Chapter 49: 49

Chapter 49: 49

The next morning, Elliot and I woke up early to walk Sandy around. Whilst walking, it came across our

minds to start walking towards the business building. Elliot then decided to finally take us on a tour. The

building housed about fifty floors. Upon the elevators opening, there was a large information desk that

held three assistants. They were all gorgeous, tall and young-looking. They greeted but as we walked

away, there was some bad mouthing on the side. I felt a little uncomfortable as Elliot continued to tour

me around his office.

Elliot’s office was on the fiftieth floor. On this floor, there was a single conference room that could house

about twenty people. There was a bar at the end of the conference room. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

“Business operations Analysts are housed on the fifteenth floor” he starts to say, “you’ll get your own

desk and you’ll have an access to the floor cafeteria and quiet lounge. If I’m not mistaken, you will be

working majority of your time with teammates so brainstorming is a must for the role.” He tells me.

I nod at him. He continues tot ell me some more things but hen suddenly, I blurt out, “Are your

employees aware who I am?”

He raises a brow, “What?”

I cross my hands over my chest, “I mean do they know who I am to you, what we are as a couple . . .

that we are a couple?” I ask him.

“I think the whole of Singapore knows that we got married as of course my employees know who you

are” he tells me, “Why? What is this about?” he asks.

I swallow, “Nothing. Okay, my office will be on the fifteenth floor? Yeah? Okay”

Elliot just looked at me. His face confused and a little worried, “Eli, what’s going on?”

I shake my head, “Nothing. I have … I just have thoughts on what my life is going to be like. What

working with your employees are going to think of me whilst I am working for you” I tell him. “I’m not

going to be sensitive about what I’m going to her, Elliot but I just want you to understand that I will have

my limits” I tell him.

Elliot walks towards me. He wraps his arms around me. He presses me against his chest, “I know. I’m

sorry. I understand” he whispers in my ears.

“Elliot, my life is already a mess, don’t make me hate this life that we’re building” I whisper as a tear

rolls down on my face. I sniff a little, my hands fall on the side of my waist.

Elliot is silent but I could tell that he was sorry about what I was feeling. No. I don’t want anyone feeling

sorry for me. That’s not me. That’s not who I am but I do wish to be respected. I wipe my tears and

stand tall.

“Okay, I’ll see you in a month in this office, Elliot. I will face people as if I own this company which

technically, I do but I don’t want to rub it in their faces. I want to be graceful when handling situations

such as this.
