Chapter 2390
Chapter 2390
This situation had spiraled far beyond Jack's expectations, layered with complexities and hidden agendas.
Justin sat tall, his posture straight and demeanor upright, exuding an air of righteous confidence.
His military background shone through, his presence steady and commanding completely at odds with someone allegedly controlled by drug addiction.
"I didn't know it was a drug," Justin added, his tone calm yet resolute. "As you mentioned, this is a new designer drug that only emerged in Savrow two months ago. Even those as experienced as you have just recently encountered it. How could someone like me, with no prior exposure, recognize it?"
Justin's piercing gaze met Jack's.
"Secondly, if I had known, I would never have taken it. My body is already facing health challenges. Adding drug use would be suicidal. Do you think I value my life so little?"
He paused, his words sharp and unwavering. "Am I so tired of living that I'd dig my own grave?"
Jack hesitated, grappling with the sheer conviction emanating from Justin. His argument was logical, his presence commanding. It was difficult to reconcile this man with the image of a drug addict.
Clarence broke the silence, his tone measured but firm. "Captain Lowe, I suggest you summon Dr. Amaryllis for questioning immediately. If she was the one providing the medication, she must know its origin. Furthermore, if the pills found in Mr. Salvador's office are indeed Crystal Ice, then Dr. Amaryllis is a prime suspect."
He leaned forward, his voice unyielding. "She has unrestricted access to the Salvador family and is close to Mr. Salvador as his personal physician. You have to consider the likelihood that she planted the drugs in his office." Jack froze. Clarence's reasoning struck a chord, raising questions he had not yet considered.
Late into the night. Gregory sat in his armchair in his study at Tideview Manor, his chest heavy with frustration. His expression was clouded with worry as Paul massaged his shoulders.
"How could Justin be involved with drugs? That's not the son I know," Gregory muttered, his voice laced with disbelief.
"Dad, please take care of your health," Grant said, stepping forward. He poured a cup of tea and placed it before his father. "I'll handle Justin's situation. I'll get him out as soon as possible and minimize the damage to the Salvador Corporation."
"Minimize the damage? The news has already spread! Tomorrow, when the market opens, our stock prices will plummet again!" Gregory clenched his fists in frustration.
Grant remained composed, a slight smile playing on his lips. "As long as we secure the A5 project, the stock prices will hit their upper limit, and all losses will be recovered."Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Gregory shook his head, pressing a hand to his throbbing temple. "I still don't believe Justin would take drugs. Despite my disagreements with him, I've always trusted his character."
Clarice, standing to the side, hesitated before speaking. "Maybe it's the stress. Between his illness, work, and his recent breakup with Ms. Thompson, his mental state might've..."
"Clarice, this isn't your concern," Grant interrupted coldly, his tone firm.
Clarice's expression faltered, but she quickly stepped back, her lips pressed tightly together.
Gregory sighed, rubbing his temples. "With the project looming and Justin caught up in this mess, I'll have to take on the external affairs myself."
"If you trust me, Dad, I can assist you." Grant offered, his gaze sincere as he met Gregory's eyes.
Before Gregory could respond, the butler's anxious voice came from outside the door.
"Chairman Salvador, the police are here. They're saying they need to take someone in for questioning."
Gregory's patience wore thin. Slamming his fist on the desk, he asked angrily, "Who?!"
The butler hesitated before replying, "Dr. Clarice Amaryllis."
The three men in the room turned to look at Clarice simultaneously.
Her face went pale, desperately glancing at Grant.
"Clarice, go." Grant's lips curled into a faint, unreadable smile. His voice was calm, devoid of emotion, leaving no room for negotiation. "Cooperate with the police and answer their questions honestly."
