Chapter 1987
The misunderstanding couldn't have been bigger. How could Hertha ever think that?
Right now, Alaric was a bundle of emotions thrilled yet anxious.
The thrill came from the fact that there were no children between him and Georgia; the whole drama was a solo act by Georgia.
The anxiety stemmed from Hertha believing he conspired with Georgia to deceive her-all to avoid marrying her!
To be with Hertha, he didn't hesitate to leave the prestigious Falconer family behind, opting for a life as an average Joe. How could she think he'd join forces with Georgia just to dodge responsibility?
Right then, he wished he could sprout wings and fly straight to Hertha, to show her his heart and tell her he was duped by Georgia too.
The phone rang for a long time until it went to voicemail.
Alaric hurriedly drove to Hertha's office, only to be told she hadn't come in that day.
Next, he rushed to Hertha's house. This time, he didn't hold back, marching right up to her doorstep and knocking.
The door was opened by Kimberly.
Seeing Hertha's mom, Alaric was about to greet her with his usual cheeky "Hey, Mom," but the look in Kimberly's eyes made him switch gears mid- greeting. He awkwardly laughed off his initial approach, correcting himself, "Kimberly, is Hertha home?"
"Daddy, daddy's here!" a chorus of little voices came from inside.
Then, Alaric saw two little heads peeking around Kimberly's legs, both eagerly looking up at him.
Helena, with her pigtails and bright, innocent eyes, beamed at Alaric, her voice full of childish excitement, "Daddy!"
Julian, with his round, sparkling eyes, was equally thrilled, exclaiming, "Daddy!"
"Hey, Julian, Helena, where's mommy?" Alaric squatted down, a warm smile on his face as he asked the kids.
Their calling him made him happy, but he was more anxious to find Hertha.
"Are you here to see mommy and not us?" Helena tilted her head, her question loaded with a child's jealousy.
Alaric couldn't help but laugh, surprised by their possessiveness at such a young age.
Feeling a bit more at ease, he gently
patted Helena's head, softly explaining, Of course, I love seeing you guys the most. But today, I have something important to discuss with your mommy. I've just found out that the child that woman talked about isn't mine. I need to clear
things up with your mom."
In essence, Alaric was clearing the air with Hertha's mother through his conversation with the kids.
It was all a big misunderstanding; that child wasn't his, which meant there was no barrier between him and Hertha anymore.
Kimberly had been quite cold to him recently, all because of this issue.C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.
As expected, upon hearing this, Kimberly's stern expression softened. She patted Alaric on the shoulder.
Looking up at Kimberly, Alaric waited for her direction.
Kimberly pointed towards the street, informing, "Hertha went out to Spencer's wedding."
"Spencer's wedding?" Alaric was taken aback. He knew Spencer had a girlfriend but hadn't realized they were tying the knot.
"Yes, Spencer is getting married to
Emmeline today. I think it's at some hotel... Kimberly trailed off, only vaguely remembering Hertha mentioning Spencer's wedding.
She was a bit down knowing Spencer was getting hitched while her daughter was still single, so she hadn't paid much attention to the details.
As Kimberly was trying to recall the
venue, Alaric couldn't wait any
longer. He immediately called Ethan, "Can you find out where Spencer's wedding is happening today?"
