The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 102

Chapter 102

When Manda saw Cordelia, she paused for a moment, then shot Cordelia a side-eye.

Cordelia noticed but had no idea why she was getting the cold shoulder.

"Manda, are you working in the Audit Department now?" Cordelia asked.

Since deciding not to join the Audit Department, Cordelia had stopped caring about it. She was worried

that the more she thought about it, the more she would yearn for it.

"How could I possibly get into your company’s Audit Department? Thanks to you, I can't even if I

wanted to!" Manda replied with a sarcastic tone.

"So, you didn't get in?" Cordelia asked her again, not understanding why Manda couldn’t just give a

straight answer.

Manda didn't answer; instead, she just glanced at Cordelia and walked away.

Cordelia then overheard a conversation in the office, "Mr. Colby, I'm here to get my transcript. I checked

I scored 76, that's pretty high, right?"

"Pretty good." Jamie handed over the transcript to Manda. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Mr. Colby, is there anyone in our class who scored higher than me?" Manda asked again.

"Cordelia did, she scored 84."

Manda didn't say anything.

Cordelia didn't catch the rest of the conversation and left. After getting into Ronan's car, she asked

Ronan, "So Manda didn't get into the Audit Department?"

"Do I have to keep tabs on every employee?" Ronan retorted.

Cordelia didn't continue, realizing that Ronan probably didn't care much about these things.

"Where did you get your transcript?" Ronan asked again.

Cordelia's face turned red immediately. She and Jamie had nothing going on, but every time Ronan

asked, it felt as though she had a one-night stand with Jamie. So she vaguely replied, "Just from one of

the administration staff."

Ronan didn't say anything, but he was thinking, "Who are you trying to fool? I clearly saw Adrian's car."

The next day when Cordelia showed up to work in her new outfit, the office chatter started,

"She's changed."

"Look at who she married, Mr. Evans."

"I bet that outfit was bought by Mr. Evans, look at the material. Definitely not cheap, probably several

thousands of dollars."

"Keep your voices down. Office gossip can cost you."

Cordelia was planning to ignore these comments like she usually did, but who would've thought that in

the afternoon, someone would try to sneak a photo up her skirt and another person would grope her

chest on the bus.

Cordelia was furious and blamed it on her new outfit. Coupled with Jamie's look yesterday and the

office gossip this morning, she decided to return the rest of the clothes. She regretted spending so

much money on clothes in a fit of anger against Ronan.

The next day at work, Cordelia went back to her usual attire and dumped the remaining five or six

outfits in Ronan's car, planning to return them with Brooklyn in the afternoon.

"Why are you lugging all these clothes around?" Ronan glanced at the five or six shopping bags in her

hand.

"I'm planning to return them. I don't like these clothes anymore."

"If you didn't like them, why did you buy them?" Ronan asked.

Cordelia looked out of the window, thinking, “Actually, I bought them out of spite because you had an

affair!” But she didn't say it out loud.

"Were you mad at me for having an affair?" Ronan asked.

Cordelia was taken aback, how did he know everything? She looked at Ronan in horror. "I…"

"I'm with you every day. When would I have the time for an affair?" Ronan said casually while driving.

Cordelia thought to herself, “True, he's always at home after work and hardly goes anywhere. He

doesn't seem interested in the hustle and bustle of the outside world.” Thinking of this, a smile crept

onto Cordelia's face.

"Why did you buy so many clothes and then decide to return them? Mr. Evans can afford them."

Brooklyn asked after work, looking at the clothes in Cordelia's hands.

"He can afford it, but I can't live such a lavish lifestyle."

In the mall, Cordelia, and Brooklyn each held a cup of coffee and slowly browsed the shops. As for

Ronan, Cordelia told him to go home and not wait for her.

Coincidentally, Adrian and Kendra were also at the mall. Kendra was eyeing all the merchandise while

Adrian could only watch, unable to afford them. Then they saw Cordelia, who was returning some

clothes.

"Cordelia, you look great in these clothes. Why are you returning them?" Adrian sneered.

Kendra was even more annoyed. The clothes were so expensive, each costing thousands. Adrian

couldn't afford them; only Jamie could. But Jamie wouldn't even look at her, while Cordelia was

returning them, making her both envious and jealous.

"I don't like these clothes, so I'm returning them." Cordelia didn't want to bother with Adrian or Kendra.

"But Cordelia, you really do look good in these clothes. Very eye-catching." Adrian started to

compliment Cordelia again.

"How would you know?" Cordelia frowned as she was wearing ordinary clothes today.

"I'm just guessing. Who wouldn't look good in clothes this expensive?" Adrian realized he'd misspoke

and quickly made up an excuse.

Cordelia didn't give a hoot about Adrian and returned the clothes.

After parting with Kendra, Adrian immediately buzzed Jamie. "Ronan bought Della a few pieces of

clothing, probably just to show off when Della comes to get her report card from you. But now, he's had

Della return the clothes. Della actually quite liked these clothes, you know how girls are, always eager

to doll up. When she was returning the clothes just now, she seemed pretty bummed out, it broke my

heart to see. If I weren't strapped for cash, do you think I'd let my sister put up with this crap?"

"What did you say?" Clearly, Jamie was riled up by Adrian's pot-stirring. How could he let Cordelia be

treated this way? Ronan was clearly loaded, how could he treat Cordelia like this?
