conserving strength, but he had to praise me for killing a man?
Stupid. Stupid man.
“Don’t talk,” I whispered through sobs. “You’ll be fine, Silas. Just stay with me. Help is coming.
I didn’t believe that even though I said it. I wasn’t certain who I was trying to convince. Silas or myself?
But all I could do was hope.
I pressed harder against his wound, my entire body shaking. His blood was everywhere–on my hands, on my clothes, pooling beneath him.
I felt hopeless, like his life was slowing slipping away from my hands. I had to stay here to stop the bleeding, and I didn’t know if the people outside where on our side.
The sound of footsteps approached in the distance, and I prayed they were on our side.
“Stay with me,” I repeated, rocking slightly as I cradled his head in my lap.
For once, Silas didn’t argue.
