Chapter 11 Confrontation
It’s been two weeks since Mavis found out that she was pregnant and in that two weeks she has been extremely busy doing everything she can to get someone to buy her father’s Estate. Despite all her hard work, no one wanted to buy the Estate for the prize she was offering. Most kept offering her half the prize after going around the Estate and it was so obvious that they just didn’t want to buy it.
” What are we going to do now?” Lisa asked. She had come into Mavis’s room to discuss the way forward because things weren’t looking up for them at all.
” I don’t know. I’m probably going to have to see Mom. This whole debt thing is her fault. She should at least have the decency to deal with it instead of shoving it down our throats.” Mavis replied lazily as she lay on the bed that evening.
” I don’t know about seeing Mom. I don’t think it’s going to produce much effort but I guess it’s better than doing nothing.”
” You two really don’t want to stay here do you?” Mavis asked throwing Lisa off-guard for a second before she took in a deep breath and shook her head.
” Don’t worry. I’ll go see Mom and talk to her about this – but if she refuses…” Mavis said, giving Lisa a weary look, ” … then I’ll have no choice but to meet Blaine. I’ll sell the house for the amount he’s willing to pay and we’ll go back to LA to start over with… whatever we can.”
” Okay… but what about the baby.”
” What do you mean? Who says I’m keeping it? Don’t be ridiculous, probably gonna get rid of it tomorrow or next.” Mavis said before she kissed Lisa’s forehead, ” go to bed. I’ll fix everything tomorrow morning.” She said and Lisa reluctantly left the room.
The next morning, Mavis got ready and was about to leave the house when a thought came to her. ” What if you tell Blaine about the baby? Wouldn’t he want you to keep it in exchange for money at least?”
Immediately the thought came she wiped it out of her head, angry with herself for even thinking about something like that. She made up her mind that she would only go and see Blaine because of the house and nothing else because if she tells him about the baby, he would most likely make her keep it and worst of all, she’ll become his mistress!
Mavis was about to leave the house when she saw Luke making out with someone in front of a black Jeep. Her first thought was her friend Darla but Darla doesn’t have a car and the girl’s hair was different, she was a platinum blonde. She quietly shut the door after her and tried to walk past them without any of them noticing but even with her unimpressive stealth, they didn’t seem to notice her so she just got in her own car and shut the door, watching them quietly.
They eventually broke the kiss and Mavis sighed when she saw the girl’s face. Eva Wilson, the Duke’s daughter. Eva was the same age as Luke but she wasn’t in the same grade as Luke. She’d already gotten into college from what Lisa told Mavis and would be traveling to “somewhere far” for college.
” Hey, don’t cry. It’s fine, I’ll call you every day, so just let me know the timezone difference. Okay?” Luke said, cupping her cheeks in his hands while Eva sobbed.
” I just want to be with you. I should’ve told you how I felt about you while we were still in school. Now, I probably won’t see you ever again.” She said in between sobs. They talked a little more before she left in the car that brought her there and as Luke was about to go back inside he spotted Mavis.
” Please tell me you didn’t just witness that,” he said and she wined down the glass, smiling at him.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
” I didn’t ruin the moment at least. You didn’t tell me about her”
” That’s because she kept pushing me away. I mean, I was surprised to see her here this morning, telling me about… oh, you already heard didn’t you.”
” Uhun. Look, I’ve gotta go see Mom and Blaine later today so you guys should try and attend to any buyer who might show up today. Okay?” Mavis said, changing the topic because she knew he didn’t want to talk about Eva anymore.
” Okay, see ya.” He said as she started her car and drove out of the Estate. During the drive to her mother’s house, she kept thinking about how she would approach confronting her mother without causing too many problems but the more she thought about it, the more it didn’t seem like it would work out. No matter how she tries to think about it, this encounter will be chaotic.
She had just driven into her mother’s house and parked her car when she saw the last person she would’ve imagined seeing her mother with – Blaine.
