The CEO’s Substitute Lover

Chapter 48: Letter of Resignation

Eldwin took the letter of resignation and headed for Grimm’s study.

“Mr. Grimm, Mrs. Drye, I am handing you my resignation, Elda was fired by the Princess last week and she is no longer with the Drye Family!” Eldwin was a quick and easy man, he didn’t like to dilly-dally, he just buckled up and said it all!

Mr. and Mrs. Drye were confused by Eldwin resigning! “Eldwin, is there a good reason why you want to resign? And how come Elda was sacked by the Princess, what the hell is going on here? Lilian, tell us!”Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Grimm, knowing his daughter’s temperament, decided not to embarrass Eldwin, who had worked for his family for 20 or 30 years, and instead went straight to his daughter to find out what was going on.

“It’s because of Octavia, you’d think Tredan would have found out about it because they broke the agreement, they’re both bad people, and that bitch Octavia is a wolf! I sacked Elda because I don’t like her!” Lilian Drye described it with a sense of entitlement, and Eldwin couldn’t stand to look at her! But since Mr. and Mrs. Drye had treated him well, he would not argue with her! The bell-ringer had to be tied, and it could not be avoided!

“What? Lilian, why didn’t you tell Mum you were dismissing her when she has a sick son to look after and Elda has been doing all the big and small chores for the Drye Family for twenty years? How can you be so insensitive, my child?” She felt a bit guilty because was too busy to notice that Elda was no longer in the house!

Hearing her mother’s words, Lilian Drye cried louder and threw herself at Grimm, “Father, how can mum do this to me, her daughter, when I have suffered so much, why can’t I dismiss Elda? How could Tredan refuse to marry me if Elda and Octavia hadn’t broken the treaty of the agreement? Papa!”

Looking at Lilian Drye with tears streaming down her face, she looked so miserable and Grimm was so distressed that he could only pat Lilian on the back to comfort her, “Lilian, don’t cry, my daughter. Madam, how can you be so angry with your daughter over Elda!”

“Honey, we can’t just let our daughter do as she wishes, we have to be reasonable about everything, if Tredan has wronged Lilian, it’s not right for Lilian to dismiss someone without knowing the truth!” Lilian is a child who has been spoiled by her father.

Grimm was angry, “No, what’s wrong with you? Why do you care so much about outsiders and ignore your daughter? I don’t care who’s right or who’s wrong, I won’t allow anyone to bully Lilian! And as for Tredan, tell me what you want to do with him, Lilian! Don’t cry!” Mrs. Drye’s heart was truly racing as she watched Grimm’s bottomless coddling!

“Honey, you’re not helping Lilian this way, you’re actually hurting her!”

“Eldwin, tell us why you want to resign?” Looking at Eldwin’s silence and the letter of resignation in his hand, Grimm couldn’t understand why Eldwin wanted to resign!

“Mr. Grimm, I’m too old to do much for the Drye Family. Next month my son will be back from his studies and he is bringing his girlfriend with him.” What was in his thoughts, however, was that his son will be starting his own family, and have his own life so he won’t have to worry about him. What Eldwin wanted was to step down from his role and enjoy his old age freely.

“Now that you’ve said that! Fine! I approve, come back and sit around more often when you can, you’re always welcome at the Drye Family’s door!” Grimm was a nostalgic man and was particularly unhappy to part with Eldwin.

“I’ll be waiting for you in front of your office, I want to take you to meet someone very important!”

Octavia Gills smiled sweetly as she read the Facebook message from Tredan Davi on her phone.

Someone important? Octavia Gills didn’t speculate too much, she just knew that Tredan Davi was already downstairs waiting for her. She had to move a little faster so she gathered up the messy documents on her desk and took a little touch-up mirror to check her face, feeling satisfied with the ‘little lady’ look!

She grabbed her bag and headed downstairs. She was unaware that Eddison was eyeing her with that happy smile but somewhat lost in thought. Looking through the glass window of his office, he saw Tredan Davi’s expensive sports car parked at the roadside when Octavia Gills walked past, Tredan Davi, himself got out of the car to open the door for Octavia Gills.

Why would Octavia Gills choose her older brother instead of him? Lilian Drye’s words from that evening rang in his ears: “If you were in your older brother’s place and if you had his power and strength, and if you were not regarded as an illegitimate child, could Octavia Gills choose you when Tredan Davi had nothing left? Will she choose someone with money and real power to keep her sick brother afloat, will she? Think it over and get back to me when you’ve thought it through!”

“Why did you come to the gate, what if someone recognizes you later? Next time I’ll just come to you, no need to go to all that trouble!” Octavia Gills was bursting with happiness when Tredan Davi went out of the car and opened the door for her without a care in the world, except that Tredan Davi was a public figure and Octavia Gills was well aware of the implications for Tredan Davi and even Group Davi if she was photographed by anyone.

“Don’t worry about all that nonsense! From now on I’m not sneaking around to be with you, I’m holding hands openly, openly, openly, and openly! Nothing is more important to me than you!” Tredan Davi took Octavia Gills’ hand and kissed it, then held it tightly.

Being spoken to so affectionately by Tredan Davi, made Octavia Gills’ pale face instantly flushed with embarrassment. “By the way, Tredan, who are you planning to introduce me to?”

“Come with me and you’ll see!”

A mental hospital! As Tredan’s car pulled up in front of the building that said mental hospital, Octavia had a question written all over her face, did Tredan know someone very important here?

“Yeah, I believe someone very important is living in this mental hospital, the only consolation is that she’s in a five-star luxury ward with two caregivers taking turns to look after her day and night.”

Octavia stared at Tredan with incredulous eyes, could Tredan be a mind reader? “Are you a mind reader?”

“With you, there is no need for any mind reading, your thoughts are simply written all over your face.” Her simple face?? her pure heart?? that was what took his heart captive!

“Impossible, Tredan, do I look like a simple-minded person?” A reluctant Octavia just thinks that Tredan is using his cleverness to fool her.

“Not ‘look like’?? to be precise you ARE a simple-minded person!” Octavia was a little petrified in the face of Tredan’s blunt affirmation.

“Tredan, you’re so annoying!”

“Is that so? Why do you think I love you to death!” No one in the world knows how to be more articulate than Tredan Davi, and Octavia Gills was defeated!

“Come on!” Tredan Davi took Octavia Gills’ hand and walked in, having been here just once in these twenty years, when his mother had gone so mad, she hadn’t recognized him and had even ranted about him as if he were Ottilie. The young Tredan Davi was frightened experiencing his mother’s delirium. Since then, Tredan Davi has not dared to visit her.

Octavia Gills felt the palm of Tredan Davi’s hand, which was cold and sweaty, trembling even as it held her hand. Octavia Gills didn’t say anything, didn’t ask any questions, just held Tredan Davi’s hand as if in response, and walked with him in a state of pretended relaxation.

Tredan Davi stopped in his tracks at the door of a ward decorated like a luxury suite, not daring to enter, fearing that his mother would still not recognize him, that she would even rant and rave at him as if he were someone else.

Octavia Gills looked at Tredan Davi in disbelief and when she was about to ask, Tredan Davi closed his eyes and said to her, “That’s my mother in there, my real mother! I’ve only visited her once in twenty years, but she doesn’t recognize me anymore, she’s even forgotten she has a child.”

Octavia Gills finally understood all of Tredan Davi’s awkward behavior today, she embraced him quietly, she wanted Tredan Davi to let go of the slightest bit of fear in his heart, she wanted him to feel the warmth of her presence. “Tredan, be brave, there are many things that will have a positive outcome if you are brave enough to face them.” Octavia Gills opened the door for Tredan Davi, but no one was there, Octavia Gills tugged Tredan Davi inside and saw a rather charming back, she was half leaning on a large red chaise longue, holding a rather thick book, it was just not clear what kind of book it was. She was so absorbed in it that she did not notice the arrival of Octavia and Tredan.

She is as graceful as a fairy, no wonder Tredan looks so seductive, the beauty gene is not to be underestimated!

A sharp-eyed caregiver peeling an apple for her recognized Tredan instantly as he looked very similar to Mrs. Davi, although she had only met him once or twice.

“Great Prince, you’re here!” Octavia Gills, who understood Tredan Davi’s hesitation and weakness at the moment, took the first step for him and walked alone to greet Mrs. Davi.

‘Hello, Auntie! My name is Octavia and I’m here with Tredan to see you today!’

When Mrs. Davi heard the name Tredan, the book she was holding suddenly fell to the floor. She was horrified and happy at the same time.

“Tredan? Do you mean my Tredan?” She inquired eagerly as she sat up and took Octavia Gills’ hand.

Octavia Gills nodded to Mrs. Davi and then looked at Tredan behind his mother, who turned to the direction Octavia’s eyes were looking. She saw a handsome, stiff-looking Tredan, with eyes like hers and a nose that had been there for twenty years! Her son had grown so much!

Mrs. Davi was overcome with emotion, and tears rolled from her eyes. As they fell, she cried out to him, “Tredan, my son! Mrs. Davi walked around the lounge chair that stood between them, stroking Tredan’s face and looking at every one of his features.
