Chapter 240 Flawed Worldviews

"Holly, because of Brendon, I won't send you to the police station. But remember, if you ever shout and disturb patients in the hospital again, don't blame me for being impolite!" Steve said as he gave a nod to the security guard who had just arrived.

The guard immediately stopped Holly and escorted her out.

Holly was a rich girl who had never experienced such humiliation before.

"Steve! You've gone too far! After all these years of friendship, you're going to side with Ranita?" Holly accused Steve in anger.

Before this incident, Steve thought that Amiya had spoiled Holly too much. But now it seemed that it wasn't just about being spoiled - Holly's values were also problematic!

"Holly, I stand by what's right!" Steve paused and looked at Chris. "I'm sure Chris feels the same way."

Holly looked at Chris and saw disappointment in his eyes. She felt embarrassed and humiliated as if she was nailed to a shame pole with no face left!

Fuming with anger, Holly ran away. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Chris put the flowers on the table and sat down properly on his chair. "Sorry that Holly caused trouble for you again," he apologized.

"It has nothing to do with you guys," Ranita sighed. "Mr. Webster, why do you have time today?"

"Chris wanted to come see you earlier but Brendon is guarding here every day so he couldn't get in," Steve said lightly while crossing his arms.

"I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner," Chris smiled apologetically while asking about her health status.

In fact, Chris had put in a lot of effort looking for Ranita but there was no need to mention it now.

"There's nothing wrong anymore! The doctor said I can be discharged from the hospital."

"That's great then! We have nothing else planned this afternoon so let us take you home!" Steve checked his watch before suggesting they celebrate over lunch together.

They enjoyed their lunch very much together.

Steve went back to work at the hospital while Chris accompanied Ranita back home for her first time since she got sick.

At her doorstep instead of entering inside like usual guests would do; he politely asked, "Can I help carry anything? Do you need any assistance?"

"I can manage myself fine. Thanks, Mr. Webster." Ranita smiled sweetly at him.

She had been resting well these past few days which made her skin look even more beautiful than usual - making anyone feel comfortable around her presence alone.

Chris felt relaxed around Ranita without any reason whatsoever.

"Don't worry about being polite!"

"I'm really sorry for pushing back our scheduled work with you," Ranita said, feeling guilty about Chris.

Chris smiled. "It's okay. The materials you prepared for me before were very useful."

"Anyway, I'm still sorry," Ranita sighed. She couldn't believe how many setbacks she had been facing lately. "Let me take you out to dinner sometime."

After Chris left, Ranita took a nap at home.

Half asleep and half awake, she didn't sleep well.

The days when she was kidnapped had caused her harm; without Brendon by her side, she would wake up in cold sweat.

Startled awake, Ranita realized it was already dark outside.

The apartment was pitch black without any lights on. As soon as she moved her leg, a sharp pain shot through it - another cramp!

Only those who had experienced the pain of cramps can truly understand it.

Ranita wanted to call for help but the pain was too much; all she could do was curl up in bed and break into a cold sweat from head to toe...

Suddenly there was a sound of opening door.

"Click!"

She cried out like a cat, "Brendon..."
