Chapter 4 The Estate
Mavis couldn’t believe a word her friends were saying about her. She sat on the couch, curled up, and experienced the worst hangover of her life. Rather than make her feel better, Amy and Darla took it upon themselves to tell the tales of Mavis’s behavior at the club to Lisa. Immediately after her father’s funeral, she asked her siblings to live with her and they gladly agreed because they hated their life living with their mother and her new husband.
” She what?!” Lisa exclaimed in shock, her eyes bulging as she covered her mouth with her palms.
” Your sister emptied a bottle of whiskey and then after leading every single man to sin with her dance, she went off with a filthy rich billionaire CEO!” Darla recounted dramatically. While the rest of them were laughing, Mavis was upset.
” Why are you making up stories? You all know that if I drank a bottle of whiskey I wouldn’t be suffering this awful hangover,” Mavis argued but her friends stared at her lovingly because she was so innocent all of a sudden.
” She’s so adorable!” Darla squealed and Mavis rolled her eyes subtly.
” You must’ve had more drinks then,” Lisa said, giggling with excitement.
” Why are you guys saying all these lies about me in front of my little sister?! Lisa, it’s a lie okay? I didn’t sleep with anyone.” Mavis suddenly said in panic when she realized her sister was with them.
” Really? Why are you in some big ass sleeves with no panties on either?” Lisa asked with a smirk while Amy spat out the water she was drinking before she knelt dramatically and fell on the floor, shaking with laughter.
Mavis looked away from her infuriating friend and cursed under her breath when she saw that she was indeed in man’s clothing. She could tell that he was a very big man by how lost she was in his white sleeves.
She ran her hands through her hair and frowned, ” Why don’t I remember anything?” she asked innocently.
” You probably took more shots, duh” Lisa responded sounding a little irritated this time around.
” And…how did I get back?”
” In a limo,” Amy and Darla said with mischievous grins before Amy brought out her phone and showed Mavis the picture they took just in case she didn’t believe them.
” This sucks…” Mavis exhaled in defeat while they laughed.
” I don’t even remember a thing.”
” Well, his name is Blaine Rider and he is an investor, the CEO of Neonites… I think he also owns the company that manufactures sports cars for Neonites as well. He also just bought a huge football club like six minutes ago.” Amy read out of her phone, followed by silence. Mavis’s head was filled with flashbacks of her with a man but she couldn’t remember his face.
” So…Mavis really did sleep with a filthy rich man huh?’
” Look, whatever happened, I don’t care. I just wanna go back to sleep so leave me alone okay?” Mavis said before she strutted off to her room and lay on the bed. She looked at the oversized sleeve she was covered in and when she smelled it, she couldn’t help but feel like she remembered the scent.
She knew that she hadn’t been taken advantage of but it kind of hurt her that she couldn’t remember properly who it was. She sighed and closed her eyes before she fell asleep.

Blaine had just finished signing a few papers at his office when Chris knocked and entered his office. He wasn’t in a good mood and he had not been in a good mood since he spent the night with Mavis.
Usually, after any hookup, he would give the woman a parting gift and that would be the last time they ever see each other but for two weeks now he’s been unable to do the same for Mavis.
He didn’t even get her a gift, but that was because, during her drunken rambles, she mentioned hating it when men would give her money after sex as if she was a whore.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
Blaine wasn’t sure what this feeling he was having about Mavis meant, but as he signed the last paperwork on his desk he knew that he needed to find her. He thought of sending her to rehab of some sort for her drinking though, the woman was obsessed with drinking. But still, he needed to see her even though it meant him leaving London and going back to LA to find her.
He would’ve hidden the booze had he known that she would drink again after they had the most intensely satisfying night of his life. If he did that, he might’ve been able to get to know her better – but that is something he’s never done at any of his hookups either.
” Sir!” he had Chris yell and cursed under his breath for being so absorbed in a total stranger. He sighed and rubbed his brows in frustration because he knew Chris must be bringing him news about Claudia, his cheating and backstabbing wife.
Blaine knew that some people would think that it wasn’t right for him to have cheated on her as revenge but he loved Claudia too much that when he found out that in their sixteen years of marriage she has been cheating on him, he felt betrayed and full of spite for her.
He only went to the club after weeks of spiraling in mixed feelings about Claudia’s betrayal and when he saw Mavis he couldn’t stop himself from doing the very thing he hadn’t done in sixteen years – cheating on his wife.
It was when he was younger that he used to sleep with women and have regular hookups. Knowing how faithful he was to Claudia, he just never expected her to be so unfaithful to him.
Closing the files on his desk, he looked at Chris and said, ” Tell Claudia to sign the damn papers and free me from this bullshit!”
” S-sir, this isn’t about your wi- I mean, Claudia.” He said with a smile.
” That’s strange. What is it about?” Blaine asked though he was slightly annoyed that Claudia hadn’t signed the divorce papers.
“It’s about that Estate not too far from here, the one the owner has been trying to get you to buy,” Chris said, this time he looked worried and uncomfortable.
” Oh… so?”
” So…the man actually died and willed the property to his daughter. The house is currently being renovated and I think his daughter has sold it off!”
Blaine clasped his hand on his desk and sighed. He really wanted to buy the Estate because he could tell that the man needed it urgently. If it weren’t for his issues with Claudia he would’ve bought it! He wasn’t the type to feel bad at the news of death since he had lost several loved ones so he became numb to the idea. But this man was a good man, he felt guilty and sad about it. What if he needed it for treatment?
” Let’s go over there right now.” Blaine said, getting up and tossing his car keys to Chris as he said, ” you’re driving”
