“Is it difficult to hear? Are the nasty things you do not worthy of those words? Or do you think I haven’t described it adequately?” Tredan Davi was calm on the outside, but in his heart, his anger had already overtaken his reason, and he was like a beast waiting to explode, his whole body reeking with terror.

“If President Davi doesn’t have any orders for work, I’ll go first, there’s a ton of data waiting for me to process!” Octavia Gills felt that talking to Tredan Davi was not a good idea and that they both needed time and space to calm down.

“Stop right there! Are you that desperate to get back to his side?” Octavia Gills’ attempt to turn away really and utterly angered Tredan Davi, who came to Octavia Gills’ heels, tugged her by one arm, and pulled her back into the seat.

Octavia Gills was stunned, and she looked at Tredan Davi in disbelief, angry and resentful.

“What do you care what happens between Eddison and me. Tredan Davi, don’t think that because I love you so much you can do whatever you want to me? Don’t you think you’ve gone too far?” A hidden pain passed through Octavia Gills’ heart.

“What happened to you and him, how far did you get with him?” Tredan Davi looked like a raving lunatic whenever he heard Eddison’s name being said by Octavia.

Octavia Gills slapped the hand that Tredan Davi squeezed her chin with, she fought to keep her tears from falling, she couldn’t let Tredan Davi see her cowardly tears.

“Who are you to accuse me of having an affair with another man? Did you forget that you are still Lilian Drye’s fianc??e in public, and am I not just a stand-in lover for you in your mind? Do you have to be so tensed up? If I had run off with someone else, wouldn’t that have saved you the trouble? Why bother, President Davi!”

Tredan Davi froze for a moment. Why is she saying he’s still hung up as Lilian Drye’s fianc??e, while she was the stand-in lover? Something about this was wrong.

“Do you mind that I haven’t disclosed your identity yet? It’s my fault that this matter can’t be resolved quickly, but this engagement doesn’t just involve me and Lilian Drye personally, it will affect Group Davi’s entire marketing operation, and it’s a critical time for that big project that will take a month for it to stabilize and I’ll have dealt with it by then! I didn’t reveal our relationship in public as a protection for you, and I made it clear to Lilian Drye a long time ago that she and I are through.” Octavia Gills was minding this so she was taking Eddison to piss him off, was she? Tredan thought.

“Protection? Oh, Tredan, you’ve analyzed this so thoroughly, do we have a future? Aren’t you afraid that if it happens between you and me, your Group Davi stocks will plummet? Tredan Davi, we’re not meant to be together, let’s just leave it at that!” Octavia Gills struggled to say every word of this to Tredan Davi.

“What are you trying to say?” Tredan Davi asked Octavia Gills incredulously, “Forget it? What does it mean? You tell me, you tell me!”

“President Davi, don’t you have a personal assistant? Is it appropriate for you to call my people away like that?” Eddison went to look for Octavia Gills but found that she was not in her office, and was told by other staff that Octavia Gills had been called by Tredan Davi early in the morning. Hearing this, Eddison quickly went to the President’s office and interrupted Tredan Davi’s conversation with Octavia Gills.

“Who gave you permission to come into my office?” Tredan Davi’s sharp eyes pressed straight into Eddison. That murderous aura was so strong, and though Eddison was shaken, he quickly recovered and kept his smile on.

“I’m looking for my secretary, and I’d like to remind you, Brother, that Octavia Gills is my secretary. You don’t have any authority over her at work and if you are short of staff in your office you should have told me and I would have arranged for my people to come and help, but you seem to have overlooked that, Brother!” Eddison kept reminding Tredan Davi that Octavia Gills was on his side.

Tredan Davi was so angry that he grabbed Eddison’s bow tie and said to him with a look that made him feel he was being skinned, “Eddison, don’t think that just because you’re in the head office and in the VP position that you can strut your stuff in front of me, it’s not clear where you’ll be sitting tomorrow, do you understand? Also, Octavia Gills is my woman from start to finish and I advise you to keep your mind where it should be.”

Octavia Gills can’t listen anymore, Tredan Davi will never be willing to believe in her innocence as far as Eddison was concerned.

“Tredan, I’m telling you for the last time, there’s nothing between me and the VP, it’s just a business relationship, believe it or not! It’s time for me and you to end this!” Octavia Gills slammed the door and left. Tredan and Eddison were left staring at each other. They each had sadness and joy in their hearts.

“Isn’t it sad, to have a mother like yours, and a son like you? It has become a sign of nature to rob others, I admire your mother and you. From birth, you have not been ignorant of the word shame, how nice! Everything here does not belong to someone who is a bastard, do you understand? You might as well withdraw early from the place where a bastard like you shouldn’t be.” Confronted with Tredan’s targeted remarks, Eddison felt his resentment growing deeper and he walked out of Tredan Davi’s office without saying anything.

What a sign of nature? The last words that Tredan Davi kept echoing in Eddison’s ears.

Tredan grew up with the best, his father always gave Tredan more than what was given to him, and he can never compete with Tredan for money or power. Why? Why did Tredan never accept him as his brother and reject him so much? Was it true that Tredan was going to deal with his mother and him after he kicked out his uncle who had wronged him? Has Tredan Davi been waiting for his father to give him the real power? If this happens, Eddison and his mother would be in a difficult position. This is the story of the day, all because Ottilie has been reminding Eddison not to be so stupid all the time such that he won’t realize he has already lost!

Eddison hates the word bastard with a passion, he hates it, especially when it comes from Tredan’s mouth. He was Floyd’s son, but why should he be accused of being a bastard? Tredan had humiliated him so mercilessly today, and he would make Tredan regret it! One day he would make Tredan feel how much it hurt to have the most painful wound in his heart rubbed with salt.

Drye Family House

Mr. and Mrs. Drye and Lilian were sitting cozily for breakfast, Grimm was reading the newspaper and eating his sandwich when he slaps the newspaper on the table with a grim look like the harbinger of a storm. Mrs. Drye was startled by the sound.

“What’s the matter, Grimm, is something wrong with the food?” She walked over to Grimm to allay his anger, and out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the front page headline of the newspaper: Group Davi president exposed for harboring a mistress!

“Tredan is so out of control and so indifferent to the Drye Family, no, I can’t just swallow this.” Grimm was even more distressed when he saw his daughter sitting here eating her breakfast!

“Baby girl, daddy sees Tredan as a bad person, let’s back out of this marriage and daddy will find you a better one!”

Lilian never expected her father to tell her to give up Tredan. She had set up such a trap, such a news story, in which she had sacrificed herself. Things can’t go on like this.

“Dad, it’s all because of Octavia, that wolf, who tried every possible way to take Tredan away from me, she seduced him while I was out of the country and said in front of him that our family lied to him, do you know dad, Tredan is such a perfectionist, right now, he just couldn’t accept that I lied to him, but he still loves me!”

Lilian Drye is not only fooling her parents, but she is also fooling herself. She is convinced that Tredan Davi has been compelled to change his mind about marrying her, and she does not believe that Tredan Davi has no feelings for her at all.

“Octavia? Elda has promised mum that she will leave Tredan! She…” Mrs. Drye thought Elda wouldn’t lie to her and couldn’t lie to her like that!

“Mummy, you’re just too nice, you believe everything people say. You shouldn’t have been so nice to those two and just slapped them both to relieve your anger!”

Grimm was a bit oblivious to the conversation between mother and daughter, but no matter what happened, he would make sure to give the Davi Family something to think about!

“Lilian, why don’t you come with me to Group Davi after breakfast?”

“Yes! I knew Dad would never allow anyone to bully his daughter, Dad, I love you so much!”

Lilian Drye had gone to great lengths to have the story exposed, and as a result, she was now waiting for Grimm to make a big move to pressure the Davi Family so that Tredan Davi’s marriage to her would be unstoppable!

Grimm came to Floyd’s office with this morning’s paper and he threw this right at Floyd’s desk, “Look at this, look at this, look at what your son has done, Floyd, I don’t care if you have no regard for the face of the Davi Family, have you ever thought about the Drye Family losing face?”

Looking at Grimm who was ranting, Floyd picked up the paper and looked at it, having read it this morning, he expected Grimm to find him.

“Grimm, young people are impulsive and unruly, if we as elders handle things the same way as young people, then how can this matter be resolved properly? Grimm, I will take care of this matter, just rest assured, both of our families’ good reputations are connected. Floyd and Grimm had been friends for so many years, how could they not take care of each other?

“I don’t want this to drive a wedge between Group Drye and Group Davi. I can’t be the sole arbiter of many things at Group Drye. The shareholders behind me are starting to have negative feelings over this bad publicity. This will make it difficult to fund this joint venture between the Davi and Drye families if the shareholders are unhappy. And Floyd, I’m not saying I have to marry into your family, but I won’t allow anyone to treat my only daughter this way.”
