Chapter 47: 47

Chapter 47: 47

Elliot and I bid our parents our goodbyes and closed the door behind them. Elliot and I then decided to

rest for a bit before leaving. I then started thinking about what our parents were talking about awhile

ago. I was thinking of my future with the company, I will forever be behind the shadow of Elliot and his

family. Even if I get to achieve something no my own, there’s always that hint of nepotism, which it is. I

sit back on the couch with my arms crossed over my chest. Elliot sits beside me and I get lost in

thought. I take a quick look at Elliot. He was a little quiet as well.

“Eli, if you feel like you would be more comfortable taking this training from the bottom up, it’s fine with

me. I was just saying that there was no need for you to do it” he says in a low voice.

“Elliot, I know you mean well. I know that there really is no need for me to do this but I want to. I will be

doing this for the rest of my life and nothing else, it would only make sense that I get to know the

operations in and out” I tell him, “I know I have the luxury to do everything without jeopardizing anything

on my end. Elliot, you have to understand where I’m coming from”

Elliot nods, “Eli, I know”

My eyes start roaming around the condo, how this was all provided by our families and not by our own

money. This is the curse and the blessing that I will possess in this lifetime. I know the privilege that I

hold and I am thankful but at the end of the day, I know where I stand.

“Eli, you can start whenever you want. I’ve seen your schedule for your classes. I think you get Fridays

and Saturdays off from your classes so I think you could start coming into the office from there?” he

suggests.

I smile at him, “Thanks, Elliot. I can’t wit to start my day”

“I’ll have my assistant set up a desk for you at Business Operations. We’ll give you a month’s worth of

grace period to get to know the business and an exam will be given to you to assess where your

learnings are”

I nod, “Okay. How about you give me a tour today?”

His eye widened, “Today? It’s a weekend and we promised to spend s much time as we could together

before your classes and internships start”

I raise a brow, “Your classes will start as well. What’s your schedule like?”

He sighs, “I have three classes a week, eight in the morning ‘till ten in the morning. It’s a light semester”

he tells me.

My mouth opens a little but then I close it again. Elliot notices and asks, “What?”

I swallow, “I just--- I keep forgetting that you’re also a professor. I just … I could not even imagine it,

Elliot”

He starts to chuckle, “It’s not that amazing. I mean it’s you know, you’re a professor and a businessman

as well” he shrugs.

I squint my eyes, “You fool around with your female students, don’t you?” I tease him.

He raises his hands, “NO! I would never. That’s inappropriate”

I roll my eyes, “Even just once?” I ask him

“Eli, come on” he sounds annoyed, a little insulted even with the thought that I would even think that he

could do such thing.

“No student came up to you and tried something on you?” I ask him. He rolls his eyes and answers me

but annoyed.

“There were a couple but of course, I won’t be doing anything” he tells me. I look at Elliot. I believe him

but I knew there is a small portion of me that is still reserved about this. I kept my silence and looked

out into the window. Elliot and I are both silent. My hand falls on the sofa and so does his. He slowly

slides his hands and entwines it with mine.

“Eli, this is not something you need to worry about” he whispers, “I am honest and my intentions are

pure”

We continue to be silent. At this point, we both know that there was something in the room that we

need to not discuss. Elliot tugs on my hand and urges me to place my back against his chest. We

snuggle on the couch for a moment.

“I love you, Eli. I’ll do anything to make you happy. I’ll cross any ocean for you” he whispers,

“Remember how you asked about the only woman I loved?” Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

I nodded, “Yes” I answer softly

“That was you” he tells me.

I smile to myself. I knew. When I saw the messages, the quick exchanges from his friends. The manner

by which he takes good care of me. The manner by which he touches me. It was filled with love that

rooted from a long time ago. I snuggled closer to him. I=He places his chin on my shoulder. We remain

seated, just enveloped in each other’s presence.
