The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 105

Chapter 105

In the evening, Cordelia's mood had finally improved a bit. She lay in bed, asking Ronan, "What did you

hand over to the prosecution?"

Ronan pulled out a stack of documents from the bedside table and handed them to Cordelia. "Take a

look for yourself."

Looking at the documents, Cordelia was horrified. Ten years ago, Thomas collaborated with several

companies to boycott a rising real estate firm, Signature Estates. They even fabricated the city-shaking

Widow Dismemberment Case, which led to a massive blow to the reputation of Signature Estates'

CEO, Olen Evans. Signature Estates was knocked off its feet, with Olen attempting suicide and

subsequently moving abroad with his wife.

Cordelia turned her head to look at Ronan, who was no longer reading a book, but leaning against the

bedhead, half-closing his eyes and smoking.

"Olen is..." Cordelia searched for the right words.

"My dad." Ronan interjected.

Cordelia slowly nodded her head. Now she finally knew where her in-laws had gone. Suddenly, she

understood that beneath Ronan's calm and composed surface, there was his painful past. This pain

was caused by Jamie's father, and Barney was diagnosed with lung cancer.

She really wanted to hug Ronan, but she was afraid he would push her away. She had always thought

she was the pitiful one, but now, Ronan was too. However, she couldn't contain her inner urges and

turned around to hug Ronan.

"I didn't know this." Cordelia's tears rolled down, her voice slightly choked up.

"Didn't know what?" Ronan heard Cordelia's voice and saw her crying again, crying so pitifully that he

actually laughed.

"I was angry at you before because I didn't know you were also..." Cordelia wiped her tears, suddenly

feeling that Ronan was a good person. He gave her money, helped her with everything, and found a

caretaker for her mother. Their relationship was baseless, only money, but he still did what he should.

"If I knew you were like this, I wouldn't have been angry at you!"

This was actually Ronan's strategy. Jamie wanted to buy clothes to embarrass Ronan, but he wouldn't

let Jamie succeed. If Cordelia knew the clothes were bought by Jamie, who knows what would happen,

so, Ronan used this strategy to make Cordelia mistakenly think that when he had previously admitted

the clothes were his, it was just a misunderstanding. He let Jamie say it himself, showing Jamie's

narrow-mindedness. And through his warning this time, Jamie would have to think twice before making

a move.

Unexpectedly, the person acting didn't get emotionally involved, but the one watching did. Ronan's goal

was achieved!

"So, don't be mad at me in the future!" Ronan took the opportunity to say.

Cordelia nodded her head solemnly.

The next morning, Cordelia woke up early. This was one of the few times she woke up earlier than

Ronan since they started living together.

Cordelia and Janice were making breakfast downstairs, and she even made a lunch box for herself.

When Ronan came downstairs, Cordelia carefully arranged his breakfast. A sandwich, sausage, cereal,

and coffee...

"You've changed? Are you starting to care about your husband?" Ronan said while buttoning his cuff.

"Yes, didn't I tell you last night? I will try to avoid making you angry from now on." Cordelia stood in

front of Ronan, looking up at him as she spoke.

Their conversation made Barney, sitting aside, chuckle and continue eating his meal.

"What's this?" Ronan saw the lunch box next to the dining table and asked Cordelia.

"Oh, this is a lunch box I prepared for myself. It's all light food, chicken breast, salad, fried egg, and two

slices of whole wheat bread. You suggested before that I should eat less spicy food, but most of the

food outside is heavy-flavored, I have to eat even if I don't want to, so I made it myself," Cordelia

replied to Ronan seriously, holding her fork. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

"Good," Ronan said approvingly, then started eating.

After breakfast, Cordelia took her lunch box and got in the car, then carefully said, "Honey, since I'm not

sure about your taste, I didn't make food for you."

"Roast beef, chicken breast, bolognese, cream pasta, and fried steak, you can make these, right? I

think you may not be able to make more complicated dishes," He replied.

Cordelia coughed lightly; she was just politely stating the reason why she didn't cook for Ronan. But

how could he say that she couldn't make more complicated dishes?

Did he mean that Cordelia should also cook for him next time?

Cordelia felt that she was really asking for trouble, adding an extra task for herself.
