Chapter 559
Chapter 559
Although Brian knew Noelle's position, Noelle did not want to show any favoritism in front of anyone.
"Chill, it's strictly business!" Charles retorted with a huff. "You think your hubby can't keep work and play separate?"
Noelle narrowed her eyes, gave a small nod, and whispered under her breath, "However, isn't that exactly what you do?"
Phone in hand, Charles paused mid-dial and shot Noelle a quick, sidelong glance. She quickly looked away, feigning innocence.
With a resigned shake of his head, Charles dialed Brian. "Mr. Parker, Noelle's free this afternoon, right? I need to borrow her for a bit!"
Brian hesitated, his lips tightening. "Yes!" He said it, but inwardly he was kicking himself and throwing a little shade Charles's way for good measure.
Had their boss really gotten so bad at keeping things professional? The project department was swamped, and there Charles was, whisking Noelle away. After all, she was Brian's ace.
Charles escorted Noelle out of Collosus Group, and only when they were cruising down City Ring Avenue did she ask again, "You said this was business? So where to? We're not going to pick someone up at the airport, are we?"
Charles gave her a sly look. "Noelle, you're on the ball!"
Noelle's expression dropped a bit. "Seriously, you're the head honcho of a major corporation now. Do you really have to pick up every visitor from the airport?" She couldn't resist ribbing him. "So, who's the VIP this time?"
"You'll see when we get there." Charles teased, a grin he could not quite hide spreading across his face.
Noelle was curious, but Charles was playing coy, and she could not pry it out of him. Figuring the airport was not far off, she would find out who it was soon enough. to
With that thought, Noelle relaxed and started to scroll through her phone.
She had been swamped those last few months, hardly finding time to catch up with Rowena and Teresa-Rowena in particular.
Rowena had been sent out of town with a colleague for a big interview by their editor, and she had been complaining about being too busy to hang out.
Noelle chuckled when she saw the exaggerated crying emoji Rowena dropped in their messenger group chat.
The chat was lively, and Noelle was so engrossed that she completely forgot Charles was there.
Charles had tried a few times to
voice his annoyance, but Noelle barely acknowledged him, tossing him a casual reply before divingBelongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
back into her conversation. It was e
not until a large hand suddenly appeared in her line of sight that Noelle looked up, startled. "Are we there?" She glanced around, still on the highway, and frowned. "We're not there yet. What do you need?" to
"What's got you so giddy?" Charles asked, eyeing Noelle's phone. "What's that?"
"Just a chat app," Noelle replied, giving Charles a skeptical look. "Don't tell me you've never heard of messenger!"
Charles just pressed his lips together, not saying a word. Noelle could not help but let out a giggle. "No way, Charles. You seriously don't know?"
Charles squinted, and Noelle
instantly sensed a shift in the vibe. "It's... you know, where everyone hangs out and talks. I don't really have a ton of friends, just chat with Rowena, Teresa, and a couple others. Hey Charles, you wanna join in?" to
