Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Meredith's eyes were red, and she was trembling with fear, "You can't stop me. There's always a time
when you can't show up. What can you do to me then?"
"If you really want to die, why don't you just find a way to kill yourself in prison?" The man's eyes were
especially bright in the dark, as if they could penetrate the deepest part of Meredith's heart. "Think
about why you still want to live and be free after suffering these. Think about the people who let you
suffer and the abuse you have gone through in the past three years or more. Do you really want to
die?"
Meredith's hands were trembling, with tears flowing down her face. How could she be willing to die like
this? Her grievances had not been solved, and she had not reunited with her mother. But now, facing
the Xaviers, which was struggling, and this man who was going to hurt her at any time, she could do
nothing.
What else could she do?
The man was still holding the glass shard which was in her hand. The two of them were in a stalemate.
A moment later, he leaned over to Meredith's ear and whispered, "Be obedient, and I can give you
more than the Xaviers does. I can help you with whatever you want."
His words made Meredith shudder slightly. The words were like a bewitching spell that made Meredith
hesitate.
Could this man really help her?
"Why, why are you helping me?"
"You don't need to know now."
After that, the man let go of Meredith and took the glass from her hand. He turned around and walked
to the balcony. He pulled aside a corner of the curtain to let the moonlight come in. Meredith felt a
sense of security when she saw his tall and straight back. He looked so strong.
He turned his head slightly and said, "I'll give you three days to think about it, and I'll come back to you
after that."
After that, he jumped out of the balcony. Meredith sat up slowly. The bloodstains on her neck which
were made by the man were clotted, but her heart was beating forcefully.
She thought that could this man really help her to solve her grievances and let her reunite with her
mother. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
For the next three days, the man indeed didn't appear, and Meredith did not decide whether to make a
deal with him or not.
A mere verbal statement was no guarantee, so she could not believe this man easily. She didn't even
know how she would deal with him the night after three days.
On the morning of the third day, Meredith had just finished her meal when she was called to the Old
Master's study.
In the quiet study, the elder man looked at Meredith's haggard face with no pity in his eyes, "Have you
reflected on yourself thoroughly?"
Meredith lowered her head obediently, "It's my fault. From now on, I will not let Derek suffer any more
harm. I will take good care of him."
Mr. Xavier nodded, "the Xaviers is not unreasonable. I saw you taking care of Derek in the past month.
If something like this happens again, I think you know very well what the punishment is."
"I know." Meredith pursed her dry lips.
"Since that's the case, take a break today. The Mason Family doesn't know about you getting out of
prison, does it? You can go back to the Mason Family today."
Meredith looked up abruptly, "Really?" Could she go home and see her mother?
The Old Master nodded and Meredith bowed gratefully, "Thank you! Thank you! I'll be back soon!"
The elder man's eyes flashed with an unknown meaning, but he didn't say more. He just waved his
hand to let her go.
