The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus)

Chapter 463

Chapter 463

The kidnapper had been lurking in the shadows for a long time, his gaze piercing the darkness for any sign of the cops. It wasn't until the coast was clear that he finally eased up. He strode over to where Gabby was bound, grabbed her arm with a rough jerk, and spat out, “You damn bitch! What the hell are you screaming for? You got the cash?!”

Faced with the man's menacing glare, Gabby fumbled for the card that Lucius had given her, handing it over, “It’s here, on the card.”

The kidnapper snatched the bank card from her, growling, “The PIN! Now!”

After Gabby rattled off the numbers, she clutched at the kidnapper's sleeve, desperation in her voice, “Please, just let me see my child first.”

“Don't worry, she ain’t dead!” He shoved Gabby aside, then warned her with a vicious sneer, “Listen here, I'm gonna go withdraw the money, and if it ain’t ten million in there, you're toast!”

Gabby hardly registered his threat; her mind was consumed with thoughts of her daughter’s safety. She grabbed at the kidnapper's hand again, pleading, “Please, I'm begging you, let me see my child!”

Something akin to pity flickered across the kidnapper's face as he looked at Gabby, who could barely stand from crying. He gave her another shove and hissed, “Follow me and keep your trap shut, or I'll end you!”

Nodding frantically, Gabby would have agreed to anything just to lay eyes on her daughter, Anna.

The kidnapper led Gabby down the docks, heading towards a cluster of abandoned trailers under the bridge. It was pitch black under the bridge, and Gabby stumbled, nearly tripping over debris. But she clenched her teeth and kept up with the kidnapper, fearing he might leave her behind.

After what felt like a long trek, the kidnapper ushered Gabby into a dimly lit trailer and stepped inside. Gabby’'s heart raced; she knew this must've been the kidnapper's hideout, and she followed without hesitation.

The light inside was dingy, and seated was a man with a scar across his face. A few shirtless guys with tattoos were huddled around playing cards.

The sight of Gabby being brought in caught them off guard, and Scarface glared at the man who brought her in. “What the hell are you doing bringing her here?!”

The kidnapper, cowed by the rebuke, stuttered, pointing at Gabby. “She gave up her bank card, then started bawling about seeing her kid, so | brought her over.”

Enraged, Scarface slapped the kidnapper. “Idiot, check the card first! If there’s no money, I'll skin you alive!” The reprimanded henchman didn’t dare utter a word and hurried out with the card. Gabby, faced with these thugs, didn’t feel fear; she had lost everything except for her daughter. For Anna, she’d risk her very life.

“I've given you the money. Now | want to see my child,” Gabby said, her gaze unwavering as she addressed Scarface, the apparent ringleader.

Scarface, intrigued by Gabby's fierce look, gave a crooked smile, revealing his stained teeth. “I like your spirit, lady. We wouldn't have followed you if we hadn’t seen you alone with a kid at that fancy hotel.”

Gabby stepped back, shocked. They had been shadowing her all along. No matter how tight security was, it couldn't protect against the determined criminals.

Looking at Gabby, biting her teeth and remaining silent, Scarface tilted his head and chuckled, "However, I'm quite curious, what important business could have led you to leave your child alone at the hotel?"

Gabby did not answer Scarface's question, but continued to plead, "| have already paid as you instructed. Please let me see my child."

Scarface didn't bother to pry further. He had asked casually earlier and didn't really expect an answer. Scarface gestured towards his poker-playing henchmen, "Take her over there, be careful and don't let her escape."

As one of his men stood to escort Gabby away, Scarface had a sudden change of heart. “Wait, bring the kid here. | don’t trust this one.”

Scarface had lived on the edge, tasting blood on the blade's edge. His instincts told him Gabby was no pushover; he sensed the smell of blood around her and decided to act on the spot.

The lackey nodded meekly and left, returning shortly with Anna slung over his shoulder.

Gabby's eyes lit up with hope at the sight of her daughter. She reached out, “My baby, give her to me.”

“Anna, are you okay? Mommy's here, sweetheart, you're safe,” Gabby asked frantically, her heart racing with fear.

But something was off; Anna didn't cry out in pain or even open her eyes. Clutching Anna to her chest, Gabby cried out in anguish, “Anna, what’s happened to you?”

She looked up, her eyes simmering with a dark intensity. “What did you do to her?”Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Scarface, annoyed by Gabby’s wailing and wary of her glare, snapped, “Shut up with your wailing, will ya? The kid ain't dead; just sedated her ‘cause she was too noisy.”

Hearing that, Gabby felt a weight lift off her, yet she remained uneasy. She pressed her ear against Anna's small chest and only relaxed when she could hear the faint heartbeat.

Anna hadn't been hurt in the fall; she was already unconscious. After ensuring Anna's safety, Gabby realized that they were in grave danger. She had to get her daughter out of there, and fast.
